Original title: how to remove folders WER in win XP

I used disk clean without success. Whenever I take off, I get about 5 GB of files that can be deleted. I have delete but next time I run Disk Cleanup, I get again 5 GB of files.

When I run folder in the start-run box, I get a temporary folder that has more than 2 GB of files WER; When I try to remove them, I get a message that they cannot be deleted.
OS: Win XP

Hello

WER is the abbreviation of Windows Error Reporting (WER). Windows Error Reporting collects and proposes to send after error debug information (a memory dump), using the Internet, for the developer of an application that hangs or stops responding on a desk. No data is sent without the consent of the user. When a dump (or any other error signature information) reaches the server of Microsoft, it is analyzed and a solution is returned to the user when one is available. Solutions are served using Windows Error Reporting responses. Windows error reporting runs as a Windows service and can possibly be completely disabled. If Windows error reporting crashes, then an error indicates that the process crashed original cannot be sent.

You can remove the WER files

 C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\ Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER

  • How can I remove (empty) folders in Lightroom?

After slaughter of the bad shots and do a bit of re-organization, I was with many empty folders.  "Withdrawal" in Lightroom takes them out of the catalog, but leaves empty folders on the disk.  Is it possible in Lightroom to remove a record catalog and drive?  At present, it seems like a two-stage process: delete the catalog, and then in the Finder.

It sounds like a simple question, but I couldn't find an answer after spending a lot of time looking on the Web and poking around in Lr.  I found a few (older) posts on various sites/blogs help that suggests LR should remove empty folders automatically; This is certainly not the case for me.  Others said you should be able to delete a file using the context menu, then choosing Remove (any indication it works in Windows, not Mac).

I use Lr 5.7 (creative cloud version); MacBook Air with OS X Yosemite; photos (where empty folders are) stored on a Synology NAS.

    Many thanks for any help.

    Charles

It is likely to be a problem of SIN/OS... delete an empty folder to my Synology NAS does not remove the folder, while if I do the same with an empty folder on a USB3 connected external drive the folder IS deleted.

But Rob is also correct that the folder must be empty to remove the disc occurs.

  • How can I remove WINXSX folder in Win XP Pro?

I had to reinstall Win XP several times just to activate. The result is that I now have three, "Old WIndows" folders. I deleted all but the WINSXS folder. These files are locked. I can't take control of delete them the files. These things take more than 1 GB of disk space EACH. They colntain of hundreds of files. I understand why the record is there, IE the .dll thing. BUT, there must be a way to simply delete this folder.

The issue of CONTROL is the reason why I removed WIN 7. I thought XP was easier to take control of. EVIL!

    Help, please!

When you installed Windows XP, you should have let it remove existing partitions and create a new partition for installation.

Normally, users should pleasant not with the content of the WinSxS folder... that is why it is much more difficult to remove than most of the other elements of Windows.

  • Trying to remove the folders from Windows one system empty, but in error "is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows work.» It cannot be deleted. »

My parents bought a laptop from a friend, and recently my father ran an antivirus program that came with multiple files in a folder that has been created by this friend. When you try to delete the folder a box appears that says "it is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows work.» It cannot be deleted. "But all the folders inside are empty and of no use to us. Help?

The standard answer to questions that begin with «I bought a used computer...» "is you can do a clean install of Windows, because you know not what could be hiding somewhere in the computer.  In this case, it seems as if he is infected with something.

Legally, the seller was required to give you a way to do this reinstall, but in the vast majority of the private sales of used computers, this requirement is simply ignored.

If it's a laptop to 'mark' (e.g., Dell, HP, IBM/Lenovo) there may be a hidden partition on the hard drive that can be used to restore the computer to its "fresh from the factory" State.  Of course, this will remove all applications that the previous owner had installed after he or she has bought new, but you should still seriously to consider making such a restore, if the mechanism is available.

What is the name and the version of the antivirus application that has detected the wrong files?
What are the names of the files?
What is the name of the folder that cannot be deleted?
Are you logged on as a user with the rights "computer administrator" when you try to delete it?

Assuming that you can not or will not do a clean install of Windows, I suggest the following (do not run scans at the same time, each analysis may take some time, depending on the number of files on the computer):

Connect as a user with the privileges "computer administrator" and do a full scan with each of the following:

http://www.PCtipp.ch/downloads/Sicherheit/35905/multi_av_scanning_tool.html (page is in German, but the downloaded scanner is in English)

  • Remove the Dual Boot Win 7 Options - after clean install SSD

    Hi people,

I was wondering if you could help us?

I bought a PC that came with an SSD (256 GB) and a (2 TB) HARD drive, but for some reason, the operating system was installed on the HARD drive!

I finally sort myself and performed a clean installation of windows on the SSD drive and after some messing about with the pilots, he is now in place and works very well.

However when turn on, I get two options of starting two Windows 7, one on the SSD and one original on the HARD drive (I can start if I wanted to right now).

    • How can I get rid of the old drive HARD install & boot options?
    • Is it too easy to delete the partitions in the Disk Manager & potentially adjust the MSConfig options?
    • This will also remove the files and erase the drive down or do I reformat or clean this player in some way as well?

A couple of things that I was concerned compared...

    • Initially, I had some of my games Steam installed on the SSD, will it manually delete these or the windows install crushed the?
    • After the installation of Windows, a number of drivers were missing (including the network card). I used the Auto search function to find and use those of the old installation of OS. Delete/remove the old BONES will affect these?

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Thank you

Yes, you can use msconfig to remove the HARD drive boot entry. Once this is done, you must manually remove the windows and program files (also Program Files (x 86), if you are using Windows x 64) files of the directory of the HARD drive.

    • Initially, I had some of my games Steam installed on the SSD, will it manually delete these or the windows install crushed the?
If you have performed a clean Windows installation, with formatting, the files would have been deleted. If this isn't the case, you must manually remove the files.
    • After the installation of Windows, a number of drivers were missing (including the network card). I used the Auto search function to find and use those of the old installation of OS. Delete/remove the old BONES will affect these?
No, it won't have an impact. Each installation of Windows is separated and none of them can affect the performance of others.

I'm using VMware Workstation 10.0.1 and I earn 8.1 as my host OS.

When I set up a VM 7 Win, shared folders are working as expected, but with a VM 8.1 Win I can't find folders in Explorer.  Also, I tried to access it via \\vmware-host and \\.host without success.

How can I see the shared folders in a Win 81 guest VM?

    Thank you!

    Hey Psi,

I had a similar problem. Worked fine on Windows 8.0, but after modernized this VM for Windows 8.1, the shared folder feature has stopped working. Only after the reinstallation of VMware Tools, it worked again.

Please note that a 'fix' on VMware Tools installation does not provide it, only a complete uninstall/reboot/install/reboot sequence makes this feature back to life for me.

  • Close folders under Win XP VM sync error of shared

    Hey people,

I get a sync error when closing my Win XP VM - don't know how to fix.  The error I get is "(shared folders on .host) offline files; "Unable to connect to.
. host\Shared of records.  Network not found path.  It seemed that this error has never happened until I mirrored the documents folder to the virtual machine.

Do not know if the network connection is closed before the synchronization process has occurred or what exactly.  I tried to search the community archives and found no similar occurrence.

To be honest, is not really sure what's the ramification of the error as all of the documents seem to be updated.

    Thoughts?

It is a feature of the Windows operating system that has been activated and has nothing to do with the merger as such, even if it tries to synchronize with the folder shared VMware, is an associated Windows user initiated the function of the Windows operating system operating system.

    1. open my computer.

    2. in the Tools menu, click Folder Options.

    3. on the offline files tab, make sure that the enable offline files check box is not checked.

I imported another RH6 project HTML files. Now I have some empty folders in the folder of files HTML (headings) on the project tab. I want to delete them, but the option remove has been grayed out. Any suggestions?

    Thank you
    FMnRH

Before you delete anything, I would say that you check that the desired folder badly in the other Pseudo-dossiers your HR project are empty. This ususally happens when the items imported using the resources of another folder (usually images but can also be a style sheet). If you delete the files in the Explorer you might end with the missing images. Move the images of HR in the folder desired and then you should see the Remove option is active again from the HTML HR folder.
