  • Years of frustration, still no closer to finding or rename the catalog

If you can help me, it will be a monumental help with a task that has failed time and time again, especially because of the complexity.

Problem: I want to rename my catalog file and open the file by default. He has somehow a new name while I tried to use Lightroom on the road and then put those pictures in the existing catalogue at home on an external where lies my main calalog.

So now I see that I can rename my catalog at the finder level, so easy, except that... where is this catalogue? I have no idea where the catalogue is that Lightroom uses to open by default.

I guess, if I could find it, I'd be halfway there at least.

Assistance in this area would be greatly appreciated. In addition, during the search of these forums for 'where is my catalogue?' there is no direct answer on the subject, does that mean that I'm the only one who can not find my catalog at the level of the viewfinder? Why Adobe constitute a 'see the catalog in the finder' in the drop-down list of files so that users can quickly when the book is?

    TIA,

    Ken

If you are on a Mac - right-click (or press control and click if you have a one button mouse) on the name of the catalog in the upper part of the Lightroom window.  It will show you the directory structure, select the parent folder and finder opens.

If you are on Windows - do right click the name of the catalog in the upper part of the Lightroom window.  Choose 'Location of the catalog Show' (I think that's what it's called) and it will be opened in Explorer.

    How to rename a catalog?

    Wil

First search in LR help/information system as the location and the name of your catalog.

    Then close Lightroom.

Go to the folder and change the name of:

    LR 4 Catalog.lrcat

    LR 4 Previews.lrdata

    TO

    Yourname Catalog.lrcat

    Previews.lrdata yourname

  • How to change the name of the catalog

I used a 'Test' Catalog.lrdat to try to correct an error in the collection.

    Fortunately, it succeeded.

I would like to change the name of the catalog, including backups, but the recent problems make me uncomfortable. Is it as simple as "rename all including the original copies and backups?

I'm on iMac and 10.10.5 using LR 2015.3.

    Vince

Using the Finder, replace it. LRCAT file for your desired name.

Then rename the 'Preview' folder using the same naming convention of names (your catalog name + "previews.lrdata").

There is no need to rename the backup as long as you remember that you have changed the name of the file if you still need to do a restore.

After you rename the catalog, you will need to manually point LR to the catalog to use since it will find one with the old name.

  • Rename user ID in the catalog

    OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 on windows server

I have to rename 20 user ID in the catalog of BI at night for the next four months... All users receive new Active Directory identifiers...

I tried runcat.cmd - cmd renameAccounts... but all I ever get is error: marked for shutdown and cannot accept new jobs...

    what works:

    in the catalog offline...

Smart rename the user under Users folder name

Right-click and change... recursive permissions add the new userID with total control...

Connect to BI as an administrator, to FIND whatever it is the old username has access to (this is the hard part) and add the new user name...

I do this by searching the name of users to manage privileges and

by checking each group to manage groups of catalog to the name of users...

    (A) is there an easier way?

    (B) is there a way to find which groups of catalog, a user is in? only way I see is to change every group and see if they are there?

Then I'd go with the law as a feature to get as already stated using variables of USER session, WEBGROUPS

Moved the folder "Pictures" of Mac and catalog image files shows no images. Cannot navigate to the appropriate folder in 'Files' Panel and cannot rename the folder "Images". How can I reconnect catalog image files?

    You opened an empty catalog.

You can try the following two steps to open the appropriate catalog file.

    1. Use the file-> open recent, open the list of all catalogs
    2. If this does not work, you will need to find the appropriate help for your operating system catalog file and double-click it to open it.
  • Script to rename the names of information link

I'm working on the conversion of a catalogue of old customers from Quark to Indesign.  I use Indesign CS4 on Windows Vista. I used Markzware Q2ID to convert indesign catalog with too many problems.  But I ran into a big problems with the images.  They will be automatically re-issued.  After digging around, I found the problem.  For some reason any all Image names also include the path structure.

    For example

    Link Info

    Name: BDA - 12:Users:graeme:Desktop:FSIP back-up: _Collected:02405 PESA AftMkt EAST: photos: M587524. EPS

    Path: BDA - 12:Users:graeme:Desktop:FSIP back-up: _Collected:02405 PESA AftMkt EAST: photos: M587524. EPS

Luckly that all names have the same problem.  So I hope find or write a script that can simply go through the indesign document and find/replace all the names link to remove "BDA - 12:Users:graeme:Desktop:FSIP back-up: _Collected:02405 PESA AftMkt EAST: photos:

I know it is a very simple problem, but it's my first real attempt to script something in Adobe.  Anyone have any good ideas or tips on how I could do this?

    Thank you

    VIC Bushfield

    Victor,

The conversion program totally corrupt links in your document: myLink.filePath is just empty string, myLink.name, this is what should have been myLink.filePath (this is info from ESTK).

Here is a new version of the script - it rebuilt to the files located in the folder NewLinks on the desktop. Change this line

    var myNewPath = '~/Desktop/NewLinks/' + MyName;

to the location of your links.

WARNING - I tested it on Mac, because do not have a copy of CS4 for Windows.

Steve, I opened the "Organizer" is gone to the root AVCHD (marked PRIVATE for some reason any).  I selected add media from the root directory.  It has imported media.  I then click with the right button on the desired video file and opened his first 13 items.  Loaded automatically moving.  I tried the tracking motion AND IT WORKED!  Thanks for your suggestion because it made me think that maybe there is some hidden files or that the Organizer could load the file moving PE13 how you want.  He did and it works now.  I will be certainly all future media in this way. • Restore the catalog and links after the C disk failures

My drive C crashed recently so I replaced it with a new drive and I'm trying to reinstall all my software. My photos were all on my drive D (which is not affected). I managed to get my old C drive, works again and I installed it as a slave (now K) drive.

I find the folder 'My project' on the old C drive and copied to the folder my pictures on my D drive.

I then clicked file > catalog > location custom and traveled to the new location for my catalog. However, when I click on open, it waits a few seconds then the dialog box disappears and returns to the main photowell (empty): "no items match this combination of filters...» "(The filters are all checked..)

As any of my photos have moved and I still have the orginal catalog file, I was hoping that I could just point the PE9 instal new to the catalog and everything would look as if nothing had happened... Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong? I've been watching the forum posts all day and not found anything quite like my situation or solutions that help.

The files in my catalog are:

    backupCt.dat DAT 1 KB file

    Catalogue PSE9DB 126KB

    collstatus.dat DAT 1 KB file

    face. Thumb.9.cache CACHE file 15KB

    tagstatus.dat DAT 1 KB file

    Thumb.5.cache CACHE file 10 KB

Very grateful in advance for any help in the resolution of this one...

    Tony

The catalog you posted (126 KB) is an empty catalog.

Search your entire computer *.pse9db and point the largest room Organizer.

  • Moving files not in the catalog

I want to move my images and LR catalog on an external drive.  I have a question before I try it though.

I have LR, a folder structure such that it resembles the following:

    My pictures-> our Stuff-> family-> family-originals

    My pictures-> our Stuff-> friends-> friends-originals

    My pictures-> our Stuff-> travel-> Portugal-> Portugal-originals

    etc.

And I have imported only the image files of the "family-Originals'"Friends-originals"and"Portugal-originals"(Jose where to store RAW files) in my LR catalog and I store images processed records parent 'Family', 'Friends' and 'Portugal' (which is a structure of remnant of my time pre - LR).

So, since I drag to a different drive, Our Stuff will be in LR, all folders and files are transferred, in addition to the files in the catalog, such as the files in the cases parents, family, friends, travel, and Portugal, which are the result of LR treatment but are not in the catalogue?

    Thank you

    Steve

When I need to move a large number of files I do in the operating system, and then in LR I re - associate (NOT re-import) images. It's easy when your images are under a folder parent as yours seem to be (Our Stuff or my pictures). It also has the advantage of moving all files in the same folders that are not in the catalog. Here are the steps.

    1. go to the settings of your catalog and choose to save the next time you quit LR and then quit LR to create a recent backup of your catalog. Also make sure you have a good backup (or two) of the image files. Remember that the catalog does NOT contain your images and a backup of the catalog is NOT a backup of your image files.

    2. with LR does not, copy the folder (Our Stuff or MyPictures in your example) relative to its new location. Now, you will have files in the same folder structure (this is important) in both places.

    3. now start LR. If the parent folder does not click with the right button on any folder and choose "show parent folder." Once the parent folder's display, right-click on it and choose "Update folder location" and choose the new location of the parent folder. This should re - associate this folder and the contents of all subfolders. You should see the question mark disappears.

4 rename the folder parent of origin in the operating system. This will break any remaining link LR can contain. If you have properly re-associate your files then no.? icons should appear on your records.

Once you are sure that all your images are properly associated to the new location, you can delete the folder parent of origin.

If something does go wrong, you can always return to your backup catalog.

  • Cannot rename the folders or files

    Hello

I have an older Toshiba laptop that works under Windows XP. For some time, I can't rename my files or folders. I looked at the properties and noted that they are marked as "read only". I change it and apply it, but then he doesn't remember this setting and goes back to read-only.

When I click on 'File' link 'Rename' is gray and I can't do a right-click on the name so that it can allow the amendment. I do not understand why this should suddenly happen, I've looked through the different menus and settings and you don't see nothing obviously wrong! Help, please!

    See you soon

    GMC

seems that something in your registry is not clear. In this case I reinstall the operating system and back up your files that cannot be renamed.

Otherwise, if you want to keep the operating system, and then simply click on the following link and read this thread (check the last post...): http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1131736977

    That should help you.

  • Can not stop cryptographic services to rename the Catroot2 folder.

    Hello

I recently bought Halo 2 for WIndows Vista and tried to run it on my pc, which uses windows 7 Home premium. Since I installed the game, whenever I play it stops, saying that "Games for Windows Live could not... etc" I looked up the solution on a microsoft forum, and he said to rename the folder c:\windows\system32\catroot 2 by stopping the cryptographic service. ""

Whenever I try to stop the cryptographic service, I get:

    System error 5: access denied

I tried running the cmd as administrator prompt, and I get the message: "the application pause, continue or stop is not available for this service"

I can also rename the Catroot2 folder, as he always says: ' this folder could not be renamed because it is already in use... etc ", but I think it's because I have not stopped the cryptographic service".

What I'm doing wrong and what should I do to fix this?

    Hello

    ·        Are you logged on to the computer as administrator?

You try to stop the service in safe mode and check what is happening. To start in SafeMode followed the link given below.

  • How to batch rename the files from SomeNumber.dwg to SomeNumber_TA.dwg?

I can't install additional programs (unfortunately), so I was hoping the "ren" command in cmd propmt would work, but it just points _TA.dwg at the end of my file instead of replace it. Help!

    Thank you.

You might want to try the freeware "Bulk Rename Utility" (DAUGHTER-IN-LAW).  I know will say you that you can not install additional programs, but BRU has a version that does not install (just decompress anywhere and run) more a few versions that run from the command prompt.  Click on the following link and go to the section "other files":
