Repair hard disk?

I have Drive Genius installed on my mini. I get the following message: incorrect # file hard links. Volume was found damaged and must be repaired.

I can do a volume control, but I am unable to do a repair. In the new operating system, disk utility is of no help. The HD should be replaced, or y at - it a program that will fix the volume of th? I have AppleCare up to 3/16.

What exactly happens when you repair via disk utility?

If this is your startup disk, you must repair when you're responsible for collection

If it is not repairable there is most likely damaged and must be replaced.

  • Drive light external HARD disk Warrior exploded

I use DiskWarrior do a reconstruction of the hard drive to save the files, if possible. Hard drive does not appear on the desktop, which had been seen as a USB device on system information. During the reconstruction, the Seagate external HARD disk light exploded and is no longer visible to the Profiler system as a USB device. Should I cancel the reconstruction? Should I try disk referee to 'stabilize' the disc and run Disk Warrior?

Can you describe the real problem which caused you to run DiskWarrior "to save the files?  Who can provide a clue about your current situation.

If DiskWarrior' forever,' you have to cancel rebuild it later.  How long it has beed running?  It may take time, if repairs are done by DiskWarrior.

DiskWarrior works repairing data directory player (which defines where the files are stored).  There are other types of utilities who hunt the disc for actual data.  For example

  • Satellite T130-hard disk/disk-Start Up question

    Hello

I have a T130 2 years old that I use every day for work and have known no problem at all with him until a few days ago, when I noticed that it was taking longer than usual, to power.

I checked all of my updates were up-to-date they are as far as I am aware of the Tempro and Windows. I did an AVG scan and nothing came out of the ordinary there and I'm still more than a third of the space on my hard drive.

Everything was going well for a few days then yesterday when I tried to turn on the laptop wouldn't turn on at all--after several tries, on what he finally came and I kept it in sleep/stand by mode until I find what is happening. I ran the Diagnostic PC tool and everything is coming as a PASS except for the hard disk which appears in case of FAILURE. My USB pen is not registered when I try to use it. That said when I checked the PC Health Monitor, it says that my HARD drive was working and that my hard drive was 'good '.

I assume from the above that there can only be one disk hard question - what is my next step? This kind of thing is easy to repair? Am I covered for what is a matter of product and less than five years, since I bought the laptop?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

If the HARD drive is not present in the BIOS, you will need to replace the HARD drive with a new one.
Do you know how to access the BIOS?
Switch on and press the F2 key. Now, you should check the first page of the BIOS. Usually the CD/DVD drive and the HARD drive must be included with all the details.
If the BIOS could not recognize the HARD drive, this means that the HARD drive is faulty.

To my knowledge, you could use a simple 2.5 HDD.
Here is a beautiful statement containing a few photos and film how to replace HDD on T130 series.

  • E4N79EA #UUG: hard disk failure

Disk hard diagnosis fails with error GU077V-6R7899-MFGJXG-60SV03 code.  What is the restore/repair for this?

    Dear customer,

Whenever the hard drive test short DST fails indicating that the hard drive has failed and which needs to be replaced to solve the problem

This problem could be due to an Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, incorrect judgments, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power so portable, sudden falls etc...

HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:

Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.

Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds

Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)

Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the faulty HDD through SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the drive HARD and reinstall the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files. • Satellite P300 - 190 PSPC2C - water spill and the HARD disk does not appear on the Setup

    Hello

Spilled water on the keyboard. Laptop has stopped working.
Dried, but did not recognize the HDD start up and HDD does not Set - up.
Moved the HARD drive to another location of the HARD drive on the laptop and it appears at startup and boot OK.
Is there an easy way to find and repair the defective HARD drive slot?

    Thanks for any help.

    PK

    Hello

The HARD drive slot is not repairable. It s a HARD disk controller and I guess the HARD disk controller is dead.
The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if you want to repair it, so the entire motherboard must be replaced.

New motherboard would cost a small fortune he of not good about market 350Euros
That's why I put t think it is s to replace the mobo only to get the HARD drive in the first location of work

    This is my personal opinion...

  • Satellite Pro L650 - hard disk is not initialized.

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L650 and I am having some problems.

It all started a few weeks ago, I received the dreaded screen black death (windows could start, but then just came up with a black screen and a cursor. After playing well, I thought that a reinstall of windows would do the trick.

It worked, but none of my pilots have been installed... After much research, I found my Toshiba repair disc. I put in and went to fix it. At half way through formatting the drive, it came with an error, saying that he was unable to delete a specific file, it asked me to reset.

So I reset, and it came with a screen with "this disc is not initialized, Please initialize now."
So I pressed Yes, and it resets, it came with the same screen. and again and again.

So that's where I am. It is only a year old, and already got the replaced disk. I'm desperate difficulty, I don't want it to become a grammage of paper-dear...

First of all I m wondering why the message appeared saying that the disk is not initialized have you used the Toshiba restore for the OS installation disc or have you used any other Windows disc?

On the other hand, it might be possible that your HARD drive is malfunctioning, the cursor blinking in the upper left corner is a sign for this fault
So I recommend you to check the HARD drive. Use a tool like Drive Fitness Test, for example, it helps you to check the HARD disk
If errors will be displayed so the HARD drive needs to be replaced

  • 3T to Toshiba Canvio DWC130 quite dead external HARD disk

My external DRIVE of Toshiba drive gives no sign of life. Connect the power supply, absolutely no noise is heard. I measured current consumption. There is no power. Sounds like a fuse is broken.
It could be easy to repair, but if I try to prosecute, I lost a guarantee.
If I send my HARD drive to the service, I can lose my data.

is it possible to prosecute to do a backup of a drive without losing a guarantee?

    > is there a way to prosecute to do a backup of a drive without losing a guarantee?
I don t think so. Any changes made to the HDD case will void the warranty.
To be honest I m not very well if the HDD can be repaired.

If only one HARD drive controller (which is part of the the HARD disk envelope) is defective, the data on the disk HARD isn't affected and it should be possible to access the files using another enclosure.

In the case where failures of HARD drive (HDD) and the data is affected, it would be very difficult to get these recovered data. In most cases, special tools and procedures are needed to recover these files.

Anyway, in your case, I would recommend talking with the guys from service options are possible.

  • Satellite Pro 4200: is a Toshiba Software to check available HARD disk?

    Hello

My 4200 Pro Satellite got too hot and the hard drive was struck by who (scandisk stops at 84%, very slow data access). Is there any available Toshiba Software with which I can check the HD and get a diagnosis?

    Thank you

    Hi Ben,

I'm not aware of any software specific to Toshiba, but you can still use the Microsoft CHKDSK utility to scan and repair your hard disk sectors. You can access this by right-clicking on the drive icon in my computer-> properties-> tools.

  • 'Built by HARD disk error' in Portege R200

    Hello

My Portege R200 shows "built-in HARD disk error" start-up. " In the BIOS screen, it says "no drive" on the HARD drive.

What should I do? I checked the connection and the drive is connected to the fine. I heard no noise when starting.
Is this HARD drive problem? or maybe motherboard? Help!

    The HARD disk rotates upward?

Try resetting the BIOS to default settings.

Other than that, I think that it's not just you can do except send the laptop to a repair center.

  • Equium L350 starts (led on) but no HARD disk activity

    Hi all

I got this Toshiba Equium L350D since September 2008 and it has not been used often, it worked fine two days ago, but yesterday I turned on it, with attached cord and the "cap" light came and was solid, and has therefore the power and battery indicators, I could hear the fan and the light on the cd/dvd was on. But that's all, no hard disk activity at all.

I could not turn off without unplugging the power cable and remove the battery as the power button does not seem to make a stop if pressed during 10 seconds.

All the advice, set apart from taking it to a repair center, because I really don't want to spend too much money on it.

    Hi dude

I think that you have no choice as to contact a technician for laptop.
The point is that this issue sounds like a hardware problem serious, I think of the mother or the CPU issue because it was not possible to stop the unit by pressing the power button for 10 seconds

The laptop was purchased in September 2008?
Well, if you have saved the laptop on the Toshiba driver European page then the guarantee must be valid for 24 months. Which means that the guarantee must be still valid
So you should not have to pay anything
