Repair / replacement of related files by using "Apply to all"

I changed the name of three files before opening a document that each of these three files used six times a piece.

When you open the file, I have met with a dialog box indicating that the file did not the renamed files. (I waited and wanted it).

I selected the check box 'Apply to all' and relinked files, expecting to select each file once, and let the computer do the rest, but I ended up having to recreate a link to each of the eighteen files individually. It made no difference that I clicked on 'Repair' or 'Replace' after selecting the check box.

Anyone know why the box 'Apply to all' does not work properly?

The behavior is "as planned", I can say. HAVE preserved the name of the original file, transforming each duplicate in a separate object. There is no replacement for real instantiation and punctual. Apply it to all the option never works, if you move the files to a different location, but don't rename them, at least from my experience. It may have been intended to operate differently in the long and dark past AI, but if so, it's now an obsolete feature...

  • Replace an old file with another update

I'm new to legacy, but I think I saw how to do this somewhere...  After importation and use of an illustrator in an animation file, I needed some items display in the file. Is there a way to import this updated file and replace the old file.

When you replace the old file with the new only the new file keep all animations and effects applied to the previous file?

Or this option does not even exist?

Also does make a difference if you have imported the file as a composition vs images?

    Thank you.

There are several ways to do this:

    1. Close AE, edit your .ai file without adding all the new layers and then reopen AE
    2. Select the .ai file in the project Panel, and then choose Edit Original in the menu
    3. Edit your file .ai with AE remains open, then select the file in the Panel of the program to the layer that you have changed and right-click and choose reload file
    4. Finally, do a completely new .ai file import as a model, then replace the layers in your comp by pressing the alt/option key and do drag the layer previously selected in the timeline panel.

  • Replace the baggage files and maintain links

    Hello-

I need to replace a file of baggage in my current RH7, with a new version of doc project. How to maintain links to the document so that I don't have to change the properties of binding in each project file? Or if not possible, how to identify which documents are currently related to this baggage file so I can edit hyperlinks? Thank you!

    Hello

For my money, I think that a more secure approach would be to always use the same file name for the file of baggage. Just make the difference in the level of the source.

For example, call the RedRabbit baggage file if you want, but on your hard drive (or anywhere where you store the file), you have RedRabbit Version One. Simply copy and rename so that you can easily replace the baggage file. In this way, you don't have to play muddy muck with Binder and search and replace and all that rot.

  • Cannot modify READ ONLY file attributes using the administrator account

I tried the windows Explorer and a custom program called Directory Opus. I tried to create several administrator accounts, but not luck.

I can't work with this existing problem.

    I need a solution.

I have exactly the same problem.  Following the steps above did not work, folders/subfolders unchangeable rest.  I am the owner of the folder and subfolders.  I don't know yet how they became Read-Only to start.  Read-only on the individual files setting works correctly.  Changing the settings of file does not work.

    IMPORTANT EDIT:

According to a message from the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
You cannot view or change the read-only or system attributes
To summarize, Windows does not include system or read-only folders settings (he was aware of these properties on the FILES however).  Individual applications that you use cannot ignore the State of read-only on a folder and can give an error.  In my situation, an application was trying to create a new file in a folder that has been marked read-only and honored the RO parameter and refuses to try to create the new file.

To actually change these attributes, properties menu will not work.  The KB source:

    • If you click apply changes to this folder only , the read-only attribute is changed for all files in the folder. However, the read-only attribute is not changed for the folder, its subfolders or files in its subfolders. If you click apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files , the read-only attribute is changed for all files in the folder and all files in the subfolders. However, the read-only attribute is not changed for the folder or its subfolders.

To change these properties, the user must start a Terminal command line and execute the changes by hand, for example, this command:

    • attrib - r + s c:\test

.. What will remove the READ ONLY parameter and apply the SYSTEM setting in the folder.  Once more, change the properties of files (including files in subfolders) works as expected with the right click - Properties-> Security menu.

    Hello Chris,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have any questions, by making a backup of Windows. In the meantime, please try to follow the following suggestions to solve the problem.

You can try putting your computer clean boot state, and then try to perform a backup and see if that helps. Follow the link below to get you computer in a clean boot state, because your system in a clean boot state allows to identify whether third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot. See the link to perform the clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: See "How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair .

If that doesn't help then try to find the bad sectors on the hard disk and then perform a backup, see if that helps. Run the disk check to find and fix errors on the disc.

    (a) click Start, type cmd, right click on cmd and click run as administrator

    (b) at the prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and press to enter.

    (c) try to save and check the result.

Visit this link for more information on "check a drive for errors":

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/check-a-drive-for-errors

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

I hope this helps. Otherwise, feel free to write us again and we will be happy to help you.

    Hi Ron,

You can copy or move information (for example, text and pictures) between files and programs using temporary storage called the Clipboard. The Clipboard is not visible, so even if you use it to copy and paste information, you never actually see the Clipboard when you do this.

The Clipboard contains a block of information at a time. Whenever you copy information to the Clipboard, the old contents of the Clipboard is replaced by the new information.

When you shut down the computer everything is stuck in the memory of the Clipboard is cleared.
