Repair window Defender

Defender of the window is not turn on

Hi window Defender does not work

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers.

You receive error messages?  If so, what are they? Please post them here

Did you install Antivirus software, such as McAfee, Norton, or Symantec?  If so, these programs usually turn off Windows Defender and so it does not start.  Or if you use Windows OneCare?  OneCare disables Defender as well.

Please check and make sure that the Windows Defender Service is started:
Click Start
Right click on computer
Click on Manage (if prompted enter your user name and password)
Under Services and Applications, click Services
Amine in Windows Defender - if it is not started, start it

Please post here the results of the above - thank you Ken

    Hello

There is no option for Defender uninstall/reinstall and no download available because it is part of the Windows 7 operating system.

    And read this:

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

    Hello

    1. may I know the version of the Windows operating system you have? It's windows XP, Vista, Windows 7?

Search your computer for viruses and malicious software.

Viruses and malicious software (malware) can cause often Internet Explorer slow down or stop working.

    Microsoft safety scanner

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection. For a real-time protection that helps you keep your home or small office PC against viruses, spyware and other malicious software, download Microsoft Security Essentials.

  • Error 0 x 80096001, several errors when trying to install MS VS 2008, Vista SP1 and when you try to run Windows update or Windows Defender.

Hello. I wanted to run Visual Studio 2010 Express edition on my Vista Home Premium, but ran into way too many problems. First of all, download have not installed because of a problem with the installation of .NET framework v4.0. Then I tried to VS 2008, but has encountered the same problem with the .NET framework. Whenever I try to run Windows update, it displays error Code 80096001 and said "Windows could not check for new updates. So I tried to download .net directly from microsoft downloads, but whenever I try to install it, it says I need to turn on .net "turn on or off windows features", in the control panel. I tried, but the list is completely empty, it shows nothing at all. I downloaded the vista sp1, but it too installation stops with error code 0 x 80096001.
I tried to disable my anti-virus (avg free). Windows Defender does not initially upward or through subsequent attempts to run it. It shows the same error code. Please advise on how I can solve these problems and use Visual Studio... it's very frustrating because I never had these problems with XP... everything worked.

Seems like a lot of corruption. Try Windows 7 repair:

Also have a related problem about MS Maliciouws software removal tool. For download, but read in the KB that: in XP, the vacuum cleaner will remove the malware, but doing so may trigger the File Protection Win with damages to my operating system.  the tool will attempt to repair the damage, but to rehabilitate prior to infection, that I need to insert the CD of Win. As my computer came with Windows preinstalled, I do not have a disk and will not take the risk of damage, that I can't fix. Do I not download or not... ? Another solution... ?  I also fear that this tool could settle into the routine Win Update and need guidance on the prevention of this facility, if possible, or what to do if it cannot be prevented.

It can have nothing to do with any of the foregoing. Hello

    ·         You have Microsoft Security Essentials on your computer?

If you have windows installed on your computer security essentials, then you will not be able to install Windows defender. Windows Security Essentials has antispyware component installed.

You get the error because you have installed MS Security Essentials, which has its own function to antimalware. You don't need or want to install Windows Defender, too. Leave MS Security Essentials installed and do not turn it off.

Yesterday I received a message, I thought that since Windows, saying my PC had a few critical trogens, viruses, etc., and that I needed to remove. I was tasked to analyze, and I did. The results identified a lot of not-so-serious serious. While they wanted to withdraw money!

I searched the internet to find that Defender Internet will have to be uninstalled, and there would also be a charge for this. I called 1 866 610 3136, supposed to Support amd window got omnitechsupport. After three hours they convinced me that they could solve the problem and offer a service customer year for $139!

3 hours later, when they couldn't get it repaired, I signed their stop live chat.

I was able to scan my computer for the problem with the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware they installed (even if the technicians could not do) and was a success!

    I asked my money.

Now, my question is why Windows allowed this to happen in the 1st place?
