Repeat the installation of XP SP2 SP3 chess & (0xc0000005 error message)

original title: repeated failure of XP SP2 SP3 installation &

Computer - 32-bit intel running Win XP SP1. Before the blue screen of death and sys fatal error: "logon windows process is complete w / status of 0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)" computer ran SP2.  However once I got XP with the ERD installation, system not subsequently install SP2 (which has no x 3). Before the blue screen of death, I had a lot of crashes with IE and had tried to install SP3 several times (at least 4 x and it has always failed).  Last week, cleaned the registry with CCleaner and today cleaned registry with Windows Registry Editor (that I got from MS and installed the code in Notepad and ran). SP 2 fails to install. At first there was a message. So I uninstalled Norton, thinking that may be preventing them working right. (Since I had Norton until today I think not machine is infected.) After cleaning the registry, I got a new error: "Entry point procedure DecodePointer is not found in KERNEL32.dll dynamic link library" is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

Since its impossible to say what your registry cleaning did I think that at this point I would do the following:

(1) download and create the startup disk check utility of your HD manufacturers site, for example SeaTools for WD drives

(2) create the memeory bootable checking the utility from www.memtest.org

(3) assuming that the two utilities do not present any errors

(4) pure install winxp, deleting all partitions, create a new one, and then continue with the installation

(5) install the drivers, if you have a driver disk provided by the manufacturer of the PC, otherwise, create an internet connection, enable the windows firewall, do NOT install any programs or admit MSUpdate run

(6) If a large PC manufacturer for example Dell / Hp or laptop then visit this site of decision-makers, specific to your model and update all drivers, if a generic PC card so if material individual responsible, for example the motherboard, sound, video, these last two are not on board the motherboard

(7) then run MSUpdate, configure it to Important updates ONLY, and NO updates recommended - you may need to repeatedly run MSUpdate

(8) then check the operation of your PC. Unless you have the latest version of Norton I forget and try http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

(9) only after all seems okay if you think about installing software
