Replace cable Ribbon keyboard T420

Hello!

Lately I had washed my keyboard too well so he started to throw little surprizes me. Like hitting the 't', but rather 't6' key or only the sound buttons work at all. Of course, it was replaced by a new one which was supported by my model. And only a new isn't everything. A few things guard bothering me, like a different pressure, you must make a request to press a button or a little more large enter key and so on. In any case, I was wondering is it physically possible to change my old tablecloth by the new keyboard keyboard?

Thank you

The initial problem looks more like a problem in the matrix under the keys. Not on cable, but by replacing the cable is not a good idea anyway. The cable and contacts of keyboard are connected with contacts that are held together by bonding between the contacts. It does not work as well when it is removed and replaced

  • Portege R500 - replacement of the keyboard - success

After buying a new keyboard for the R500 on EBay about a year ago, I finally blew the courage to replace a badly scratched by a new keyboard. The reason I've waited? I was worried about how to get out the old keyboard (it is locked down to the chassis, and it was obvious that I have would hurt one during the withdrawal.

There is a nice write-up general on how to disassemble a R500 here:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Portege-R500/disassemble-laptop-remove-hard-drive.htm

The description above is not to discuss the keyboard however, so here's some additional information and tips:

    * Read this whole procedure before you start - it's simple, but not for the faint of heart.

    * Shut down, unplug the power, remove the battery.

    * Make sure that you have the correct keyboard for your model. The US keyboard is p/n G83C000903US for example. One I removed was a Rev 1 and a new one, I had a Rev 2 (don't know the difference - they look identical). They can get as low as $40-mais check the part number before you buy.

    * The keyboard connector is located under the computer, and so you will have to take off from the bottom, carefully following the instructions in the link above.

A couple of notes: (a) the cable Ribbon PCMCIA connector must be opened to disconnect the cable, as this is the only thing that prevents you from removing the bottom of the computer. You can easily do so through access memory on the back door, but BE careful not to damage the cable lock. It works by switch to the top the little plastic lever that is held in place by small pieces of plastic on the sides of the connector that flex * a little *. Be gentle with this connector. When you put it back later-connector, if you placed the cable all the way into the connector, you can lock with only slight pressure down on the connector, and it will snap into place.

    (b) there are other types of cable Ribbon connectors use too. For example, to unlock the keyboard connector, now visible also on the bottom of the deck, slide both ends of the connector in the direction where the cable plugs in. They are snug and will only move about 1/4 ", be gentle but firm.

    (c) the two tiny connectors blocks free access to the water of the keyboard do not have locks on them. We're a band with only a few drivers, and one is a red and white power connector. Just pull out them. All the other connectors, you will probably miss through requires unlocking, so be careful!

_Now back to the keyboard: _

Once you have managed to disconnect his cable on the bottom, turn the laptop and start to remove the keyboard on the edges. It is supported by many small pieces of sticky tape, 2 faces, and that's it. As the base of the keyboard is made of aluminum, it is likely that you will distort the keyboard a bit as release you it, even though it may be downplayed maybe using a tool like a rule or something plastic and pry with it. Take care of not to damage the connector of the Ribbon and try to ignore these scary cracking sounds that identify each section!

Once you have turned it off, you must remove any excess tape before starting point and again put a bunch of small pieces of new, good quality 2-sided tape (such as 3 m). No need to use anything stronger or thicker - just put a bunch of parts everywhere on the base, especially near the edges and the space key.

Now, finally, turn the keyboard in position, making sure that you screw the connector back Ribbon through to the correct place. Turn the laptop over and re - insert and lock the Ribbon connector (make sure that it is directly and fully forward lock connector). All other connectors back in too. Then come back and push down hard on all sections.

Re-assembling, taking care to put the 4 mm and 6 mm screws in the right places and a tiny on the side.

Cross your fingers and turn it on!

    Good luck!

    Thank mate for this review.
Generally the replacement of keyboard is not really complicated and someone with small technician skills should be able to replace it

  • AT200 - need an exclusive replacement cable

    Hi all

Please help I need an exclusive replacement for my AT200 cable, Ive lost the original I know stupid and know that I must replace lead rare stupid thought the Toshiba with the addition of the port as a way to recharge.

Also, I can't install the software updates Toshiba via USB.

Ive checked out the official site of Tohisba UK he mentions reseallers etc, but can't find one in stock everywhere and if I come across one am shocked at how much they cost please help.

I tried most of the web and I think I'll have to ring Toshiba direct but can't justify spending £35-40 on a leash.

Ive tried loading via a charger 2Amp via micro Usb wire but it's too slow, even you charger outputs 2amps am unsure of the micro usb cable or port on the AT200 allows anything above 1 ampere, if even that.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that the compatible adapter AT200 (AC ADAPTER (UK) 2PIN 10W 2A) has a reference number: A200000340. Compatible USB cable has a reference number: A200000140

I think that available in your country ASP could provide all of these parts

  • Satellite A300 - replacement for the keyboard button problem

Satellite A300 broken my number key 3.
Easy to fix but still Toshiba have charged me £43 to replace it with a new full keyboard.
It is less than 6 months old and still under warranty.

What an absolute joke, I wouldn't have another toshiba again.

    > What an absolute joke, I wouldn't have another Toshiba again.
Well, it is your personal opinion but I agree.

However, if you understand something about laptops so you'd know that the single button can not be replaced.
Only the CAP can be replaced but not the button on the keyboard, and thus the entire keyboard needs to be replaced!

In addition, the guarantee only covers hardware problems that are not caused by laptop user I n don't know why the button on your keyboard is broken (maybe you was your fault) but I think that you have contacted the ASP in your country and talked to the technician then why you didn't explain that it wasn't your fault?

In any case, the case should be clear now

  • Replacement cables SHC68-68-EPM?

I have a PXI-6363.  The recommended cable is the SHC68-68-EPM cable.  I have one of these practices, but need 2.  I found a couple of unused cables carrying around (NI SHC68-68 - RMIO & SHC68 - 68 - RDIO).  Can I use one of these as a substitute for a cable EPM?

I am not convinced that you can simply replace them and if they don't work it wouldn't be ideal. On the one hand, the SHC68-68-EPM cable specifies that it ends by a shift of VHDCI 68 pin, while others are just VHDCI, but I was not able to find information about the difference. In addition, they list compatibility for X and M series for RMIO or RDIO cable. While they are all 68 pin cables there are huge differences in grouping and shielding wire, and they are all optimized for different features/data acquisition cards. I found the mappings of wire for the EPM and RMIO which illustrates this.

  • Can I replace the standard keyboard with a backlit keyboard on this laptop?

The laptop is the Pavilion 15 p267-nr. I know that the new buildings have an option for a backlit keyboard, but I don't know about this particular model. It is possible that I would take it to a technician to do because this laptop seems very complicated to make upgrades to.  The keyboard that is currently a has not all icons in the F5 key, which is where the backlit function should be enabled on.

  • Problems with cable eSATAp on T420

I'm looking for help to find the right cable for use with my port hybrid eSATA USB Lenovo Thinkpad T420. I've tried the cables from 3 different sources, and none of them plug into the port of all the way.

I don't know if my port is damaged, or if I'm just using the wrong cable, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Here are the most recent cable I got:

    Link to image 1

Here are some photos illustrating the situation:

    eSATA pins on the port:

    Link to image 2

USB pins on the port, with the back of the visible port. No obvious barrier I see...

    Link to image 3

    the eSATA cable pins:

    Link to image 4

    Pins of the USB cable:

    Link to picture 5

As you can see from the photos, all the pins of the connector seem to match the port, except for the P12 and P13 12V power pins. These pins are present on the cable, but not on the port. However, I understand that these pins are optional...

Anyone had a similar experience? I use the right cable?

    Thank you!

I saw your post in the forum 'other' thinkpad first and unrecorded. Here's what I said:

I don't have a thinkpad with eSATA right now. My T520 has integrated graphics, (eSATA only on discrete), but I have a mother T510 here with discrete graphics card that has the same port. My eSATA cable plug AND there is a gap similar to that of your photo. I didn't measure the gap, but it is between 3 and 4mm. What does not work? Do you know that your eSATA drive requires a separate power supply? Powered eSATA ports are not generally available, and certainly, the port is not powered on yout T420. When I use a 2.5 drive "connected to eSATA, I use another cable that connects the cable power (+ than the 5V & ground) to a USB port. (USB on one end and SATA power supply on the other) I had my cable, but I'm sure you can find one on eBAY. When I use a drive 3.5 "I use a power supply from an old desk.
