Replace global invisible characters.

How can you do a global replace of two returns of paragraph for one and a global replacement of a period followed by two spaces to a period followed by a space. It is easy in Word, but I can't find how to present these invisible characters in the window replaced.

Since you don't mention the specific version of the Pages you use, I'll take an example of using v5.6.2 Pages.

Replace the two paragraph returns with one:

  1. View menu: show details
  2. Enter two paragraph returns
    1. Select both and press command-e to make these the search to find parameter
    2. Choose an answer and the Edit menu: find: use selection to replace
    3. Delete 'model' paragraph two returns that you entered to build a and b above.
  3. Press control + f to search.
    1. You may need to click on the gear icon to choose to search / replace.
    2. All successive double paragraph marks will give you an amount found
    3. Replace everything.

Replace a point followed by a double with a period and a single space:

  1. Enter a period dragged by two spaces.
    1. Select all three characters and press command-e to make the search to find parameter.
    2. Select the period, and a space to the right and then menu Edition: find: use selection to replace
    3. Delete the period and two spaces that you used to complete a and b here.
  2. Press control + f to search
    1. If you have an amount found, then click on replace all.

In Pages ' 09, the part of command-e works the same to make a selection of the target to find, but there is no Edit menu: find: selection of use to replace them. Instead, select the characters you want to use for the replacement and then drag and drop in field to replace the search dialog box.

In the case of a book where the component files are NOT open, open, edit, save and close are the expected behavior.

  • grep? Search & replace after 8 characters

    Hi all

Sorry, I can't do something that I'm sure is quite simple.

Basically I have a linked file with a static caption that is name of linked file playback, the used color chart and the date of creation. It looks like this:

    filename.AI:3

    White, blue, Red

    29/05/13

the name of the file is ALWAYS 8 characters and I would like to remove the portion of .ai:3 (what happens to) and keep the return transport.

with the color chart used, I only need the first color listed and uses grep , .*~b to remove everything after the comma at the end of the line, but it seems the same expression does not work using a. (period).

in the end, I expect to end up with this:

    file name

    White

    29/05/13

Thanks for any help. I hope that makes sense!

    s

I think that------... * $ will work. He finds all the first period in subsection from. If there is more than one period, and you do not want to remove the last and the following (as applicable), use \. [^.] *$

  • Replace special characters

    Hello

I need SQL or PL/SQL code to replace special characters such as!, @, #, $, %, ^ of the given string.

For example, if the given string is

It's test string with special characters

    Please enter the code

    Thank you

You have commas in the character set block and the [[: alnum:]] is equivalent to [a-zA-Z0-9], you may want to include a space in this updated chacter block.

    Select REGEXP_REPLACE ("This is test * strin #g to @ spe % ial charact!") ERS ',' [^ [: alnum:]] *', ")

    Output

  • $global: variable defaultVIServer gets replaced by data warehouses in PowerCLI 6.0 Release 2

I recently noticed a strange behavior with the variables global:defaultVIServer(s) of $.

The content has been change in the middle of my script. especially after sub $global: defaultVIServer.Name

    10.10.10.10 for 10.10.10.10@443

For some reason any port number was getting stuck at the end of the name field, which failed in the cmdlet Test-connection (ping).

After some research, I went down to my use of the global variable of VMware, vmstores

The following line replaces $global: defaultVIServer

    $dsList = (dir-path vmstores :)

    Code snippet

    to connect-VIServer $vctIP

    Global $: defaultVIServer | FL

    $dsList = (dir-path vmstores :)

    Global $: defaultVIServer | FL

    $dsList | FL

You can see that $global: defaultVIServer gets replaced by the data of $dsList after the dir command

    Screenshots are attached.

At least, I have to unplug my server and reconnect to solve this problem.

Is there a better way to get the list of warehouses of data (and their paths) with PowerCLI 6.0?

    Maureen

I only call this command in one place in my scripts, so I tested for a '@' char in the $global: variable DefaultViServer after this call and if I find it then I disconnect and reconnect to my servers.  This version fixes the global variable, which I use in other places in my scripts.

I didn't change my scripts having to use the other variable, $global: DefaultVIServer.ServiceUri.Host,.

because it would have been a little more difficult.

In addition, when the bug fix is implemented, I won't change my scripts.

    Extracted from:

    foreach ($server in $global: DefaultViServers)

    {

    # check if @ tank is in the name; i.e. @port_number

    If ($server. Name - match ' @')

    {

    # split the name IP address and port number

    $serverNameList = $server. Name.Split('@')

    Disconnect $serverNameList VIServer [0]

    sleep - 1 seconds

  • GREP find/replace + paragraph Styles

    Hello

I'm editing a long document and have benefited from the assistance of the community already, but being new GREP Style, find/replace, I need to ask for additional help.

Below a screenshot of the script (original). Two blocks of text you see anticipated by the icons have have styles of different paragraphs. Icons are placed like custom glyphs.

Now, the last line with C2, 9, 14,... is the target of this post. They are buses of London and I created a paragraph with another icon. The copy that I work with unfortunately is as you see. Buses will follow «;»

Resulting to place a \r after the semicolon and assign the new paragraph style. The item to work with is (probably) the last "," before the registration of the bus. All entries have it in the same way, where a search/replace global grep should work fine.

    My attempts:

I used of a previous debate (? < =------;)) [^ ;] + $ to match everything from the end until the last semicolon, but then I found the problem preserving the matched characters and placing \r (using the (? < =-;). start at the beginning and stops at each point comma + space)

So question: how to stop at the first semicolon at the end and replace the space with \r to create a new paragraph?

Then, it is two question :-)

From my previous attempts, I noticed that when you replace the semicolon + space with \r, and change the style of paragraph at a time (from Rail to Bus) caused the Rail paragraph style change (logic) to the style of Bus. So I tried to say the paragraph style of the track "Following paragraph Style is style of Bus" (and not to change the paragraph style in find/replace), but in a way that no longer works.

Second question is: given to split the find/replace in two steps, how then transform / apply to newly created paragraph the correct style of Bus?

Thank you in advance for your valuable assistance. So far, the community has been great!

    Clarification:

This query returns the line offset accordingly.

1 line of a function is driven on the request, seeing that the two text values are similar.

1 TRIM feature works TRIM (text) <>TRIM (text)

    3. used function REPLACE not working LENGTH (replace (P.TEXT, ' ')) <>LENGTH (replace (S.TEXT,' '));

I checked that a function a invisible extra character in the column of text which the query should return an incorrect value.

How to exclude the invisible character in the query?

  • flatten to a string for sending via TCP/IP contains CRLF characters

    Hello

I use a function 'flatten in string' to send data via TCP/IP.

To minimize delays, I use CRLF mode so that the receive function returns as soon as it receives a sequence CRLF (stop character).
I noticed that every now and then that part of the data is transmitted as the flattened string itself sometimes (but rarely) contains CRLF characters.
I was wondering if this is a correct behavior, or if I'm missing something. I expected to flatten to string in order to get channels pure ASCII without special characters.

Now I must first parse the string replace the CRLF characters of some known series of characters and do the opposite to the front desk and hope that that particular sequence never occurs.

    Any comment is appreciated,

    Manu

    mkdieric wrote:

I don't know why you would think this. A CR or LF is no more extraordinary than any character. In addition, the string you out is not "ASCII" and has never been--check the documentation. The output is entirely dependent on the entry, and it is perfectly possible to get a (hex 13) CR followed by a LF (10 hex) if the entry would produce flattened data which means that.

A better method, in my opinion, is to precede that you send with the number of bytes to wait. Then beside reception read you a fixed number of bytes for the numerical value that indicates the number of bytes comes, and read you this amount. The examples provided with LabVIEW show you this method.

  • How to save the string in a file with some special characters

    Hello

    I m using MD5 - llb to create a password.

So, I want to save this MD5-string to a file and read it later abd compared again.

    Works perfectly with a proplem:

Some Word create a '\r' in the string of MD5 and when I save this string in a file and read it at the time its read as a '\n' for the comparison does not work.

My question is: How can I record a string exactly as if it were somewhere and read back (also the invisible characters)

    For example, the word: heinz

is in MD5: \r\FB^\07\A6\07T\C7\D9\C2\94\AB\C9\1DS\95 (string as display codes indicator)

When I save the string in a file, then I rerad back: \n\FB^\07\A6\07T\C7\D9\C2\94\AB\C9\1DS\95

I used the "write text file" and "read text file".

What should I use to record and play back the same thing?

  • Characters not visible (caused by hitting the bar space or TAB in PL/SQL developer tool) causing slow running query? and database with low performance?

    Hi all

I need your help to get this issue resolved its urgent and I'm not able to get to the conclusion. Here is my scenario, I'm getting slow query runs because of some non-visible characters that are copied with the application of the PL/SQL developer tool. Please find below attached screenshot: Oracle_Issue

    Oracle_Isssue.png

Note: This non-visible characters are caused when we write the query then us hit the SPACEBAR or press TAB PL/SQL developer tool

I use the developer tool PL/SQL to write or test the query. Now I take this request copy paste in my application of the company (who takes this query connects to Oracle or any source of data base, catch data and produce PDF reports for customers).

Now, my client is the Oracle user when I write and you run this query by the PL/SQL Developer, it works fine, but when I paste in my Inbox feature request (reporting system) and run it, it runs slower and jams to the customer database. Now after a little research I found that when I copy the query directly from PL/SQL developer at my request, he copy some characters not visible (introduced when we press SPACE or TAB in PL/SQL developer tool when writing query) with the request, then I copy this query again to my box of the application Notepad and delete these non-visible characters. Now, after removing the non-visible characters again once I copy backup question in my application and run the query, it works normally. Please find below attached screenshot: Oracle_Issue 2

    Oracle_Isssue_2.png

So I think that the cause of slow performance is due to some INVISIBLE CHARACTERS present in the query.

My application uses SQL server 2008-2012 at the backend to store data from different sources.

    Character set used: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS

To write and test queries: PL/SQL developer tool

My Client use Oracle 11 g

Character set used: Normal character: NLS_CHARACTER: AL16UTF16

    National Characeter: NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTER: WE8WIN1521

I just wanted to know the blocking process to the top of the database and the characters not visible how affecting slow running query of query database.

Please let me know if I'm missing something or you need more information on this issue.

    Thanks in advance,

    HP

    Simple answer. No.

Spaces and line breaks do not change the execution plan created. Does not plan to run slower or faster.
