Replace HDD on a Satellite M50-A-110

Hello

I just bought a new Satellite M50-A-110, and I wanted to replace the HARD disk provided with the laptop with my existing SSD.

Unfortunately, there is no way (that I could find) to reach the HARD-drive Bay.
In previous versions I could replace hassle at all, but here the whole bottom panel is in a piece of plastic that I couldn't remove.

Can someone help me please?
Is there a trick to remove the bottom panel that I'm not aware of?

Thank you for your help in advance and good luck,

Hello

Well, the HARD disk and memory modules or battery are placed under the plastic cover at the bottom of the unit.
You will need to remove the cover and plastic to get access to these parts.

To my knowledge, there are 12 screws that fix the bottom cover.
Then you could gently remove the lower logic of the top by lifting the edge of the lower part of the right angle.

  • Access to Boot to install Satellite M50-A-110 problem

    Hello

I just bought a Satellite M50-A-110 and wanted to install Win 7.

Problem is that I have difficulties to access the bios press F2, esc, or DELETE...

It worked (twice) if I could change boot USB (with a bootable USB key that I used on other computers to install win 7), still does not begin to earn 8...

So I formatted the hard drive to get rid of all the partitions and win 8.

Replaced the hard drive, insert the USB and now I have this message:

"Reboot and select proper boot device."
or Insert boot media in selected boot and press device any key..."

    So my questions are:

-Are known issues with the m50-a-110, in the start menu? and what is the key / key combination, that I push?
-This would be installing win 7 can only be achieved with a USB 3.0? (2 slots USB 3.0 and USB 2.0)

Thank you for your help in advance and good luck,

Hello and thanks for the comments. On a site I m happy to know that you have solved your problem, but on the other hand, it is not the best solution.

Have you really taken apart your laptop to access the CMOS battery? I mean, after this action, your warranty is no longer valid.

On this forum you can find numerous threads about the same question, where is explained what needs to be done about it and what steps are required to install Win7 on new models of laptops with preinstalled Win8 / Win8.1.

What needs to be done first is the full stop - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm
After doing this, it is possible to enter the BIOS settings and change the secure boot settings.

I just hope that you have created a recovery (DVD or USB) media until you have formatted your HARD drive.

In any case, good luck with your machine.

  • Satellite M50-A-110 - wireless turns down running 8.1 Win

I've recently bought a portable Satellite M50-A-110 with Windows 8

It is initially connected to my router (but),
I could load a page on the browser and the connection then turns down

I updated to Windows 8.1, put to update the driver, chose the intel driver against the windows one, zero, the router, disabled some settings tcp/ip (web help), still nothing.

I can only connect by cable.

My router works fine with the other laptop, Tablet, mobile phone.
I have a Mc McAfee Firewall, which I disabled it temporalily but the problem persists

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

Have you noticed this disconnection using the laptop battery power or also during its connected to the power adapter mode?

In case this happens only in battery power mode, it would be possible as the system powers OFF the WLan to save power.
In this case, I recommend two verification options:

    1) go to Device Manager-> card WLan-> properties-> tab power management
Check here if the option to shut down unit is not checked.

    (2) Variant 2 should be checked in the Windows power management. Here, you can set the WLan card option to the performance.

By the way: according to the specifications of the laptop the laptop is equipped with Intel card Wireless - N 7260 WLan that supports the 802.11 b/g/n standard.

Here is a page of the driver Intel where you can download the latest driver Intel Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260
    [Drivers Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 | https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+ Networking & ProductLine = Intel % C2% AE + Wi - Fi + products & ProductProduct = Intel % C2% AE + double + band + Wireless - N + 7260 & ProdId = 3716 W & LineId = 1784 & FamilyId = 1783]
I recommend you test the 16.6.0 driver version

If you have time, try an experiment: you can see the different WLAN channels: you must pass in the router settings as well as in properties (Advanced tab) Wlan card

  • Satellite M50-A-110 does not recognize the new SSD?

    Hello

I bought the M50-A-110 model and tried to replace the HARD drive by a Pro 840 Samsung SSD. The laptop does not recognize the SSD drive, so I sent him to the local Toshiba service for inspection.

They discovered that the laptop does not recognize ALL of the latest SSD (they tried to Samsun, Intel, Crucial, Kingston and SSD Seagate). They checked, and I possible newer BIOS, so this isn't a problem, and the SSD worked fine on other computers.

Someone knows how to solve this mess?
Toshiba has a BIOS beta I could try?
Any other ideas would be welcome.

As a user of long date Toshiba, I must say that I am a little disappointed. I mean I work in it, and this is the first time that something like this happened to me with a new product.

    Hello

I can't believe that Satellite M50 - A can not handle any of the mentioned SSDS.

I upgraded my Toshiba laptop with SSD Pro 840. But before I did, the update of the firmware of SSD was necessary. Before the firmware update, the SSD has failed, after the firmware update, BIOS can handle the SSD.

I would recommend to check the SSD for the firmware update!

  • Satellite M50-A-110: Question on Windows 10 recovery

IM thinking of upgrading my M50A-110 of win8 to win10, but I have some concerns

namely, when I did the recovery on my lap top in win8 chose "remove all and reinstall windows" option.

During this operation, none of the drivers (geforce experience, drivers intel...), nor programs of utilities toshiba (gas station, office assist...), had to be installed manually, but have been installed as part of the recovery.

I like this feature so I would know what to do to keep it in win10?

Did you create a recovery (DVD or USB) media?
If Yes, you can do what you want with your laptop and to experiment with the upgrade and Windows 10.
By using this media created you can restore your original version of OS that you got with your laptop satellite.

If you don't have it, but you still have the original version of the OS please create this support and make backup recovery image. After upgrade Win10 you probably won't able to start HARD recovery disk image installation. Be careful about this.

Also, I found some vendors on ebay sell the keyboard for half as much as the Distributor and I'd like to know what you reccoment.

    Hello

    > Also, I found some vendors on ebay sell the keyboard for half as much as the Distributor and I'd like to know what you reccoment.

In many cases the different keyboard would be consistent, since most of them are supported the same hardware specifications.

With regard to the additional keyboard connector:
AFAIK the backlight keyboard must be connected to the additional connector called * JBLG *.
But to be honest, I have not found in on the photo that you placed in the post.

  • I want to replace the 40 GB HDD on Satellite M50 130

I want to replace the hard drive, because it becomes unreliable, but can't fnd the specs.
Can someone help with the exact specifications please?
Is the drive IDE or SATA?
    Size = 2.5 inches?

I think the original size is 40 GB, can I replace it with any size?

Did the removal and easy replacement? Are there instructions please?
I have a horrible feeling that there may be data recovery for the operating system on a hidden in the drive partition.

Is this correct? May only be transferred to a new hard drive?
    Thank you very much
    Nick

Satellite M50-130 has been delivered with the 2.5 "60 GB HARD drive.
This HARD disk supports a rotational speed of 5400 RPM and it supports an improved IDE (ATA 6) interface.

  • System recovery satellite M50 after replacing HARD drive

    Hello

The drive of my laptop Satellite M50 becomes rather clicky and looks like it's on its way. Replacing, it will not present any problems, but I will replace it with a drive of at least double the capacity of origin.

At one point, I had installed a Linux system and when I tried to reinstall my Windows system on a partition that is smaller than the entire recovery cd disk threw a wobbly and refused to proceed as it did not recognize the hardware profile of my portable computer, that the drive was too small.

I expect the same thing to be true once I upgraded the HARD drive.

How can I avoid this problem?

    Thanks in advance

    PK

I would like to clone the old drive if it is an option.

  • Satellite M50-226: dead Pixel-> is it possible to replace the screen

    Hello!

My Satellite M50 226 gets more and more Pixelerrors. First of all, he didn't. All of a sudden 2 or 3 dead Pixels one moment there are 3 News (6 more) Pixelerrors.

I have a Toshiba paper that says I have a warranty of Pixelerror 3. Where should I send the computer? Who do I call?
    AND: How long it takes?

    Kind regards
    Steffen Schreyer

Well, what to say the warranty could cover the replacement of the screen, but it depends on the amount of pixels and resolution.

Found several threads on the same topic. You will also find the official documents from Toshiba and statements on issues such as:

I put t know how long repairs might take, but you should contact the service provider in your country for details. They could provide useful information.

  • Re: Satellite M50: what is the difference between PA3451U-1BAS or PA3451U-1BRS battery?

I have a Satellite M50 and I'm trying to find a replacement battery.

The drum part # PA3451U-1BAS is original, but I can't seem to find that. I can find the same number with a suffix of BRS. The volts / amps etc. appear identical. The pictures make it look the same.

    What is the difference?
    It fit? Will it work?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

    Hello

As much as I know there is no difference between the two batteries.
These are the 8-cell 4400mAh battery and should be compatible with Satellite M50.

Maybe the PA3451U-1BAS is abandoned and is no longer available.

    Welcome them

  • No sound on Satellite M50, no matter what I try

    Hello.

I have a fairly new and intact Satellite M50 and its great others that I can't hear any sound at all.
    (1) I adjusted all volumes and assured that mute is not on.
    (2) no problems in Device Manager
    (3) I tried Fn Esc
    external volume control 3) completely
    (4) the problem started when I unplugged (or plugged in) external speakers to the headphone jack, somehow this which seems to be invalid cell phones, speakers, computers that worked very well until the external apeakers were attached.
    (5) on another thread, I noticed that there is a switch inside the headphone jack that disables the speakers, is there a way to check if this is the problem and any way to fix.

Any help much appreciated as I am a student and I really listen to conferences stored on the laptop.

    Thank you
    Dominic

Please connect the headphones or external speakers to the headphone jack.
If the sound is displayed then the sound card and audio driver are ok and that there must be a problem with the switch inside the plug headphones.
Maybe the switch inside the phone plug stuck

I put t think that it of possible to detach this I think that the plug needs to be replaced.
But to be 100% sure, you should ask someone with more experience as technicians service partner

  • Satellite M50 suddenly does not work

I wonder if anyone can help?
My Satellite M50 seems to have a number of very important issues:

On booting, I hear a note very acute and rather than go automatically in Windows XP, I gives me a choice of F2 (Set Up) or F12 (Menu I think it is called). If I hit the button enter the noise goes and go into Windows XP as usual.

However, I can't sound on the Satellite, either from a CD or a DVD inserted or a live video or
audio clip. I checked the control panel and audio is not muted.

Also, my 'e' character on the laptop does not register (press and no character comes on screen - I have to fix a new keyboard to the laptop to use the letter "e") BUT in Excel or when I put in a URL, I often get a complete line after the rank of the character "e" (without warning) that stops if I press the button "Esc".

I don't know if I was infected by a virus (I have Avira AntiVir Personal) & Malaware programs on the laptop, but I would be grateful for any help on this problem.

    See you soon!

    Bryan

    Hello

    I think it s a keyboard problem.
The sound that appears at the beginning of the startup procedure means that a hardware failure has been detected.
In my opinion it s related to the keyboard, since you have no keyboard under Windows OS functionality.
So I would get in touch with ASP in your country and to order a new keyboard for the replacement.

    Regarding the sound issue.
I don't know what that might be, but actually the first step should be an update of the driver or a new installation.
Check if there is no yellow/reclamation brand that reffers to the sound card!

    See you soon
