Replace the home workstation folder path local user domain different drive

I have a network with Windows 7 Pro and SBS2011 DC.  I added a new SSD as boot drive.  Since it's a small disc, I want to put home directory of the user on a different hard disk on this workstation.  If I change the home folder E:\users\ users what happens when that user connects to a computer that does not drive E:?  Is there a better way to redirect the folder to another local drive?

  • How to control access to a folder by local users in Windows Vista?

    Hello

There are two users on the PC A (Administrator), B (Standard user). I don't want B to access some folders and want to give only read only access to certain folders. Is it possible to do this in Windows Vista Home Premium or I need a third-party software to do this?

Sorry, it does appear to me that you use FAT32 (or whatever version you use) on your system partition or boot in a Vista system.  Here is an article comparting both and he concludes that you use NTFS, unless you have a very good reason for using FAT (and frankly, I can't imagine what it may be, unless you're dealing with VERY outdated and costly to replace equipment that cannot handle NTFS - but it would be EXTREMELY rare) http://www.theeldergeek.com/ntfs_or_fat32_file_system.htm.

It is very easy to convert your system from FAT to NTFS without losing all the data or need to reinstall your programs or reset your configuratations - it there simply and that's all.  Here's how (and it is very easy): http://techblissonline.com/fat32-to-ntfs-conversion-in-windows-xp-or-vista/.

In addition to the benefits listed in article first in this post (and the second too), you will be able to use security of files and folders (which was the point of all of this thread) as you hear it all through (and you probably won't have the second set of procedures to implement the Security tab, because I suspect that the conversion will automatically be added for you when all is said and done.)  You can use the procedures I mentioned in my first post for your goals.

I hope this helps.  It would be really better to convert to NTFS for various reasons (including that it allows you to do what you want to do with the security of the file/folder).

  • After replaceing the home botton

    I have the iphone 6,.

    its under warranty (1 year)

the problem is that the warranty is in Israel or the United States,

I was in Thailand and char of the screen and the home botton so I need to fix this here.

I went to the apple store, and they won't replace it.

so I need to go to the store of othere do this.

now the fingerid does not work and they said do not upgrade to IOS.

    What should I know?

    Eyal

You should know that having someone else that Apple or an Apple authorized Service provider to open the device cancels any warranty and post-warranty support. Also, a phone with Touch ID, if you have someone other than Apple replace, update your iOS usually will result in an error 53 when you try your update and will brick your phone. Apple will do nothing about it, since you had a 3rd party repair the unit. You have put yourself in a bad position. You will probably need to replace your complete device with a new / used.

  • Try to move the folder ' AppData/Local' to another hard drive without success...

    Hi all

I have a problem which seems to have been discussed here, a few years back, but it seemed no resolution at the time.

The problem is, I am trying to get my personal files moved to drive B: to the C: drive.

This to Re-partitioning of the C: drive for less of a catastrophe should my drive C: never kick the bucket.

I found the instructions online to move all (Local, LocalLow and roaming files.  The instructions worked well upward, to the folder (Local).

I can't make it move.  I checked the permissions and I should be OK here as I am the only user and administrator.  All are checked in the Security tab.

Bottom line is I have aprox. 1.7 GB of info that I probably need to move to this folder (Local) and still can not.

I am attaching a sample of the message that I get trying to move the property path.

Can someone help me out here telling me:

    (1) is it possible to move this folder?

    (2) what I lose if I have a dead hard drive, if the (Local) file is not moved to the other disk?

    (3) any person having legitimate suggestions, who has the same goal as me and want the cold hard facts to do that, we can

  • 11.1.2 the LCM what folder path

    Hey John,

A quick question! How can we do import LCM 11.1.2? I can't see anything under the Structure of files in Shared Services.
I took a 11.1.1.3 LCM export files and copied to the folder what. The path is
    D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\import_export

Is this the right path? If this is not the case, can you please post the right path?
    Thank you

    See you soon
    Abhishek

    Hi Abhishek,

    Here is the path
    D:/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/what

you need to stick the file system up to:
    Directory of D:/Oracle/middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/import_export/admin@Native

Admin@native directory is not created by default, once you migrate or take any backup file system, you will see this directory.

IF you have distributed configuration, you must search the folder in which the SSP are installed where planning is installed.

And anyway you can't migrate application 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2 using LCM, however you can use utilities to copy the previous version to a certain extent application.

  • Replace the "Devlop Presets" folder in Lightroom CC (mac)

    Hello!

Could you tell me if it is possible to change the way to develop cc lightroom presets folder?
For example, if I want to put all my presets in a folder on my desktop or my image folder. I can match that record with lightroom?

    Thank you very much!

    Tom

Lightroom does not have this option. The two choices you have are (1) stored in the catalog, and (2) is not saved with the catalog.

My recommendation is NOT with the catalog. You should be able to create a shortcut to an OS in the folder "develop presets" for ease of use.

  • Is it Possible to change the order of folder in Local mode (that is, move upward or downward?)

    Hello

This would make it easier for me locate the files.

I don't know when I created folders in what order they appear in my root folder

Unfortunately, the lists are allowed to order by the headers (name, size, type, last updated, check-in/check-out).  If you want to see more options available, please submit a feature request to Adobe.  The more details you can provide your application will be considered for review:

    Hi team,

The network drive that I drew in my computer using my profile isn't allowing me to access.

The network drive icon shows as a folder icon and it says access denied even if I have the permissions to access the file on the server.

The server we use is the exchange Server 2003.

But I am able to access the files inside the drive using the Option RUN as well as Address bar in my computer.

And I am able to access the folder on the server without any problem.

The operating system I use is Windows XP.

But it worked for someone else, when I deleted a file named autorun.inf in the folder of the shared drive on the server!

Could you please tell me what is autorun.inf and he really causes this problem in the drive on the server or is there any other reason.

Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Move the user off the system disk folders? Envy of all the data on E, so need to move directories user E. not individually, but in the world. If all new users, I create will have their user and docs folder on E.

Got a new laptop with win 7 home premium pre-installed. Using the language of win 7... I have decreased the volume of HDD to 55 GB.  Made new simple volumes. I want all the data personal on E, so need to move user directories to E. No individually change the location tab on dozens of files, but in the world. If all new users, I create will have their user and docs folder on E from the gitgo.

Under XP, I could just change the 'My Documents' link on each desktop, go to the e. * instead of c *. *, but with win7?

As a Windows Home Server and most wise OS facilities, the system drive is isolated and a drive of 2 or 3 for everything else.  Get a problem? Just restore the system drive.

PS Microsoft: This backup/do imaging software, why don't we name the image so many can all be stored on easily in one place without having to go and rename it or move them elsewhere?

    Hello TomZork,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

In another forum, I found the instructions to move folders of users to another drive.
You can follow the post here. This is attributed to Jimmie R. Houts.

    Article:
You can move the entire folder C:\Users to another drive quite easily once windows is installed:

    1. Boot from the installation media and access the command prompt (I think you need to click on fix everything first)
    2. Use Robocopy to copy C:\Users to D:\Users: robocopy c:\Users d:\Users /mir /xj
      a. /mir says robocopy to mirror directories, this will copy all files and permissions
      b. /xj is very important, it means robocopy does not follow the points of junction. If you forget this, you will have a lot of trouble.
    3. Make sure that the files copied successfully
    4. Delete c:\Users
    5. Create the junction pointing d:\Users: mklink /d c:\Users d:\Users

That's all. I used this process for Vista RTM with no problems.

Here's an article that explains as well. Just use robocopy instead of xcopy as it does in the article in order to avoid possible ntfs permissions problems.

Update: because I discovered the hard way, I thought I would mention also that if you plan on switching "Program Data", or "Program Files" with this method, you will be disappointed to know that everything works as expected, but the windows updates will install is no longer. I don't know if this problem has been fixed in Win 7.

With the foregoing, it is not a Microsoft forum or Web site so you will have to use at your own risk. I also recommend to do a system restore point before making any changes in directories that you can then go back to a previous state.

Please reply back and let us know if these suggestions help you to solve your problem, then to benefit others.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

  • Privileges of the local user to access CDB (12 c)

    Hi all

Q1: What are all the privileges if a USER SPACE (user Admin PDB) must Access or search for objects of the CBD?

    My requirement is as follows:

Using my application, I want to create a schema in PDB. As we knew that APB uses the CDB undo tablespace, when I create a schema in the PDB to my request, I want to check existence undo tablespace in CBD with the help of LOCAL USER (APB Admin user). Please help me on this.

    Kind regards

    Amar.

Q1: What are all the privileges if a USER SPACE (user Admin PDB) must Access or search for objects of the CBD?

A local user no. has privileges at the CDB - this is why it is referred to as "local user"... You must be a common user access privileges of the CBD.

See the description of architecture shared in the Oracle documentation:

    https://docs.Oracle.com/database/121/CNCPT/cdblogic.htm#CIHHDHGJ

When the current container is the root, a common user can interrogate CDB_ views to see the metadata for the root and PDB for which this user is preferred. When the current container is a PDB file, however, a user can view data dictionary for the current PDB information only. For an application connected to a PDB file, the data dictionary is displayed as it would for a non - CBD.

    See that last sentence?

    My requirement is as follows:

Using my application, I want to create a schema in PDB. As we knew that APB uses the CDB undo tablespace, when I create a schema in the PDB for my application I want to check the existence of undo tablespace in CBD with the help of LOCAL USER (APB Admin user).

No - you must verify the existence of a tablespace, undo for the PDB.

Like the doc quote above says that a PDB appears as a database file non - CBD to users the. Everything that you see or in a non - CBD database, you do it in the PDB >

    Hi Friedhold,

I think the problem is that you connect to the database container rather than to the snap-in data base. You must connect the name of service associated with this snap-in db. Change connection string to test/test@pdborcl

that should be found in your tnsnames file. Or you can use a syntax ezconnect.

    sqlplus test/test@//localhost:1521/pdborcl (or something similar)

I posted a similar example on my blog that you can follow from beginning to end that can help explain.

  • How to make a program available to all users if the program was installed for a user

Basically, the problem is that I created another user account, but only a few random apps appear on it and I was REALLY looking FORWARD to having to reinstall some programs + 50 so my computer can function normally on my secondary account.  I am able to find a lot of programs installed by snooping around in Explorer and have been able to run some by creating shortcuts, but many of them (Spybot, Itunes, Google Chrome, THE LIST GOES ON!) nothing do when the .exe is open and are unusable (on this account).
Also, I want to say there is no page support for Windows 7 that cover this topic (that I could find by using the provided search engine), and the more those (as for windows 2000) do not apply because they tell you to move files Windows has more, but it is a known problem and Microsoft should incorporate a simple way to add or remove accounts without uninstall/install programs just to be able to check a box... _ Perhaps there could even be an option for this in a very obvious place, as installed programs list of the filth or user account settings.

Any application that is properly designed to work on Windows 7
either would give the person making the installation option to
make the application available to all users, or do it automatically.
by default. It is entirely the responsibility of an application
programmers and out of Microsoft's control. Thus, the easiest way, of
of course, is to use an application that is designed for a multi-user operating system.
But, unfortunately, this is not always an option, where companies must rely on
    existing proprietary applications.

If you install the legacy application places its shortcuts
only in the start of the person performing the installation, all the
You may need to do is to move these Start Menu entries to the same
    location in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program
folder and/or the C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop folder.

In addition, such an incompatible application can offer additional
    "challenges:

You may experience problems if the software has been designed to
Win9x / Me, or if it was intended for Windows NT / 2 K/XP, Vista/Win7, but was
poorly designed. Quite simply, the application 'knows' how
manage individual user with different security permissions profiles
    e going to
'banned' sections of the Windows registry or Windows protected
    system folders.

For example, the saved data is often stored in a subfolder under the
folder of the application in C:\Program Files - a place where it doesn't
the inexperienced user or limited should never have write permissions.

It may even be that the software requires 'write' access to the parties
the registry or the files/folders to systems protected are not normally
accessible to regular users. (He * didn't * happen if the application is)
correctly written.) If this does not prove that that is the case, however, you
often left with three options: either grant the required users
privileges of senior access (either as users with power or local
Administrators), explicitly grant privileges for normal users
the relevant records and/or parts or the registry or replace the
request by another who has been properly designed especially for
    WinNT / 2 K/XP/Vista/Win7.

Some programs do not work if you connect limited account
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB; EN-US; q307091

In addition, here are some tips suggested, in response to a
another post, MS - MVP Kent W. England:

"If your game or your application works with administrator accounts, but not with."
limited accounts, you can set it to allow limited users to access to the
folder Program files with 'change' ability rather than 'read' that
    is the default value.

    C:\>Cacls "Program Files\appfolder" /e /t /p user: c

where "appfolder" is the folder where the application is installed.

If you want to undo these changes, then run

    C:\>Cacls "Program Files\appfolder" /e /t /p user: r

NOTE: On Win7 Icacls.exe gives more control.

If you still have a problem with the delivery of the program or save the settings
on limited accounts, you may need to change the permissions in the registry
keys. Run regedit.exe and go to HKLM\Software\vendor\app, where
the key of the Publisher of the software used to your own
program. Change the permissions on this key to allow users full control. »

  • Windows 7 - allowing a user to domain become a local user

I am upgrading a computer Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro. We have a domain on a Windows Server 2008 Std 64 bit. The user already exists on the server and so we should be able to connect to the domain of the workstation, after that it was introduced on the server after the upgrade. I can do it then a member of the group for the local computer. If the server is down, then I want the user to be able to connect to the workstation as a local user and have access to their email that is stored locally in Outlook. Can we see problems with this and are their any special measures I need to do?

If the network is down, you can always connect to a client if the connection to the updated domain caching is enabled for Group Policy. When you are connected with information in cache, Windows uses the most recent information cache for your account and connects you with a message that Windows cannot connect to a domain server to validate your connection settings. You have been connected with the previously cached information.
