replaceable hard drive for solid state drive

I want to put a SSD drive 500 GB in a late 2008 Mac Book Pro. What is the best Portfolio for this change?

If you have no background information with that I suggest you that start with the information of upgrade on the website of macsales.com.  You don't have to buy from them, but what you want to do, it will take a greater familiarity with the specification.

"Best" is too vague. Better to do what? How many rooms do you need? What version of operating system work you?  How much can you afford?  I use a late 2008 MacBook and decided for the best SSD for me was quite an SSD.

Hello almac7, it seems that your system must be able to withstand a SSD hard drive. You may need an adapter to install the player in a Bay 3.5 inches.

Given that the SSD is a new parent and the ever-evolving technology, it would be difficult to recommend one disc rather than another.

They all seem to have their positive and negative characteristics.

You also need Windows 7 as operating system, with the support of the Trim function now on most of the SSDS.

Here is a link for the specifications of your system. It shows that there are six sata (ports) for readers. It also shows that the system was delivered with two 500 GB hard drives. These discs can be in a Raid0 configuration. You will need to reconnect these drives to other ports, and then connect the SSD to port0.

I have search for comparisons of different brands and models and determine what brand and model, and price range would be tailored to your needs.

  • T530, not replaceable hard drive (no screws!)

I just got a Thinkpad T530, and the first thing I wanted to do is placed in an old hard drive. It is usually * incredible * easy to do on any computer, and I expected to be especially true in a lenovo.

It seems that my computer missing a screw, or the user's guide is incorrect. Incidentally, very frustrating:

The user guide T530 says that you remove the screws located here:

But on my computer, it has no screws here! I tried to remove all the screws in the vicinity and the plate did not move, and it's obviously anchored at this time:

Lenovo sent me the wrong T530 by mistake while I have another that I am about to return, and that there is no a screw here either. When you lift up on the keyboard at the top, it is obvious that the HD is located in this area (but it is not accessible from the top)

I've hunted all around the internet and I see someone complaining about this, but I have 2 computers with the same thing. Is it a defect? Am totally missed something? It's been 2 months to try to move things with lenovo and it is super annoying. I would appreciate any advice on how to talk about HD on this.

  • Wanting to re use Windows 7 on new hard drive

I have a 1 TB harddrive with the operating system on it and some data. I won a new SSD and install it as my boot drive. My question is can I re-use the software from the 1 to on the new os and then to wipe the partition on the 1 TB. I have the original dvd for installation with the product key, as I do annual wipes of my drive to clean the disc. Thanks in advance.

Yes, as long as you have purchased a retail version of Windows 7, there should not be a problem. OEM version should also work as you use the product key on the label. You may need to activate by phone if you use that key to activate too many times, so I've included this information also.

  • Which hard drive Solid State for Satellite Pro L670?

I have a Satellite Pro L670, I need to configure for presentation and having to re - load operating system anyway.

Rather than write the existing drive too much, I thought that it would be best to get a second to adapt instead.
Replace the current (obsolete) rotation drive with a solid state, it seems to me the best way to go.
Has anyone equipped with a hard drive to a Satellite Pro?

For budget reasons, I plan to go for a capacity of 120 GB that will be enough.

However, I've yet to discover at Toshiba they could recommend. Anyone else gone this route?

    Hello

Theoretically, any SATA SSD drive should be compatible because the laptop supports a SATA controller.
But in some cases, it might be possible that an SSD would not be treated properly. In such cases, SDD drive manufacturers provide different firmware updates

So before buying an SSD drive check the support pages of the manufacturers of SSDS for more details would perhaps have a firmware update

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of using iCloud drive (or other Cloud services) compared with iTunes game against external hard drive, Solid State etc. to store my songs iTunes, playlists, ratings etc?

First question: what are the advantages and disadvantages of using iCloud drive (or other Cloud services) compared with iTunes Match against Solid State external hard drive etc to store my songs iTunes, playlists, ratings etc?

Please let me know what are the alternatives for storage of my songs, playlists, song etc. other than iTunes game ratings ($ 24.99 / year)?  Is there a way to store all my songs with my song ratings, playlists, etc. with a CD song quality? Most of my (currently 130 GB) songs on my computer are CD quality that I prefer to keep as well as my notes of each song (i.e. 5 * vs. 4 * etc.), playlists, groups (music, classical, popular, country etc.).  What are the advantages and disadvantages to store my iTunes songs while CD quality with my personal notes, reading lists, groupings in the cloud?  ICloud of Apple Drive ($ 2.99 per month or $36 / year for 200 GB) would be the best way to automatically update and maintain my rankings iTunes personal including the future editions of the song etc or using Amazon, IBM, Microsoft etc cloud or an external hard drive SSD would work as well and maybe cheaper?  I currently have my iTunes on a PC of 2007 with vista (I use a 1 8T Western Digital external upward by car for my personal info all over HP, songs, photos etc. which is currently close to 170 GB) but also have an Apple i-phone 6 & I Air cushion.  Although I did not need to have all of my music with all their sides, etc. available on all of my devices at all times as iTunes game, I still would have easy access to information on both my PC and my iPhone or iPad?  Thank you.

    In my opinion?

I back up my data to an external drive for several reasons.  The first is my data - if I put on the cloud, someone else has control over it, they can see what I have and change the preferences to what they see of marketing.

Almost as important as that - if I had to rely on the cloud whenever I wanted to update my playlists on my phone, I need a better internet connection I have now (working at sea).  To get the best out of the cloud, you need a solid link to home, work or mobile.

As a spin-off - I hate the fact that Apple take away a feature in their software updates and then allow an app to be sold in their store to replace this feature - or worse still, some features that were available before the updates are now "cloud only."  And Yes - you have to pay for the cloud.  I like most of the people do not appreciate the 'accomplished fact. "

From the back of the external hard drive ASI downside, is that to be safe, you need to store outside in a separate computer place.  If keep you them together, if one is lost, probably, they are both.  That is to say for me a full backup before you travel, then a new upward as soon as I go home.  Downside is how much data may be lost between the two back ups if I needed to restore.  For me, its worth the risk.  If I was away and say had bought a ton of new music and couldn't go home anytime soon, I can always head to the store and buy a new external drive, they are massively expensive.  Even if my computer has to go for repair and my remote is to halfway around the world - I want to buy a new one.

Now, some will say that once you buy a new external, you spend more than you would on a cloud subscription.  It's true, but in the 6 years following the purchase of Mac that I've only had to buy a new external once - so with a little luck and planning - it works.

I left took well - I am not a subscriber of cloud, nor do I want to be.

  • 775th HP Pavilion desktop computer: what Solid State hard drive to replace Maxtor 6Y080L0

I have a computer HP Pavilion #D218W 775th very good, and it works a bit slow, but is a good computer.   Someone tell me Forum Windows 7 sent the Bye, bye land.  However, I think I'll try something first, and which are an upgrade of a disk hard solid state so I can install Windows 7 64-bit and later install Windows 10 update.

Windows 7 upgrade Advisior gives me the ok to proceed with the transfer.  But, I think I need to upgrade the hard drive and a solid state, it will do the trick.

So the information I need, what is disk hard solid state, I need to replace the Maxtor & 6Y080L0 (81.96 GB drive)

Rev [edited moderator Serial Number] s/n YAR41VWO.

Thank you very much for the help.

    Unfortunately, it won't work.

Your desktop PC old venerable uses don't suport not the SATA interface and IDE hard disks. He certainly gave you several (10) years of great service.

    SSDS use the SATA interface.

There is none of the hard drives SSD IDE on the market.

This is why it was suggested at the forum that you referenced to turn off the old office in the pasture.

Unfortunately, yours is one of the models where you have to take the laptop almost all path that starts to get hard disk. Do so would void the warranty. I'm a big advocate of the SSD, but in your case, the difficulties and probable spending cuts against the fact.

If you decide to dive forward, let know us and we can help you find an SSD. This is going far from the easy part.

  • Firebird 802 - upgrade hard drives - Solid State / hybrid anyone?

I'm upgrading hard drives on my Firebird 802 (the part the WEAKEST of my Firebird and the SMALLEST score on Windows Index). I replaced the drive secondary with a Seagate 500 GB SATA drive at 7200 RPM (ST950042 4AS) and REALLY improved performance (I have my file on the secondary drive).

It's now time to upgrade the MAIN disk. I'm looking at a "Hybrid" car A Seagate ST95005620AS Momentus XT 500 GB Solid State Hybrid Drive - 500 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA 3 Gb/s.

Has anyone tried upgrading the main drive of a hybrid? For a solid Sate drive?

    Thank you

    Enzo

Well WELL, @ 10:39 PM PST after FOUR and a HALF and TWO attempts of the hybrid drive WORKS as my main drive on my Firebird 802!

Using the data transfer software CMS Bounceback ($14.99 per download) the program was missing several files that were essential for the computer to boot. Once I checked the transfer journal and moved the files myself IT BOOTS!

THUS, in a few weeks, I'll post the kind of increases in speed that I experience. First comment, my drives are running @ 98 degrees F. It's HOT, so I'll have to come back a fan for the hard disk enclosure, in fact, you can put at the front of the box and jump through this background grid. Going to put in place tomorrow. Now I'm BEAT!

Thus, it CAN BE DONE on your Firebird! Solution, HERE!

    Thank you!

  • Replacement Solid State Hard Drive not recognized at initial startup

I recently bought a Dell 30GB HDD solid state replacement for go in a Latitude D620. I was able to load windows from the recovery CD and drivers put on it, but started to see some issues with the startup. If the machine is off and that you try to make an initial power on the system does not see the HARD drive. If you press f1 to try anything again. If you put off and power on nothing. If reset you it using ctrl-alt-del it see the car and starts successfully. It seems as if the reader must completely lights until the system tries to access it, but that's just a guess. Any ideas as to what is the real problem or how to fix?

My computer with two hard drives and 2 starting systems has the car crash in the solid state. When I got the new drive and tried to restore from time capsule, I lost some data. How can I see what backups are on the time capsule? My laptop is also saved to the time capsule. Everything is in 'Data' when I look through the Airport utility. I think that the information that I've lost are still there since I was a Capsule 3 to.

Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?

Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.
