Replaced fan does not start

Hi, I have a T60p in which I just replaced the heatsync/fan because it was noisy.  After reassembling the laptop, when I press the power button, the fan runs for 3 seconds and turn on the lights indicating the function of the hard disk and so on. Then, after 3 seconds the fan stops turning and the only light that stays on is one that looks like a Z with a circle around it - nothing is never displayed on the screen.  I have to hold the power button to make the Z light turn off and when I do I switched the drive hard as if he is to stop.

I put the original fan/heatsync back in to see if the new fan has caused the problem, but the same thing happens.

I used the thermal paste and followed all the instructions, several times.  I worked as a computer tech for many years and have replaced the heatsync/fan on many laptops without problem.  This is the first time I've ever had a problem like this.  Any help is appreciated!  Thank you

TuuS,

Thanks for the quick response!

I finally got the computer to boot by removing the upper part of the stick of RAM.  The computer seems to only start when 1 stick of RAM is installed in the lower housing.  The two RAM sticks work in the slot in the bottom is not the RAM itself, but the slot.  No idea why that might be?  Of course, the next question is, is it possible to fix this?

Thanks again!

  • Satellite L505 - 10 M - fan does not start

    I have a problem with my Satellite L505 - 10 M.

Suddenly the fan does not start over and because of this, the laptop get quickly overheated and stops. I installed Windows 7 top me, quite some time ago, and this time it was 2 weeks ago while it just happened this evening. I have not installed anything new and nor I did something special with him, he just does not start fan more.

I checked this forum, cannot find anything either, searched and could not find any problems with Linux and the fan, but not Windows (it does not start at the start of the bios either).

If anyone has a thought, a similar experience or a solution, it would be really useful

    Greetings,

    Hey Buddy,

You have installed Windows 7 Microsoft disc or Toshiba Recovery disk?

Well, if the fan doesn't start anymore, you can t a lot and I think that the fan needs to be replaced.
What you can do is load default settings in the BIOS (press F9 key in the configuration of the BIOS) and save settings. Also clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air, maybe the fan will be blocked by the dust.

If he doesn t it work s time to contact a technician for laptop. If your laptop is under warranty, the repair will be free. :)

  • Satellite L100 - cooling fan does not start up more

    Hello

On my L100 laptop cooling fan doesn't seem to work! It does not start up more and after awhile the laptop shuts down as it is too hot. What can we do?

    See you soon
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

The fan lights normally the POST process before loading the BIOS. Your laptop will continue to boot normally, I presume that your fan control electronics is still viable, otherwise the MESSAGE would fail. So, it seems likely that the problem is with the fan itself. I suggest you check that the fan will run in fact and it missed upward (try to blow strongly in grids).

If you laptop is still under warranty, then you must contact an ASP to get the fan replaced.

    Kind regards

During the repair the motherboard has been replaced, since then, the fan does not seem to start then I suffered a little stop withdrawals on overheating. Please say if there is a way to configure the fan manually or... all I have to do.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Satellite M70 - cooling fan does not start

    Hello.

I recently got a little work Satellite M70 - CL1 to a friend. Everything works, but the cooling system is malfunctioning. Fan made ramp-up at the start, but then it does nothing. I tried the XP system installed inside, and ubuntu 10.10 does not seem that the fan is running. My friend said the fan strikes, but at the moment he does, too little too late and the system freezes due to overheating. He managed to stay alive for 20 minutes on his own cooling power.

Any suggestions on what's wrong? Maybe it's the temperature probe that is defective?

    Hey,.

Of course, it's not always easy to tell what the exact reason is on this virtual path but probably dust blocks the cooling fans and so it may start t and the laptop is overheating.

Clean the fan and the heat sink is not very complicated, because you can use the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. Everything is described in this very useful Toshiba article on cleaning of your laptop:

I have a problem: when turning on the pc, the fan speed is still 90%, whatever the pc, and if the computer goes into sleep mode the fan stops and does not restart and I got the message: 'problem with the cooling system, turn to pc immediately '.

I had this problem also when I got the 2.2 bios, when I upgraded to 2.40 for a few weeks, everything was normal and now the problem again.

    You set the default BIOS?
Make sure in the BIOS, press F9 and then save the changes by pressing F10.

  • Satellite A135-S2386 - fan does not start

    Hi all

I bought a Toshiba Satellite since 2006 in the United States. It worked perfectly.
Now, when I start start fan but after 10 minutes, freeze it and the fan remained without starting.

Please can it be a UO motherboard problem that the problem is at the level of the fan?
    Pleasae help me

    Hello!

    The entire notebook freezes?
Whether the reason is why the fan doesn't work. The laptop is overheating.

Maybe dust blocking the fan. If you need to clean the laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans. I always use the jet of compressed air to clean my laptop and it works. :)
    Check this box!

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200 - fan does not start

Since two days ago, my fan has stopped working and no longer starts to run for the BIOS is not turning at all.
I stopped using the laptop to avoid damaging the it. Is their a solution to this problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

According to me, Feliks is right and you have to go to an authorized service provider. If start fan doesn t that the laptop will become extremely hot I think and stop by the latter. Who protects the material overheating due.

If you n t know where is ASP nearest I can recommend this page useful:

  • A60 Pro satellite fan does not

    Hi all

I have a problem with my sons laptop. Intermittently, the fan does not start and after a while, the computer overheats and stops.

The problem is not the fan itself, it runs for a few seconds when always first turned, but then sometimes does not start again.

When this happens, the only way I can get the fan works again is to remove the battery (with no power applied area) and leave the laptop for a little while, then re - turn on the power (battery or sector, it's okay)

Only, I arrived at this "difficulty" by accident after many hours of troubleshooting, upgrade the BIOS, cd restore and apply all other updates from the support site (which did nothing).
When 'fixed' portable tracks without penalty - until the next time, he decides to "free" itself!
The closest I can find as to the cause of this is that it seems to happen when the battery has been recently fully charged (i.e. charged during the night), but it is by no means certain that the fault will be re appear.

As part of my diagnostic tests, I installed a utility material, which shows that, in default conditions, the CPU temperature is always reported as 18 centigrade monitoring. It never varies.
When you are working correctly (the fan) the CPU temperature is shown as variant.

My best guess is that is some sort of glitch in the system management bus and eliminating completely any kind of power it resets somehow.

If anyone has any suggestions on how (if?) I can cure this permanently, I would be very grateful.

Have scoured the forums for references, I've not found anything about this problem.

    Thank you
    Steve

    Hello

I agree with you when you say that it is a very special problem. Because of this, I really put t think you will be able to find a quick fix to this problem. Fan behavior is really strange, but watch the CPU temperature is also unrealistic and it is about 60 C and cannot be 18 C as shown.

The fact is that fan activity depends on the temperature of the system and sensors to measure the temperature. Here, we can speculate on all, but believe me, the device must be checked properly. I'm 100% sure it's hardware related issue and installation or recovery will probably not solve the problem.

As you can see preinstalled monitor tool completely unrealistic show its temperature and it has something completely mixed up.

I recommend you contact the partner of service allowed in your country and let check the device and the motherboard. They have designed special tools and I don't know that they can give you an exact explanation what the problem is.

  • Satellite M30-604 freezes and the fan does not work after replacing

Satellite SM30-604. Laptop has left the mat from one day to the next and overheated! Fan won't spin and laptop start only occasionally. Thinking that the fan was fault I replaced the fan but even this new fan doesn't spin. The heat sink is totally clean - dust free inside the fins at all. The laptop is only 2 years.

Cooling using forced (by sticking a nozzle of aspiration to the output of the cooling fan!) the laptop starts sometimes as normal until the desktop screen with all of the usual icons and no error message. But then, it does not further - the freezing of the screen, keyboard and mouse.

Most of the time it does not start at all. When it does not start, the blue LED lights up but there is no hard disk activity or LCD at all - even the wifi LED lights even.

Really grateful if someone knows what's going on. You are not sure if it is the main processor that is defective?

    Thanks in advance.

    Charlie

    Hello, Charlie

As you know on this path is not easy to give an accurate diagnosis, but according to your assignment, I guess there is a complex problem and unit must be properly verified. I also think that there must be a problem with the electronics.

It is really possible that the motherboard needs to be replaced but, as I already said, it is not possible to say something specific about your problem. Try contacting Asp and you will see what they say.

    Good bye

  • HP Compaq DC7800 does not start properly (fan is going crazy)

Yesterday I wanted to add a TV tuner card to my DC7800, but after that, I saw that the power of the tuner (no PCI) card had disappeared. I decided to shut down the computer and run it. I would work out the power cable later.

Since then, the computer does not start really. Looks like it starts and the fan starts to turn. After some time, the fan goes completely wild! There is no beeps of the main card. So, it seems that BIOS does not either.

    Please help me!

My apologies for not responding earlier!

I have fixed the problem. I removed the firewire card and then started the pc. After that I insterted the card firewire again and both times the computer still worked.

Probably what happened is this: I had the tunercard connected to the firewire card, but no power supply again. Most likely the tunercard was draining the energy of the firewire card and this way the power supply of the computer has become a sort of State course...

code 511 undetected fan and the fan does not turn or did not run where do replacement or this question solfware please help

[Moved from the community centre of Participation]

Fan errors are usually hardware problems. There is a fan in the case including detector does not detect that it is available or spinning. This could be a problem with the real fan or the fan sensor.

Does this have to do with? Are you talking about an error that is displayed by a Windows machine? If so, what version of Windows? When the error take? At boot time? Before or after that Windows allows you to open a session? When you provide no details, it is almost impossible for anyone to help.
