Replacement of the HDD - Vaio VPCYB15AG

Hello

I'm looking for a new HARD drive for my Sony Vaio Y Series computer laptop VPCYB15AG. The existing a Toshiba MK3259GSXP is about to give up. It was installed by the Sony Service centre somewhere mid 2012 and now everything is out of warranty. According to his page on the Web from Toshiba site, this seems to be Advanced Format (AF) HARD drive, but no AF logo appears on its thumbnail.

I'm usually well compatibility issues with Win 7 OS without SP1 and HARD AF drive. This laptop has Win7 Starter. I have her 2 recovery DVDs. This is based on the Chipset CPU & AMD Fusion AMD E350.

It will be good enough to get another HDD AF (according to my understanding that existing mk3259gsxp is also good AF) or he'll always be a sure bet to get the legacy 512 byte/sector format.

Would be nice to get more clarity / advice on that.

Thanks & best regards.

MMP

The recovery disk you created should work in normal operation with the drive of 512 format. It will also restore the original and all Windows software operating system that came from the factory setting.

    Hello

The hard drive in my beloved Portege R500 is dead.

The model is a Toshiba MK1237GSX and am looking for a compatible hard drive to replace it with conclusion that this exact model turns out to be difficult. You can also and my first choice would be to replace the HDD with a ssd drive - is this possible and any recommendation on model?

    Any help is very appreciated

  • Replacement of the HDD on the Satellite A60

I have an old Toshiba Satellite A60. The old 30 GB Toshiba HDD (MK3025GAS) died. I bought a 60 GB Toshiba HDD (MK602GAX) as a replacement.

My problem is that I can't get the bios to see the new drive and start with it. "For the old disk bios dead says under ' built in HDD = Primary IDE (1F0H/IRQ14). With the new HARD drive it says "built on the disk HARD = No. Drive'."

Using a cd, I installed Ubuntu on the new HARD drive. The ubuntu installation cd sees the new HARD drive and allows me to format it and install Ubuntu. When the installation is complete, and I try to start Ubuntu, nothing happens, and the menu of the Bios still displays "built on the disk HARD = No. Drive'."

If I run Ubuntu from a cd I can 'explorer' 60 GB HARD drive and see all the installed files of Ubuntu. I can't boot the PC from the HARD disk or just to get the BIOS to recognize his presence.

I'm a bit confused and don't know what to do. Ideas anyone?

For me, this looks like a compatibility issue. Unfortunately there is no public document where we can find info on all compatible disks.
To be honest I m really wondering why the new HARD drive is not recognized correctly. Problem, is that you can not force laptop recognize each RAM or HARD drive.

    What to do now?
I put t think some update of the BIOS will help so I m afraid you must get a new or another HDD and test if it works or not.
I presume that this 60 GB HARD disk was not new, right?

  • Replacement of the HDD in Portege R400-106

    Hello
I have a Portege R400-106, which no longer has a hard drive - so can not simply go down the number one :-(
I'm working on which drive hard I can put in it,
I see the hard drive in the laptop space has pins IDE. It is possible that it is type PATA, but my research so far suggests that when readers say they are IDE, I should be OK (please tell me if I have this wrong!)
I think that it is a 2.5 drive "I'm looking for and the original drive would have been 80 GB, which is what I think I need.
    I think I blame a MK8025GAS?

    I found one at: http://www.memory4less.com/ConfItems.aspx?modelid=80028876
but the cost is pretty prohibative as I live in the United Kingdom and the expedition of charges.

I can't find anywhere who can tell me which drive is suitable
Cheers in advance for any ideas :-)

    Hello

I found information that original HDD is 1.8-inch PATA HDD with a capacity of 80 GB and you can use MK8007GAH from TOSHIBA.

  • Replacement of the HDD RAID5 2950

    Hello

We have a disk failure in a RAID 5 system in PowerEdge 2950 with card RAID Perc 6i. Drive HARD original is WD SATA 7200 rpm 1 TB.

Given that Dell sells more the original model of HARD drive, the commercial attaché Dell sold a compatible HARD drive, probably not of WD. Although it will rebuild the RAID, she said, I still want to double check here. Can we use this compatible HARD drive to rebuild the RAID without data loss? Dell ensures that replace drive HARD has the same number of cylinders, sectors, etc.? Or is it not important?

We have simply to stop the server, swap on the defective HARD drive, turn it on and configure BIOS to rebuild the RAID5?

Thank you very much for the review of my question!

    -Andrew

Dell uses - and you - will send a "certified" for a replacement drive.  "Certified" made sure readers, regardless of the make and model, will work well with other certified drives and controllers from Dell.

NEVER stop a server to replace a hot drive... If it's hot-swap, hot swap.  If the replacement does not rebuild automatically, then you can assign it as a hot spare.  This can be done in the operating system using the OpenManage software.

  • Replacement of the hard disk for Equium A60-155

I need to replace the hard drive in my equium A60-155. I need to know what is compatible with this model and if the brand of the drive is important in compatibility. For example should be a drive hard toshiba or is it possible to others.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

You n t need to install a HDD in particular of Toshiba. You can also use disk of another company.

It is important that you use a HARD drive with support for hardware specifications.

I found these useful discussions on the replacement of the HDD on the Satellite and Equium A60:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=23770&MessageID=87207
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=22183&MessageID=81930

Satellite A60 is very similar to the A60 Equium and so the two series use the same hard disks

  • How to replace the HDD on Satellite 1130?

How to replace the hard drive in this notebook?

    Hello

If I remember well HDD is under the optical media drive. Optical media drive is fixed with a screw that you see above the player. Remove the screw and remove the drive from the Bay.

HARD drive is fixed, I think, 4 screws (probably black). When the screws are removed you can use two fingers to remove the HDD from the connector plug. I hope you now know how to put the new HARD drive.

  • E5-432: replace the HDD with SDS

I of the E5 Aspire-432, that come stock with a 500 GB HDD, I would like to exchange for a SDS in the future. I found not yet no info via Google or this forum.

Anyone has any info on this? Is there an available maintenance manual detailing how to replace the HARD drive in the e5-432?

Would be-I just need to clone the HDD to the SDS, the Exchange and start?

    Thanks for any info

UPDATE: I just did the swap HDD/SDD in the Aspire E5-432. It is very easy to do.

It starts now less than 15 seconds. Much snappier.

    Prepare the SDS:

1 installation Drive Clone or as software

2 connect the SDS, via USB and to clone the HDD to SDS - cloning took about 1 1/2 hours with a USB2 cable

Note: leaving the size of the partition that DriveClone wouldn not (not enough message space), I reduced the main partition of about 400 MB and everything went well

    Remove the HARD drive:

    1. power off the laptop, remove all the screws from the bottom and crack open

    2. a screw holds the HARD drive in case tray, remove

    3. a screw holds the USB/audio jack PCB, remove it

    4. on the audio jack USB PCB, lift the lever to release for USB/audio cable

    5. on the motherboard, raise the white lever for USB/audio cable that is stuck on the plateau of HARD drive

    6. remove the taking USB/audio PCB and right speaker held in place with eyelets pink silicone

    7. slide the HARD drive to the right tray, can he get out of it

    8. remove the 2 screws from the HARD drive tray

9 FLEX tray by pressing the top middle holding the sides, push the HARD drive from the open side. Trying to force the HARD drive does not work out with tools

Do the reverse steps to put SDS in, reboot, enjoy!

    Worth it!

  • Satellite U940-100 - replace the HDD SSD

    Hello

I want to change my Sat U940-100 by a SSD HARD drive.
I can make a perfect copy but when I change the HDD SSD won't.
Can someone explain me what I have to do?

I think it has to do with het SSD of 32 GB, which is already inside?
What I have to change something in the BIOS?

    Thanks in advance

    Dag

What do you mean it won't? What did you do exactly?

In my opinion after Exchange of HDD with SSD, you must install the original recovery image and start using your laptop with the 'settings '.

  • Replace the HDD on NSLU2

OK, so it finally arrived to the point that I need to upgrade the HDD on my NSLU2. I am currently using a 250 GB as DISK1, and let use the DISK2 GB 320 for backups to DISK1. My questions are...

    (1) if I swap to be the new DISK1 DISK2 my data (stocks, config, etc.) will be still intact?

    If not, then...

    (2) how can I migrate to a new disk without data loss?

    and finally...

    (3) don't like just your SLUG? Mine worked for three years or more with only a few minor (although scary) hiccups.

OK, I had took charge. I moved to the port of disk1 disk2, everything is good to go, so now I can connect the new drive in port disk2 and should be good to go, just I have to configure the backup again routine since it automagically diappears when it is initialized with only one connected disk.

  • Computer laptop need to change the HDD in the SDS?

Have 3 questions related to the Toshiba SSD!

ATA, http://www.toshiba.com/taec/adinfo/ssdfacts/ so 1.8 and 2.5, I look at who is the same dimenssions and right?

    2. I have this model Toshiba R200-S2031, is it possible to change drive HARD 80-SSD 256 1.8 inches? I understand that my model has 1.8 IDE I can't take 2.5? But replace IDE ATA is possible that they are the same size?

    3. If I R500 with 64 SSD drive, can I replace it it with greater SDS and the same size of thumb? Let's say I have 2.5 64 GB SSD ich so I could replace it with 500 GB SSD?

    tnaks for answers.
and Toshiba - thanks to make small laptops, really enjoy.
you want to update faster, but I LIKE THEM!
    Thanks Toshiba!

    Husbands

    (1) as a general rule, all laptops can be upgraded to an SSD. If the connector on the SSD is the same as the original hard drive connector, it should work.

    (2) I believe there are 1.8 "PATA SSD available, google is your friend.

    (3) I think the R500 is using a connector ZIFF customized for the SSD drive, then you will not be able to install a standard SATA or PATA 2.5 "SSD Drive. I don't know if you can buy SSDS with the connector ZIFF, once again, google can help you.

  • How to remove the HDD on my Satellite A60 password?

    Hello

I have a problem with my hard drive on my Satellite A60. I want to restore my computer with the DVD-rom, but my HARD drive is not detected in the BIOS. I have test the HDD, utilities and it says that the HARD drive is locked with a password?

What is this password? I have not active this password and I don t know how to release it.
Can you help me? I have restored the default setting in the BIOS, without success. Help me!!!

(I'm sorry for my bad English)

You can t remove a HARD drive password. No one can do that.

I put t understand why this happened, but check the HARD drive in a laptop or in an external enclosure.

Maybe the drive is defective and must be replaced.

  • PC HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT: Replacement of the SSD HARD drive and Recovery Options

I have a PC HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT I went recently to drive HARD original for one SSD of 850 Evo from Samsung using Samsungs cloning/copying software. Everything went well and the PC is in use today. I do not see the partition D: Recovery on this machine more well, so I think this has not copied or was lost. I still have the disk that was replaced.

I was wondering if there is a way to replace HARD drive like this with an SSD and everything by keeping the system recovery feature that was on the HARD disk, and if a set of system recovery disks of before installing SSD would continue to operate, or if I need to create new ones, and if I CAN create new ones.

    rgoodrich

I did what you want to do (for example, to replace a disk with a DDI) and was able to retain the function of HP recovery - but it's because of two important facts.

First of all, I used a DDI with the same capacity as the original HARD disk.  This is important because if you use a smaller SDS, the HP recovery feature will no more work as a reset begins with reformatting the drive and recreate the original scores - which will fail if the disc is too small.

Second, I use Macrium Reflect product to 'clone' the HDD to the DDI, which means, he made an exact copy of the partitions on disk on the SDS.  So, when I swapped drives, the PC restarted without any problem.

People have posted here on the use of the software from Samsung, and they seem to have problems restarting after use and (apparently) with successful copy from disk HARD original in the new SDS.
