Replication groups two Equallogic

Hello

I have two groups equallogic each connected to a separate switch dell, storage and switches from dell that they communicate with each other at all.

is it possible to configure replication between two of them on IP management? or what is the best practice in this case?

Hello Dan,.

No sorry.  Replication can go on the iSCSI network.  The sending group creates and session iSCSI on the site of DR to transfer the data.   You will need to create a route between groups in order to use the EQL replication.

Kind regards

  • Reconfigured HP Data Replication Group does not present as a group of SRM data store

    Hello

I configured in two data centers with an EVA4000 on the source site and an EVA4400 on the destination site, countered with Continuous Access EVA of SRM.

I had replicated two EVA virtual disks (and ESX data warehouses) on the EVA4000 Source called EXCHANGE01 and EXCHANGE02 that have been configured in separate groups, data replication (named EXCHANGE01-GROUP and EXCHANGE02 GROUP) of the HP Command View EVA. These have been picked up properly by SRM as replicated data stores.

So I decided that it would be preferable to not not two data stores more as a single unit and therefore re-configured continued access by removing the virtual disk EXCHANGE02 of its data replication group and adding as a member of a GROUP named EXCHANGE01. After that, the GROUP named EXCHANGE01 is fail-over for Command View EVA unit and contains EXCHANGE01 to virtual disks and EXCHANGE02. The problem is that when I use the "Rescan replicated storage" option in SRM, you can still see the two Datastores EXCHANGE01 and EXCHANGE02. As it is, I need to create two groups, one by the data store, while in reality a continuous access switch the two as a single unit. The MRS server has been restarted, the berries reread several times, and in fact the EVA4000 has been restarted.

Two things, I guess. Am I right in thinking that SRM should report to the Group of data replication HP (despite the fact that he refers to it as a\ group data store)? If I am, is there a way I can fix it (preference to short to remove all the replication groups in Command View EVA, a new analysis in the MRS and re - duplicate records?

I have attached two screenshots - one to SRM showing the list of groups of data store after a new analysis and the other from Command View EVA, showing the Group of data recovery

    Hi Bob.

The term SRM data store group is intentionally generic because MRS. support many different providers, and all could use a term "Replication group" as EVA does. If MRS. may correspond to a data store that was created on a LUN that the one being replicated is returned by the adapter, it considers that the store of data as being replicated. It's the storage provider for code adapter for return information LUN appropriate to their table - if you look at the SRM newspapers you will see EVA adapter returns each LUN replicated individually with no information about the relationship of Group of replication at all, so it would be impossible for SRM to have knowledge of this relationship as well.

Although the LUN in a replication failover as one group power group, they can be taken individually for use during the test of SRM, so maybe it's one of the reasons why HP choice to list each ONE separately.

In all cases, you have several alternatives: one is to keep your existing environment and configure two groups of protection; on the side of recovery, you can set up a restoration plan unique to switch both of these groups; In addition, you may have configured 2 other recovery plans, one for each protection group, which would be only used for the test, and which would test each LUN and virtual machines on it individually - this could reduce the load on the DR ESX servers during the test rather than to test simultaneously. Of course, you can create a single LUN as well and that of course would make the theoretical discussion - it could be better if your virtual machines must be tested together because the application dependencies.

You might consider following up with HP if you want more insight as to the relationship of EVA "Replication groups" viz SRM, which is why they chose to not to expose information to the replication group.

  • My group IP Equallogic rattling of unknown Internet hosts

    Hello

I have an Equallogic group composed of former members of PS6000 and also running firmware 5.02 (I know it's old).  Our network security team saw that the IP of the Equallogic group sends constant pings to certain IP addresses.  Some of these IP addresses are no. DHCP Server related (169.254.1.151 169.254.1.19, etc.), but also we are seeing pings being sent to internet two IPS, 20.20.20.2 and 20.20.20.3.  These pings are apparently constant, and we can not find in the logs in the management console, why they produce.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

    Kind regards

    Kevin

    Hello

I suspect that you have a Server Windows, with HIT / me installed.  But the MPIO configuration wizard has not been run to exclude all non-iSCSI subnets.  If the hosts are trying to log on by using all available subnets.  To ensure than a back road, the table first ping this IP address.  In case of failure it will not attempt a connection.

Then once you run the Remote Setup Wizard, you will see the option of MPIO.  Make sure only the iSCSI subnet is included and this should solve your problem.

Re: Firrmware.  Very old firmware.  If you run VMware ESXi, you are also at risk of corruption of VMFS metadata.  The minimum EQL firmware to address this problem is 6.0.7.  There are also a lot of improvements to the management of disk errors, etc...   5.0.2 is released Oct. 2010.

  • vSphere port replication group

What type of failover policy is necessary for a port of dvs group used for replication of vSphere? (active / active)?  (active / standby?)

I recommend always to use Active/active, unless there is a reason not to. For example, if you have two cards of VMkernel iSCSI on the same subnet and you must use the binding of ports.

  • Protection of RV replication group saw no VM

OK, I set up all my inventory maps, resources and warehouses of data placeholder without any problem.  I have 4 VM protected successfully with replication is enabled for all drives, but when I create a Protection Group, it does not show all for the protection of the VM.

I followed all the steps I could find, but have no idea what is the problem.

    Help please!

If it's the same problem I had then

    Disconnect the vSphere client

Restart the service on the two vCenters SRM Server

  • ACS same username with two other group, two profiles of shell

    Hello

In my ACS 5.4 I want to have same useranme using two profiles of shell. This is the requirement.

Profile of a shell with privileges for admin peripheral IOS 15 and another with different privilege admin WCS. Because there may be two profiles of shell on the same profile authroization, I created two different profiles and correspondence with the name of the local group of ACS. However, whenever the user tries to access it always hits 1 profiles.

I'm not sure that I missing something, if someone has or knows how to do this please advise.

    Thank you

    Hello

What you can do is to create two authorization rules based on the ip address.

    Use two rules:

rule 1: If the ip address is wcs ip address then use WCS-Shell-profile

rul3 2: If the ip address of the device do not match the wcs ip address then use: other-Shell-profile

If you don't see the ip address in the rule options, you can always customize what options you want to compare from the button customize at the bottom right of the page.

  • Two-way replication in two databases in a single server

I have two instances of installation OGG, one for each database. Let's say that they are respectively OGG1 and OGG2 for DB1 and DB2. Ogg1 has two extracts and OGG2 has 1 replicat for replication of the first. It works well independently.  OGG2 has two excerpts and OGG1 1 replicat for replication of the second, which is for the direction of backword. It also works well independently. As I got to know previously, this is how I do two-way replication, by running these two processes together. I did it.

But when I did, it gives me the desired result. What currently happening given cannot be changed in one of the databases. When the data changes, it shows the change. but when committed, itself data is modified in its original values. What's the harm? Two processes works well independently.

ORASCN Hi Vicky, you were the subject of this question with me. It's good if you can have a look.

Yes, that was the problem. I added "TranLogOptions ExcludeUser ogguser" the main excerpt from two replications. ogguser is my user goldengate.

    Extract einta1q

    SETENV (ORACLE_SID = "dd")

    UserIdAlias ogg_user

    TranlogOptions IntegratedParams (max_sga_size 256)

    TranLogOptions ExcludeUser ogguser

    Exttrail ./dirdat/ip

    LOGALLSUPCOLS

    UPDATERECORDFORMAT COMPACT

    Table SC2.*;

Now looping does not occur. Replication is as expected. Thank you.

  • Replication between two servers without direct connecton

    Hi all

In this case, we have two servers without direct access between them (firewall, security requirements). In fact the two servers are stored in different VPN.
    and the question is:
Can you build an architecture that will provide replication between them (include the server in downstream, trails in the intermediate machine bank file, or something else)?

Much love and thanks for your suggestions))

    Hello

In this case, your downstream server should be able to communicate to your Source and target.

  • Replication between two sites with essential Kit more

    Hi all

can anyone confirm that the following scenario is possible?

A basic Kit Plus - replication - another essential Kit Plus
    3 Hosts                                                                      Other 3 Hosts

In other words: is it possible to replicate virtual machines between two sites, each managed by a single essential Kit Plus (outside the bounds of the CV)?

I'm sure that is correct, but I want to be sure.

    Thank you guys!

    Alex

Yes, you can use replication between vCenters thus vSphere. To do that you would like to devices VR is deployed to each vCenter and then connect them. How to do this is described in the VR installation and config and administrative documents.

    BTW, my name is GS.

    See you soon!

  • vSphere replication - grouping of NETWORK cards

We have a large virtual machine (60 to VMDK) we need to replicate to a second host.  We are currently receiving about 100 MB/s and it seems we're reached the limit of 1 GB.  I want to increase the bandwidth available for this large replication work by aggregating traffic through several nic is it possible?  If so, how?

I tried the following approach, thinking that these operations can be based on the same transfer mechanism, but it has not made a difference.

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & addresses...

The KB points it is grouping of network cards that will help when you lost the active NIC then stand by will pass your tgraffic.

Now coming to your scenario, you need to configure the user profile of the NIOC here you have to devote all the speed of the network to this replication job card. You cannot aggregate multiple Nic for reaching the combined capacity. We have a concept called LAG and LACP. but it will also give the speed that is independent to the different traffic

  • How can I script to group two frames?

I want to be able, from a script, to harness together a frame image and his label so that they move together. The context is that I am trying to automate the process of loading the images and add labels, leaving them paired together so I can then move/resize together to form my final layout. I think I just need to know how to set up a link between two images, since I know how to place the image and establish a framework text for the label. Suggestions welcomed and thanks in advance.

  • Replication between two hosts

    I have everyone,

I have two hosts on the same site, in stand-alone mode, but within the same vcenter with licensing standards

    Each host has 3 VMS.

Is it possible to replicate virtual machines each other on the same VirtualCenter and without cluster?

    Home 1 = VM1 + VM2 + VM3 & [+ VM4 VM5 + VM6 replication]

    Host 2 = VM4 VM5 + VM6 & [VM1 + VM2 + VM3 replication]

I have enough drive and it will be very safe to run the replicates in minutes in case of problems with a single host.

If you are using vSphere 5.1, yes you can use Standalone VMware vSphere replication, since vSphere that replication is included in the standard Lincenes.

  • Load balancing and replication between two ESX servers

This point is covered in another post last month, but I want to assure you that I am

erase before ordering anything.  We run a VMware

Server (ESX Server 3.5 Enterprise version).  I have about 12 VM

running on the server. The server is connected to via fiber channel to

a Clariion drive Bay.  We backup each virtual computer inside the virtual machine, not outside in

    it.

I want to buy an additional VMware Server which

provide redundancy. The second server VMware will also point the

Bay of same discs (shared storage).  It will store some VM as well.

    What

I want to do is to have two servers balance between them.

Also, I want that there return replication while is a server

Dies, it will be responsible for all virtual machines.

    What I have

read, we need to use a combination of VMware HA, DRS and VMotion to make

all it - OK?  I intend to buy another license of the VI3 enterprise as well as a permit for VirtualCenter Foundation.  Finally, if I have company for both servers ESX licenses and

VirtualCenter, which gives me VMware HA, DRS and VMotion

capacity?  I appreciate any guidance on this.

I don't think you can automatically load the balance between the two boxes.   the shared storage ensures guests / VM have the current data available.  No actual replication necessary.

Just take your Hardest hit of VM and split them between the two hosts.

On VMotion?  It is much easier to run just a host with a failure to another identical host.    I have not attemptied it in any other way quite a few facilities.   Do you think that your host is running out of gas?   I used to think that as well, but I'm surprised how much any given host can be loaded up without experiencing consitantly performance problems.    If they are windows?  You can check how the VM is performing pretty easy with the Windows performance tools.  All this with low end Iscsi San, I can only imagine how fiber of rocks on the performance.
