  Before your shot the beautiful F30 can you please say what OS you are using?
  Did you use the OS from the Toshiba restore CD?
  On this CD, all drivers must be preinstalled and you don t need to install no matter what chipsets or anything like that.

  Reinstall the drivers for DVD player and check.

  1. click on start > run

  Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total

  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
  ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and

  The question I have is when I log on Windows 7, the laptop does not recognize the DVD drive. The reader will not be displayed in my computer or Device Manager.   Seems odd.

  The only other thing I can think of, after reinstalling W7, is a BIOS problem eventually. A strange setting it may be an older version of BIOS with a bug in it. If you decide to update the bios, make sure that you get the latest version for your make and model PC and follow the instructions. You can destroy a PC with bad BIOS or update the procedure.

  I think you forgot to change the setting of scripture to your drive. To do this right click on your drive and select Properties. On the recording tab, check the box "Enable CD recording on this drive". With this setting, you should be able to recognize CD - R and DVD-R.
