Request to merge a partition in a tablespace

Hello

I have a partition called fiscal year 2005 and I want to merge this in a tablespace called "TEMP_TS".

What is the query for this?

Thank you.
ALTER TABLE your_table
  MERGE PARTITIONS FY2005, FY2006
  INTO PARTITION FY2007
      TABLESPACE temp_ts

  • Partitioning table and Tablespaces

    Hi all
We have tables db with millions of records. So we have them partitioned and each partition separate tablespace.

I want to know in what scenarios should we use separate tablespace for each partition because it leads to a waste of space at times.

    Concerning
    Lokesh

There are two scenarios where extending partitions on different tablespaces is logical.

One is when we have to use different profiles for different categories of partition, and we want to get the best value from our stock. For example, our table is partitioned by date. Most of user requests affects the latest records and the oldest records are rarely questioned and perhaps only of asynchronous process. In this scenario, using a different storage space means that we can put partitions on different servers: the most recent partitions on our more fast, more expensive discs and the old stuff on slower and less expensive kit. [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b32024/part_lifecycle.htm#CACECAFB] To learn more.

The other scenario is high availability. Our entire userbase makes queries across the table, but to execute individual queries against only a few partitions; If our table is probably divided by hash or list. By spreading the partitions on different tablespaces, we can miximise the availability of the data in the table. Suppose that we need to do an offline backup or datafile corruption there. If the table spans twenty tablespaces 95% of its data is still available for users.

  • How to merge two partitions in XP

I have Windows XP Service Pack 3.

The space becomes very low on my NTFS Partition that contains Windows XP. There are partition with more than 100 GB of free space I want to access — preferably by merging two partitions or not not to resize the NTFS partition.
From Googling, it seems that I cannot use the native Windows XP and need a third party application software, but I see that's not without risk of data loss.
    Can someone advise please?  Ty.

This desire. Not. Work. for system volumes or boot or a partition on which the pagefile system is located.

In addition, the GUI (using the disk management) method only works with volumes 'simple' or 'split', which are forms of "Dynamics" volumes and volumes of"base" that most of the people have set up.  http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314343

    Hello

I don't know any way in XP except by specialist partition management software. I use Acronis Disk Director, but it costs! There may be some freebies autour but none I have meet in so I wouldn't comment on their reliability and efficiency, or even their ability to do what you want.

  • What is the speed of the hard drive of the 2015 2 and 3 to merge disks partition?

I was looking through the Apple site and was wondering about the speed of the drive in the iMac in car merger. On their site it says that the 1 TB Fusion drive has 24 GB of Flash memory, and 2 models to and 3 to have 128 GB of Flash storage. But it does not say what the speed of the hard drive partition, which is what I want to know. It is 5400 RPM, or even 10000 rpm or 7200 RPM? I don't know, but I want to know. If anyone here knows the answer to this question, I would appreciate a response. Thank you.

I have seen it reported that the Fusion drives are all 7 200 RPM.

  • Re: Merge the partition recovery CD?

So, first of all, I would like to say that I am very good with computers/programming, so I guess what I was doing was rational.
Okay, so, I accidentally deleted and merged my windows recovery partition not knowing it was for recovery. Unfortunately I didn't recovery CD is. Is there something I can do to get this score re-created with what I have now OR there at - it somewhere I can get a recovery media (Note: I am in the USA)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, Austin Airways

Unfortunately the recovery partition can be recovered and you can do now is to order original Toshiba Recovery disk or to install own OS version.

I m not from the United States and may not send you a link where you can order it, but I recommend you to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

Toshiba U.S. support page is http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp > go fix > self-service. There, I hope that you will find all the answers.

    Good luck.

  • Vista partition tool can merge a partition itself?

I would like to delete the partition on my hard drive and then to merge part of it in my Vista partition.  I have Vista on C, my documents on D and XP on my partition of F.  I would like to delete F and then to merge half in C and the other half in D.  I can do all this in Vista's own native partitioning tools?

    Paul

    Hello Prr1,

Thank you for posting.  I did exactly that with one of my readers what you try to do it now.  So, the answer is Yes you can.  Just proceed with caution that your car has your Vista installed on it, while mine was an additional drive, I used for the storage and testing.  Both partitions are on the same physical drive you should not have any problems changing the size of partition using the Vista partitioning tool.

Please let me know if this was helpful. Zack

  • How to merge two partitions?

    Hello

I have to merge my F and G partitions without losing all the data to their topic. Is this possible? If so, how can I do?

There may be partition programs on in the world that can do it, but from my experience, the only way to do this effectively without having to buy additional programs is to do this:

    (1) copy G to an external destination as a USB

    (2) delete the partition G

    (3) extend F partition to fill the empty space left by the deleted G

    (4) copy the files from the disc to USB on F.

#1 option is the ONLY choice you have.

an EXCHANGE is just an update of metadata in the data dictionary. He 'Exchange' pointers to two data segments.

In particular, it DOES NOT move the data. Any tablespace data are forward exchange data will always be after.

  • Possible to move data in a partitioned into another tablespace table without indexes becoming UNUSABLE?

    Hello

We use oracle 11.2.0.3 and know that if move us data into partitions to a different tablespace indexes get marked as UNUSABLE.

It is the range of composite date hash partitioned table.

As a result, to rebuild the global and local bitmap index.

Is it possible to transfer data to one another without the index tablespace becomes UNUSABLE?

    Thank you

    Hello

If you want to update the index (so that it becomes invalid) while you perform the move partition, you can use the index update clause.

Details are mentioned in the Oracle documentation. Glue one of the page here for quick reference.

Note: It has an impact on the duration of this sql statement which may increase or decrease depending on the amount of data to move.

  • Merging 2 partitions on a hard disk again on Satellite X 200-21 L

    Ok
my situation: I bought the Satellite X 200-21 L (European version of the X 205-SLi3) on this point, I have two hard drives with a capacity of 160 GB per disk.
But among the hard disks is divided into two partitions, the partition "C:" for progra0ms and vista and partition "F:" for what you want.
The second hard drive D: is normal without a split (160GB).
But now, my score of the first hardrive (where is saved the programms and viste) is full. Therefore, I want to know, if possible, to unite the two bulkheads again!

    -is it possible?
-can which program I use? Vista its own program to do this?
-I only have a recovery CD... so I don't want to lose my data! the hidden for the automatic system recovery partition could be damaged?
-is only possible to run such a program, which protect my data and unite those partitions without losing something?

    My hard drives:

    File data-system: NTFS
Hardrive-Capacity: 160 GB (two of them, one is divided into two partitions))
    size: 2.5 Zoll
    Rotation speed: 5400U/min
    Cache memory: 8 MB
    average access time: 11 ms
port (internal): IDE 40Pin (Ultra DMA/ATA-66)
    MTBF: 600000 hours
Engine technology: dynamic fluid bearing / RoHS compliant

    THX!

As far as I know that something like this is possible. You can do the following:

    1. remove all data of D on the second HARD drive
    2. open Computer Management > disk management
    3. click with the right button of the mouse on the D partition, and then choose the option Remove Volume
    4. click with the right button of the mouse on the C partition and select Extend Volume option
    5. simply follow the menu on the screen

    Hello

I have a satellite L40 with a hard drive that is partitioned into two (C and E), one with 37GB capacity the other almonst 36 GB.

The C drive is nearly full and the E drive almost empty. I would like to remove the partition and have just a drive, it is possible.

Any advice would be welcome. I'm not a techi so be gentle.

    Concerning
    Peter

    Hello

    Of course, it is possible
You can do it in disk management.

Just right click on my computer--> Manage
    Here, choose disk management.

Now, you need to remove the E partition. Then the free space can be added to the C partition.

But note; until you do this, create the recovery disk (if you didn t have this done in the past.)

  • You can merge two partitions together?

I have three partitions in total. The main, the reserve system and I made for Ubuntu that I want to return the primary partitions. I uninstalled Ubuntu and want to just them back together. Don't have not really need the space back, but it would be nice. And if it's going to be a lot of work I'd rather just live with it.

If the Ubuntu partition is immediately after the C partition on the disk, delete it in disk management, then expand C in free space.

With any other layout, you need third-party partition management tools.
