Rescue and recovery - how to back up the entire operating system?

Hi all

Maybe I'm looking for something that is not supported, but since I got here, then we are

I'm running Windows 7 Pro (x 64) on the T410.

Rescue and Recovery 4.31

I divided my HARD drive into 2 partitions: C for the OS and D for data.

I have a disk storage network, so, apparently, I did not need to backup the data that is stored on drive D (already to store all my data on the NAS drive)

What I want to do is to set up the R & R to backup all my drive C (the OS only)

How can I go about to do?

Thanks a lot for your comments

You can do this in "Advanced" mode of Rescue and Recovery:

1. open Rescue and Recovery

2. click on the arrow next to "Launch Advanced Rescue and Recovery" in the lower left corner

3. click on 'Set schedule and preferences' on the right side

4. click on your "Include partitions" D: drive on the right, so that d will not be saved.

  • Rescue and Recovery will restore all of the disk?

I searched high and low for an answer to this question, but I'm not. I have use Rescue and Recovery to back up the drive of my laptop. If I have a problem of catastrophic disk, save and recovery will restore my entire drive to a new drive, including the service partition? I have a fully functional and updated disc to date after a full restore? (Guess that I restore using a floppy disk to boot Rescue and Recovery, which have I already have.)

Well, I decided that I have a couple of hours on my hands and a fresh backup using rescue and recovery (in order to test whether or not he backs up the recovery partition) and a Windows Vista "complete PC Backup" (in this case that it fails).

The result: Yes, when you restore a recent backup, it will also restore the recovery partition.

    I am very happy.

  • How to back up the entire machine (including ESXI)?

So we have a box that we install vmware (esxi?) + 2 FVO (virtual machines). One is Linux and other windows. We have the package as part of our "product". Yes, we are resellers of VMware. We then harden wmware following documentation for lock ports and updates...

We deliver it on an IBM 3550.

Rather than do all the installation steps every time, I want to make a backup of everything and then install everything done for the client having to change only the IP addresses and the password. Can anyone suggest how we could do that? Its a 300 GB drive, but a lot of it will be empty.

    Thanks for the pointers/direction.

Welcome to the community - I recommend creating scripted you install ESXi host and then import the two OVFs - you can find the steps for a script install here - http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-501-installation-setup-guide.pdf including a stand-alone cd.

  • Can I go back to the old operating system after upgrade to el Capitan?

I have a MacBook Air and recently updated (?) for Os X El Capitan. Now, I can't use my Photoshop elements 11. Is there a solution? If this is not the case, can I go back to what I had before El Capitan?

    Hi, grumpy :)

This isn't what you want to read but it is a recommended to ensure that applications you must have will launch on an updated operating system.

I do not use the product, but you may need to upgrade your Photo shop elements. Version 14 seems to work on Capitan:

    https://www.Adobe.com/products/Photoshop-elements/buying-guide.html

You must decide if it's worth the cost of upgrade or use an older OS X, considering that a new OS X (Sierra) will be released at some point.

Someone else here can advise you how to restore if that's your decision.

  • How can I reinstall the original operating system was on my Fujitsu Lifebook without the CD?

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook series S, model S7211, and I had a bug on the computer, so I had to reinstall the OS, but my computer never came with a disc as it was a gift, so I had to install another OS that was intended for another computer, a DELL computer. I noticed right away that some of the functions that the computer was previously working is no longer, and it doesn't bother me at first, but now my computer seems to run slower, and I wanted to find a way to reinstall the original OS. I have the product key, but I can't find a way to download Windows Vista business on the Windows website.

Can someone direct me to a download link or the part of the windows Web site I where can I enter my product key and to create a disk so I can install it?

    Hello

You cannot use a Dell disk on a Fujitsu laptop.

There are several ways to reinstall Vista, see what you can use..

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there may always be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

  • can you make a password reset disk on a computer and use it on another using the same operating system?

One of my friends has forgotten his password and I was wondering if I could make the password reset disk for him?

A password reset disk only works on the computer, on which it was made.

What to do if you forget your Windows password

If you have forgotten your Windows password and you are on a domain, you must contact your system administrator to reset your password. If you are on a working group (the majority of individuals are on a working group), you can reset your password by using a reset disk of password or by using an administrator account.

    Create a password reset disk:

    Reset your Windows password:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/reset-your-Windows-password

If you forget the administrator password, and you do not have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you will not be able to reset the password. If there is no other user account on the computer, you will not be able to connect to Windows and you will need to re - install Windows.
