  • Reset Safari Version 9.0.2 (11601.3.9)

I use on my MacBook Pro (early 2011) running Mac OS 10.11.2 Reset Safari Version 9.0.2 (11601.3.9).  Safari has acted a bit wonky lately.  It happened at the wrong url, suspended for several minutes (beachball), etc.  In older versions of Safari, I could access the Safari item in the menu bar and pull down to "Reset Safari".  This option is no longer available.  So, how can I reset Reset Safari Version 9.0.2 (11601.3.9)?

    Thank you!

I suggest you only begin by taking the measures recommended in this support article.

  • disappearance of storage with Safari el capitan

I have a macbook air 13 "mid-2011 running version 10.11.4 El Capitan.  It has approximately 17 GB of free space for HARD drive storage.

When I run Safari (9.1) and let the system and Safari open my HARD disk gradually drops and finally will be reduced to 0 GB!  This of course breaks Applications and I have to force quit.  The category 'Other' storage is the culprit who grows as HARD disk space becomes smaller.  If I Quit Safari drive HARD returns space to ~ 17 GB.

This happens sometimes, but not all the time?

I reindexed Spotlight and deleted the Safari Cache and history, but nothing helped.

If Time Machine is enabled and the external drive disconnected when this happens?

  • Factory default Reset Safari

Small screenshot here so you guys see this with me better:

I accidentally deleted the "Bing" favorite coming in safari by default. I would like to know if resetting default Safari would bring him back and if so, please tell me how to do this.

Thanks a lot to the guys in the forum who help others, it means a lot and I really thank you for that. I'll look at the post for the next 20 minutes so as soon as I get a response I'll mark it as resolved fairly quickly.

    Thanks again!

You can just add it yourself back. Visit Bing: https://www.bing.comand then click on the share (square with the arrow coming out of it) icon. Choose the option to add a bookmark, and choose Add to Favorites. -AJ

  • Save in different place - Safari El capitan

It feels a little strange question, but I REALLY can't understand this.

I try to save an image from Safari on my computer but I don't seem to be able to choose the location to save it. Even if I open the context menu and select the option "Save Image under...". ", a pop-up window opens with a choice of repertoire , BUT the only option to choose in the menu drop-down is the same download folder (here also a remote disk option in the menu which is totally useless to me).

I'm sure that where other options to choose from in the dropdown under "Desktop", "The file" etc, but now the only option seems to be the downloads folder.

    (A) Pourquoi - what happens?

    (B) is it possible to add a place more to the menu drop-down select to save an image in safari?

As it is the option ' Save Image under... ". "did exactly what the option 'save image', but it takes a few extra steps to do...

    VERY frustrating.

I'm running the latest and greatest versions of El Capitan/Safari.

Update: not knowing how, but earlier another option popped up, but it is still far from resolved.

    Any ideas?

  • How to Reset Safari due to frost?

So for several months now my iMac 2010 was gel on and outside. It literally freezes everything except the mouse cursor and I pressed the power button to restart. After many tests, I find that the culprit is Safari!

Last week I did a reinstall of the operating system via the startup on the partition, but the problem persists. It's often when I have a few tabs open, but do not know if this is relevant?

So I thought that the new OS install would be a new version of Safari, but Frost occurs although I wonder what I can do to get Safari as clean as possible without losing my bookmarks etc?

Maybe delete the file or some other stuff? Would be really grateful for the help from you, the gurus of Safari

  • Safari 9 (El Capitan) freezes

    Hello

After years of reliability, Safari seems to have stopped working in El Capitan.

I open Safari.   After a few Internet sites, my entire computer is out of memory and I have to force everything quit and restart.

This problem never happens unless I open Safari.  Then it happens in five minutes.   I've been avoiding it by using Firefox without problem.

I did everything I can find online...     My Mac Mini has a maximum memory possible.   Larger hard drive possible.

    -Reset Safari/delete cookies

    -Uninstall all plug-ins...

-I even made TWO total re installed on EL Capitan...

I would be grateful any advice anyone could have.

Safari/Preferences/Advanced - activate the menu to develop it, then go ahead and empty Caches. Quit/relaunch Safari and test. Then try Safari/history/Show History and remove all items from the history.  Quit/relaunch Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History... The downside is that it deletes all cookies. It could upset some sites no longer recognizes your computer as one that has visited the web site. Go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder.  Select Library./Caches/com.apple.Safari/Caches.db, and then move it to the trash.

Go to Safari preferences/Extensions and disable all extensions. Test. If correct, enable the extensions one by one until find you which extension is causing the problem.

  • Safari 9 (El Capitan) is to save cookies in private browsing

    Hello

I noticed that Safari 9 (OS X El Capitan) saves cookies when I'm in the private browsing window.

When I visit certain websites (e.g. gizmodo.com) in private browsing, and I close the window, the site cookie is always displayed.

I tried to restart the Mac, but private browsing Safari cookies have not been deleted.

Apple says that: "when you are using a private browsing window: Safari doesn't remember the changes to your cookies or other data from the website." (9 safari (El Capitan): private browsing windows use)

I find this strange because in Firefox or Google Chrome incognito mode deletes cookies when you close the window.

Please try this as a test.

    1 empty Caches

    Safari > Preferences > advanced

Tick the box "Show develop menu in menu bar."

Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.

Click on develop and select 'Empty cache' in the menu dropdown.

    2 Delete Cookies

Safari > Preferences > privacy > Cookies and other data from the website:

    Click on the button "Details".

Delete all cookies except those from Apple, your internet service provider and the banks.

3 safari > file > new private window

    Try the gizmodo.com site.

Safari > Preferences > privacy > Cookies and other data from the website:

    Cookie of Gizmodo appears?

I've tested this and there was no gizmodo stored cookie after you close the private window.

  • typing in Safari

I've got El Capitan 10.11.5 and safari 9.1.1

I can't type in the search field.  Amazon, Facebook, Wikipedia, etc.  Typing is laggy and AutoCorrect going nuts.  I often get the beach ball.  I erased from history, all caches and extensions.  I have updated flash also.  Is it possible to reset safari to the factory?  I've tried everything.  It's only the search bars.  Any clue?

In the Safari menu bar, please select

    ▹ Safari preferences...

and select the "Search" tab in the window that opens. Uncheck all the boxes. Any change?

  • Safari ceased to autofocus on the address bar after you open a new tab

The problem just appeared out of the blue (no prior of note that I can remember happening to OS X, or Safari).

I know this may seem like a minor issue, but a heavy user of Safari would accept this quirk would be annoying bloody.

I use the latest public version of El Capitan (10.11.4) on a rMPB and an iMac (the two are sitting in the same local network on both machines, I'm the only user), and the question seems to have emerged more or less simultaneously on both devices.

No beta updates have been applied, all system updates have been installed via the official Apple App Store.

    • I tried resetting Safari Preferences to open new tabs in a page empty (like some suggested users before), but which resulted in nothing. Also, I tried to disable all extensions and completely ban Internet plug-ins.

    • The problem persists when you connect as a guest and when you restart the system startup.

This phenomenon has never occurred to me before.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this problem, I would be very grateful to restore softness to my workflow.

    Thanks in advance.

    -Alex.

    Hello..

Given that this is happening on two Macs restart your modem router and internet Wi - Fi, restart the Mac and then try Safari.
