Resize the document

Hello;

I use a MacBookPro OS 10.6.4 with CS5 (InDesign version 7)

I presented a book of 120 pages with a 5 "x 8" format. The preliminary pages, Table of contents, chapter headings and body text, all had policies specific and layout styles. Now, I have the book even for 6 "x 9".

(1) I tried setting a blank template of 6 x 9 and copy the text through the 5 x 8 document but found a lot of the formatting of 5 x 8 came and it did not work.

(2) I did 5 x 8 duplicate file and tried to resize the document (file > Document format and page layout > margins and columns) I had the layout > layout adjustment > activate setting layout click on WE but when I made the changes I found text 5 x 8 blocks don't resize properly for 6 x 9.

What would be the best way to resize a book 5 x 8, 6 x 9, keeping the police styles intact etc., while having blocks of text resize to the new constraints?

Thank you.

Marc

Adjustment of layout depends on the proper use of guides to determine how move or resize objects.

If you had executives at the margins that they should have been resized correctly size.

  • Resize the document with Tables

    I use InDesign CS6.

    I have more than 100 documents, with tables. I need to resize my documents 48 p 9 x 65 p 3 to the new small size 44 d 3 x 54 p 0.

    When resizing the document is it possible that tables will be will resize automatically also?

    New page in same proportions not same size of the original page size. So can not just scale the page more small.

    But you can scale a table if you to scale the block of text that appear in the table. Make the text frame exactly the same size as the table. Then hold down the Cmd/CTRL + SHIFT and scale the text block to a corner.

  • Resize the document to match the content

    Hello

    I would like to resize a document to match its content. This should be done by script. For example, I had only 3 items at the center of the document. In this case, these objects must be moved that all together (as a group) to the upper left corner of the document, then the document must be resized correctly, so no 'free' unused margin of space will be left. How can I do? I use InDesign Server for this task, he commands by JavaScript.

    Thank you for all the comments!

    This script follows the recipe:

    doc = app.documents [0];

    g = doc.pages [0].groups.add (doc.pages [0] .allPageItems);
    Bounds = g.geometricBounds;
    doc.documentPreferences.pageHeight = [2] limits - limits [0];
    doc.documentPreferences.pageWidth = limits [3] - limits [1];
    g.Move ([0,0]);

  • Is it possible to resize the document, but keep the content proportions?

    With scripts, there are currentDocument.resizeImage () and currentDocument.resizeCanvas (). ResizeImage() method stretches the image. The resizeCanvas() will resize the canvas but not change the size of the image.

    I'm looking to resize the canvas to a new format, but keep the aspect ratio of the content. Is there a way to do this?

    OK, I got it working!

    adjustedWidth = width;

    adjustedHeight = height;

    If (imageAspectRatio > targetAspectRatio) {}

    adjustedHeight = width / imageAspectRatio;

    }

    else {}

    adjustedWidth = height * imageAspectRatio;

    }

    currentDocument.resizeImage (adjustedWidth, adjustedHeight, null, resampleMethod);

    currentDocument.resizeCanvas (width, height, AnchorPosition.MIDDLECENTER);

    I'm working on an iMac, and when I opened Fireworks CS5, the document window extends to almost the full screen.  The panels like the Properties Panel also expand to fit the width of the screen.

    I want to make these little ones.  But it does not re-sizing handles on one of these and there must be a way to do this, but I can't find anything that gives me instructions on how to do!

  • Resizing the Document window to predetermined size

    I hope it's just a quickie... Set just a website and I'm about to start over and I wanted to change the size of the page to 760 x 420 as recommended. However, are moved to change that from the pop-up menu at the bottom and all sizes are grey (even tried to determine the size of my own - but which is grayed out too.
    I'm stuck on a single size (1018 x 497) was it in my own size of the screen? Should I just keep on working parameters I put with guides?

    1. you can't change these items down the page until you have
    the document in DW pane unmaximized. But don't bother because,
    2. change this value has no effect on your page other than to show it in a
    small size window. He added any code to the page.

    If you want your page to be 760px wide, that's how broad, you do
    the largest element on the page. You don't have to try to control the
    height - you ideally or reliable don't anyway.

  • Resize the size of the Document instead of the Page Size

    Hello

    I was wondering if there was anyway to resize the document? Or change the document format? For the moment, I made the pages with myPage.resize (...); but I can not find the method resize for Documents, and I can't find another way. What can I do?

  • PES 12 - drag the photo in larger document tray resizes the image

    I upgraded from the 10 to 12 PSE PSE this week and leave me perplexed by a change in behavior.

    I created a large blank document (3600 x 3600 pixels, size of scrapbook) and then drag the other top items to create new layers.

    In PSE10, what I dragged into guarded their original size. In PES 12, they get resized to match the size of the document that I am dragging on.

    Y at - it a setting I need to change? Can't find it.

    For a few versions, including 10 PES, dragging it to the top of the photo tray placed things as dynamic objects. It normally puts in PES 12, would make a dough in the same way. If you want to reproduce the behavior of PES 10, use file > place instead of drag.

  • How to resize the window document on Mac?

    This seems to be a silly question, but it seems to be no grabber corner to resize my document windows. It's a 'novelty' or did I miss something.

    Are you talking about the textured triangle which appeared in the lower right?

    I'm under Fireworks CS5/6 on Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and that there is no longer a grabber corner. Instead, you simply hover over an edge or a corner and look for the cursor change arrow double-sided. I don't know why this change has been done. It offers kind of acreage for interactivity (on the edges); However, if two windows are right next to each other (like the document window and panels), there is no way of knowing who is about to be resized up to that later.

  • Script that resize a document of 50% to match the two resolutions of the iPad

    Hi guys,.

    My first issue of Appliness (www.appliness.com) is a folio of 768 x 1024. For the next issue, I'll output two renditions: 1536 x 2048 and 768 x 1024.

    I'm not an InDesign expert, so I tried to find the best workflow with my friend Stephane barrel. The best way I found is to start by creating my folio with pages of high resolution (2048 x 1536) and in the end, all reduce by 50% to obtain the return of the iPad1/iPad2. Manually, it is not easy collapse all. So I ended up writing a small JavaScript which:

    • Gets the paper orientation (portrait and landscape)
    • unlock all layers in the document
    • loop through all the pages
    • release items from master pages
    • create an empty rectangle which corresponds to the size of the page (to get a well defined page Center all in scaling)
    • includes all elements of the page
    • everything that the scale of 50%
    • resize pages to 768 × 1024
    • changes the properties of the document to define the new dimensions and correct orientation

    DISCALIMER: It works well for my magazine. As I'm not an expert, I can't guarantee that it will work with your pages, but it's worth a try... InDesign there is no risk. It will produce the documents of 768 x 1024, but you will lose your layers. If consider just as an 'exit' or an 'export', a "flat copy" to quickly get a 768 x 1024 made of your work to 2536:2048.

    I posted my JavaScript here code: http://appliness.com/automatic-rescale-with-indesign/

    I will try to attach the script in this post. As this is the code, I don't know if it will be accepted.

    I hope it helps.

    Thanks for sharing this script. It is especially useful if you want to create different source files sets, although I find that the creation of source documents 1024 x 768 and adding them to 2048 x 1536 folios works very well for me.

    Cookbooks of DPS is a good place for you to post your script. Mark has recently posted a video of scrollable frames. Please do not hesitate to add a recipe:

  • Help! Resizing the different documents with different resolutions?

    Hello!

    Please help me with my situation:

    I tried to do an action that will shrink by 1 inch to all parts of my document (the document had 12 x 36 inches) and, hopefully, to other documents.  I don't want to crop the image, I want to just resize the entire image to 10 x 24 inches, leaving a transparent border of 1 inch (the grey and white checkerboard) to my document. I started to resize manually, but it was a lot of time so I tried to take action, as I said above. I expected that he would spend a proportional 1 inch upper, lower, left and right other documents, but he did not. Any procedure for that happen in different documents with different sizes and resolutions?

    PS: All the documents I will resize itself would be finally printed (I don't know if it would help).

    Thank you very much for your help!

    Read the Action reinforced via the script Photoshop functions.txt file it tell you the function run each script.  Most script will retrieve things like the width and height of thay are used all the time. Look at the file size of the JSX file. Read more small there's no much too small should be easy to read and understand.  Orient.jsx and RotatePortrait.jsx will for sure get the width and height and SaveAndRestoreResolution.jsx will get the resolution.

    var orig_ruler_units = app.preferences.rulerUnits;

    app.preferences.rulerUnits = Units.PIXELS;

    get the height and width in pixels

    var width = app.activeDocument.width;

    var height = app.activeDocument.height;

    var RES = app.activeDocument.resolution;

  • When I try to open a document size 9 "by 18", Reader it opens as a standard 8.5 "by 11". Is it possible to resize the player frame? Do I need different software?

    The document is an array of seating for my wedding. I did the document in Word due to instructions from this site: http://mrsfancee.com/chalkboard-seating-chart/

    When I save it as a pdf, reader fits just what he can from the original document in the standard page settings and the cutting of parts of my document. Is it possible to do this with the Word document? Or do I have to start all over again in a different software? I'm kind of panicking because it's for my wedding in 11 days, and apparently I don't know what I'm doing at all.
