"Restart Firefox to complete your changes" and nothing changes
Firefox will not update at all extensions / plugins / Add - ons, despite the restart of firefox to make the changes. Safe Mode boot no longer works. I use v3.6.6 but wonder if updates of Microsoft Vista have anything to do with blocking firefox like this.
This has happened
Each time Firefox opened
== Noticed today
Fixed a problem!
I use NoScript as an essential element to block undesirable residues. All I had to do was re - download after you remove these files and restart firefox.
Thank you.

How can I restart firefox with the same tabs and windows?
How can I restart firefox with the same tabs and windows?
It is not in the file menu or tools. I get nothing when searching for help. FF still knows how to do it, say to update extensions.
I know that I can do by saving my session, coming out, reboot and restore the session but is there a single command to do this?
Thank you. -David
I have attached a screenshot showing how to select restore automatic session just above the setting of the Home Page where it says "When Firefox starts".
With this set, you can restart Firefox manually out using the menu-
- "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
- (menu bar) File > Exit
-and then restart Firefox.
If you want a real reboot with a click of button, you can check something on the Add-ons site: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/

My OS is Windows XP service pack 3 version. I even tried to install FF4 but he never settle. As I mentioned my FF continues to try to update, but it gives the error message that I set out in the title. Now I don't have access to my FF browser and my life stopped because I have all my saved passwords on FF. I restarted my laptop but it stills try to update himself giving the same error message. I can not also improved my Adobe reader 7.0.7-10 I tried more than 10 times, but it is never up to date. I had this problem Adobe for a long time.
Run the program Firefox once as an administrator (right click: run as administrator).
If this does not help, then do a clean reinstall.Do a clean install (re)-:
- Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.
- Uninstall your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before installing this copy of the Firefox installer.
- Do not erase personal data if you uninstall the current version.
- It is important to remove the Firefox program folder to delete all the files and make sure that there is no problem with the files that were the remains after uninstallation.
Your bookmarks and other profile data is stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and will not be affected by a relocation, but make sure that you do not select delete data of a personal nature if you uninstall Firefox.

I was watching www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles for months. I started using Firefox about a month ago. Earlier today, when I tried connecting to the site, I received the message "Firefox has detected that the server redirects the request for this address in a way that will never end."
I went on your site and follow the instructions. This Web site was not in the blocked sites. He told me how to add it, and I did.
She still refuses to open this site.

I'm afraid to update firefox since the last 3 times I did so firefox stop working and had to be reinstalled.
I'm glad it works again. This is the important result and thanks for posting back.
Repeated to uninstall and reinstall Firefox often do not help.
Clicking on the pop-up of unknown or doubtful origin, it is always a bad idea.Screenshots will help if you are still having problems.
Connects to any future reference is not to the internet, after a new installation may be related to problems with the firewall or your security software not recognizing Firefox.

I would like Firefox to HTML for reading and nothing else.
I would like to be able to browse a domain without sending all the cookies, running a script, or resources other than the URL download or pages I specify - just to get the HTML code and format text for reading, with tables and links and other whatnot, clickable image placeholders may be. Similar to the way that the text-only Lynx browser works. Is it possible to do this in Firefox? Or maybe an add-on that does? I have Noscript, but it is only part of what I want. It seems that Firefox is already doing the basic work, I just want to make a whitelist or a mode where is ALL this.
Maybe this extension:
- Tab permissions: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tab-permissions/

I have the local and versions at distance of a page is open in two tabs. I change images (keeping the same name in the HTML code) and download the modified image. The tab that displays the remote page does a refresh to show the change. The tab showing the local page of do not. I tried to open it in a new window, but it still doesn't change. Only if I restart Firefox does show the change. Why? Is this a bug?
Try using Ctrl-Shift-R or Ctrl-F5 to reload the page. This tells Firefox to reload all the content on the page, ignoring cached assets copies.
I don't know why this is happening in the first place, although I suspect it may have something to do with the fact that the remote copy is loaded from a web server (including a bunch of headers allowing browsers to know when we need to get a new copy of an asset), while the local copy is loaded directly into the file system.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:
- In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button
click Help
then select restart with disabled modules.
- In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
- On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.
When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.
- In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

I have reset start empty, but there is not.
So just to confirm, in the general Panel of the Options page, you set
"When Firefox starts: display a blank page.
And when you close the Options page and open it again, your bet is still there.
But when you close Firefox and run it again, it has changed to:
"When Firefox starts: show my home page".
There are a number of possible reasons for Firefox to lose your changes of parameters between session. Software that is designed to protect you against unwanted changes you blocks actually make changes sought. This includes Advanced SystemCare, and some other utility/privacy/security software with a 'navigation protection' or a 'protection home page"feature.
This article has other possible explanations: How to fix preferences that will not save.
If you find that Firefox remembers not change between visits on the Options page: you can have a different problem, as a generally unwanted program named SearchProtect who should be removed from the Windows Control Panel or a configuration file 'automatic' which locks your start setting. We can help you to further explore that if this seems to be the behavior.

Upgrade to 8 FF (of 3.6) seem to go smoothly, as did restart on Acer desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium. But I get "reboot needed to complete the installation of FF" whenever I try to start and seq. tried uninstalling FF using the uninstall from the control panel and uninstall in my Mozilla folder - get the same message "Restart required". Tried to reinstall FF - same message. In short, totally unusable FF - and I'm starting to like Google Chrome.
Please see:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Software Update not working properly)
Delete the files:
C:\Users\ < user > \AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates (Firefox %LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla)
(Above is a windows installation - an installation Mac stores its files in /Applications/Firefox.app)
To open one of these folders in OS x, Ctrl-click and select to display the contents of the package. )Download a new copy of Firefox for the installation.
Uninstall your current version of Firefox before installing, but do not remove your profile data when you uninstall Firefox (do not select delete data of a personal nature) or you will lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder. Remove the Firefox program folder as well.
Do a clean reinstall as an administrator. See:
http://KB.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall
For more information on your profile folder, see profile management and:

Shows a check as v16.0.0.287 Shockwave Flash plugin, but it updated the current 16.0.0.305 and restart Firefox (v36.0) do not change the version number or status when rechecking the plugins. Control of Adobe and the Flash Control Panel website confirms 16.0.0.305 is installed. All the solutions to this?
I noticed in the information in the topic: plugins page under Shockwave Flash, path: line was showing.
< path: C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_16_0_0_287.dll,C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_16_0_0_305.dll >
For outdated version 287 .dll file was still there and listed before the current version of 305. I deleted the 287 .dll version and restart Firefox and check the plug-ins again the problem seems to have been resolved.

http://ImageShack.us/a/img18/1740/89238227.jpgHello yAxOr, can you try to start firefox in safe mode by pressing the SHIFT key during startup of this and see if the problem occurs there too? Maybe a theme or hardware acceleration intrudes here...
If safe mode does not work, you can try to disable hardware acceleration in firefox > options > advanced > general and or disable addons that could cause the problem. It would also be interesting what graphics hardware (description of the adapter, driver date and version of the driver) you use - you can access this information in firefox > help > correct information to the bottom of this page... Thank you

If I click on something to open in a new tab or click on the email from someone open Outlook, instead, a group of empty tabs open. I'm fine with a few empty tabs, but they keep opening. The only way to stop the opening tabs is to close entirely out of firefox. When I try to reopen firefox, blank tabs are again starting to reopen. You can not close out of them pretty quickly because they keep opening. To not open the empty tabs, you must restart firefox again.
What is a virus or something wrong with my firefox settings?
Firefox includes options of how to manage the different types of content in your case that mailto links are probably set to "Use Firefox". For more information on how to solve it see Firefox opens several times empty tabs or windows after clicking on a link, especially the section "change the action for a content type.

I opened firefox there are 2 tabs and a banner beneath them that says "mozilla firefox is free software and open source of the Foundation not-for-profit mozilla." I clean everything before I use the browser. Whenever I change my STARTUP "homepage" when I close the browser and open it again it all boils down, nothing changes. What is the problem with firefox?
