Reform in journaled HFS +?

I have some programs that will not work with the format 'Mac OS extended (case-sensitive, journaled, encrypted)' and I said, I reform of logging HFS +, but how do I do that? And save?
Hope this isn't a stupid question and you guys can help me

    Thank you for reaching out to the Community Support from Apple. I know how it is important to keep your files and photos and I will do everything I can to help. What I would recommend here, do a right click on the drive of your Finder and selecting "Get Info" here you should be able to enter the user name and password to unlock the drive and access your data.

  • Unable to write to the external hard drive

    I am trying to copy files to an external hard drive FireWire 800 and I get an error this file "names are too long for the destination" (even if the file names are just 1 short word). Reading files from the external drive works fine.

    Player is a 6 TB G-TECH G-RAID, formatted as a volume journaled HFS +. I checked the disk in disk utility, and everything seems ok. Permissions in the Finder said I read & write access.

    The only thing that has changed since the last, I used the drive successfully was that I returned the 10.7 to 10.5 operating system. I don't remember having to format the drive initially it was plug-and-play right out IIRC. Someone knows what could happen?

    Do not know what is happening, quite an odd error!

    Redo a get information on drive & try to check "ignore permissions on this volume.

  • Mac App Store is writing updates on an external drive!

    Hi people,

    I recently added an external USB3 drive of my Mac Mini, which is in place and it works very well. It is journaled HFS +, property is 'ignored' and it is mounted in /Volumes as you would expect. (I also have to stress is the fourth disc I added in this way.) My main drive is unchanged, still mounted on / and is always presented as my boot drive in system preferences. It was also around 450 GB of free space.

    However, when I update an application such as Pages or via the Mac App Store numbers, it creates a folder in the "new" external drive and place the .app file here. Also, it creates a directory/library and places receipts in there, too. Applications updates do not appear in the Dock or dashboard.

    The behavior is completely recreatable and persists reboots of the system.

    I can't find an obvious preference setting to control the target disk. is it possible that I can configure or reset the Mac App Store to use my main drive?

    Please triple - click anywhere in the line below on this page to select:

    Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

    ☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

    ☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    Paste in the Terminal window by pressing the command-V key combination. I tested these instructions only with the Safari browser. If you use another browser, you may need to press the return key after pasting.

    Wait for a new line ending with a dollar sign ($) below what you entered.

    The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produces no output, the Clipboard is empty. Paste into a reply to this message.

  • How can I encrypt a drive where cs diskutil convert reports 'a problem', let the unreadable disk?

    I try to encrypt my Time Machine backup volume, but diskutil refuses and leaves the disc unreadable (but fixable using Linux).  How can I proceed?

    It is a disc of TB USB3 Western Digital Elements 107 3.

    It has one HFS partition + and works very well.

    diskutil verifyDisk and diskutil verifyVolume don't report any problems.  I also used Alsoft DiskWarrior to repair inconsistencies, without problems.

    If I try to convert the volume, diskutil report 'a problem', like this:

    This leaves the unreadable disk.  diskutil cs list shows the drive as a basic storage volume that is "online" and "reversible" but it may not be mounted or acted on, nor can the physical volume of the parent.  Disk utility crashes at startup when the drive is connected.  diskutil repairDisk on volume of parent reports:

        Repairing the partition map might erase disk4s1, proceed? (y/N) y
    Started partition map repair on disk4
    Checking prerequisites
    Problems were encountered during repair of the partition map
    Error: -69808: Some information was unavailable during an internal lookup

    In fact, all access to the disc seems to be broken at this point.

    You cannot read the device using hexdump.  The kernel seems mightily confused.

    I was able to recover the disc mounting Linux using the utility 'gdisk' to change the partition type to AF02 (storage of carrots) to AF00 (HFS +).  After that, diskutil checks the disk so the volume as OK.

    I think that Apple has a bug where diskutil fails to return the partition type.

    But this me no bugs more closely to encrypt my backup volume.

    Anyone have any idea what might be the 'problem' and how do I proceed?

    I see that you are wanting to encrypt your Time Machine backup disk. I see you are trying to do through Terminal or Unix command line, have you tried to use it through the Time Machine configuration and preferences? Take a look at this article and see how it works for you.

  • SOS... Can not install CS5, Exit Code 7, required memory has not met, etc.

    I am looking for the installation of newly purchased CS5 Design Premium.  My system will not support InDesign so I unchecked that before trying to install. I ran to install under normal conditions and start, and the following messages occur in each...

    Exit code: 7 .... 0 fatal Error (s), 65 (s), 124 warning (s)

    WARNING: DW036: payload cannot be installed due to the failure of the operation depending on, and so on...

    and the first mistakes...

    ERROR: failed to update driver data. The driver entry has not been added. ARP estimated size 3726KB

    ERROR: DW050: the following payload errors were found during the installation:

    ERROR: DW050:-Adobe WinSoft Linguistics Plugin CS5: installation failed

    ERROR: DW050:-Adobe CS5 Infrastructure CSXS: installation failed

    and so on, indicating all facilities had failed.

    My file system is journaled HFS +, (is this breaks?) with 30 GB free. I use a 32-bit with OS x 10.6.8 MacBook that I've been on with tech support where I bought the CS5 design premium. I have 1 GB of RAM, I was told by them that I need 2GB, the system requirements of the status box it needs 1 GB and this file says I need 500 MB.

    Is this something that would prevent my install and cause these install errors under the exit code 7?  The warning related to the failure of the operation dependent seems too generic with all.  I tried to get this program and running for a week and my work piling up, Please help or advise.  My head is spinning!

    Note: Please keep in mind that I'm new to Mac OS. I've always stuck with a Windows PC until recently. This is why some things are difficult for me to grasp at this point.

  • Fireworks CS3 - internal error when save as JPEG and batch mode

    I am currently in difficulty for these 7 days due to this error. I hope someone can help me.

    After the upgrade from CS3 Fireworks 8, I'll have the 'internal error' message both if you selected the preview for a JPEG export format (it works OK when the export format is GIF or PNG) and when I work with batch processing.

    Everything is OK, if I run fireworks as user 'root' or as a user "adminplus" ("adminplus" is the username of an additional user with administrative privileges that I created for the test).

    My operating system Mac OS x 10.5.4 and my computer is a MacBook2, 1 (MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and a brand new 186,31 GB Hitachi journaled HFS + HD with 100 GB free).

    I tried many ways to get the valuable differences in library files and privileges (to search many forums, it seems that may be the cause, was also confirmed by the fact that other users works very well) but I don't have any particular differences.

    I tried to trash the preferences but the error is still present.

    I tried with the temporary main file on Mac OS x with terminal command "stat - x $TMPDIR" checked against the command "id". User and privileges were OK but always the "internal error" was there.

    I tried with a simple reinstall for Fireworks CS3 and with a complete reinstallation of more complete CS3 web standard and, in addition, uninstalling and reinstalling everything.

    I also tried with 8 Fireworks that was not removed by the upgrade, and it has the same problems.

    Can I receive a competent suggestion on how to diagnosis and fix the problem?

    Ok. I solved it!

    Who will have the same problem can ask how I solved. It is not complicated, but it's a long story. I have succeed without a reinstallation of an operating system such as suggested by ADOBE support, in which case none of the suggestions are everywhere, will not work.

    I'll be happy to explain what to do for those who need it.

  • Academic journals, leading to the shutdown of Wifi

    It is a problem of confusion I have known during the last two weeks. When I tried to connect to the following sites (http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayAbstract?fromPage=online & aid = 210139 & S0269915X03002039 = starts and http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0063077) separate days on wifi networks separate, the pages would be the largest load part of the path, but if you click on any of the links on this page will load, and the internet would fail to connect to any website at all after that. The only way to reestablish the wireless connection was to restart my computer.

    I write for the community of firefox instead of my computer manufacturer, because this problem exists only with Firefox. Loading these pages in internet explore is not a problem, nor wifi is disconnected after loading with IE.

    I am currently using Windows 10.

    I tried troubleshooting my wifi connection when it happened, but nothing has changed.
    I tried to reset my router. I tried different times of the day to connect. I tried to uninstall the antivirus software. I tried to disable my Add - ons. Nothing has changed the situation.

    Help!

    In the meantime I'm use IE unfortunately.

    If you use extensions (Firefox, Tools/menu key > Modules > Extensions) which can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery, blurry) then make sure that these extensions are not blocking content.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox, Tools/menu key > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox, Tools/menu key > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

  • Change to that new IMac extended journaled extended logged out?

    My old IMac extended journaled case-sensitive so that you're stretched out the new journaled.  When I try to use the migration wizard, it fails due to different formats.  How can I reformat my computer and extended journaled case-sensitive?  Because it's the startup disk, the operation fails.  I partitioned the drive into 2 parts and did the second case-sensitive partition.  How can I transfer the boot spread in the second partition and then I should be able to remake the first partition?

    Make a clone bootable from the hard drive to start the second partition partition, delete and clone then back to the boot partition.

    When I read the news online of the journal and then close the tab and go to my office, I have a poster advertising WSOP. I would like to avoid this.

    There are sites that open an ad in a window behind the current window, which I think is commonly called a pop-under ad, but which is essentially a pop up window.

    Firefox allows websites to open windows pop up in response to certain actions, such as the click and double click. The browser does not check the content of the window.

    To block the more aggressive, you might consider using an extension of the type Adblock Plus and its add-on battling pop up. (I do not use those myself, and you may have to make exceptions for some sites so that they work properly).

  • On the website of the Wall Street Journal, I am not able to print to the print format. Never had a problem before with this.

    I click on the print icon in an article in the Wall Street Journal. A new window opens with the article in print. When I print, I get blank pages paginated, matching the length of the article. Corner of the page is displayed on the top left the title of the article; angle will appear on the top right, the web address of the article; on the lower left corner will appear the pagination; and on the lower right corner will be the date and time of printing. It's just how any article would print; the only difference is that I do not get the content of the printed article.
    It started only a couple of days. I don't have this problem with other publications, but this problem does not exist with other browsers.

    In case you have changed the default Page Setup scaled, make sure that shrink Print CheckBox is enabled before running the printable page.

    3 pages includes number of words to display as a menu item in the view menu:

    The County appears at the bottom left of the page and it shows more options when you click on it. Unfortunately, "number of lines" is not included in the available options:

    If you had ' 09 Pages on your Mac and did not intentionally removed it when you installed 5 Pages, it will always be there, in a folder named iWork ' 09, in your Applications folder.

    Copy your document, open the Pages ' 09 and paste the contents of your document into a word processor new document in Pages ' 09.

    Check that the end of the document is delivered on the same page (number) and to the same position on this page as in the original and making small changes at the margin to adjust it if necessary.

    Then go to edit > tools > statistics to see this more comprehensive report:

    Note that if you need to present the newspaper article in one format other than a file of Pages, the number of rows may change due to changes in the conversion to the new format of formatting.

    If you don't have a Pages ' 09, you can get a number of lines using tools > line numbers in OpenOffice or LibreOfficeApache. Both are applications open source, free to download and use (even if you might donate help the future evolution of the demand). The links will take you to their respective Web sites.

    Oh... One more thing (as long as Steve jobs used to say sometimes): pages (3), go (menu) Pages > provide pages of comments and make a feature request so that the line count (and line numbering) added the capability of 3 Pages.
