Restart OMSA on ESXi 5.1 7.1

We loaded OMSA 7.1 for ESXi on our VMWare hosts.  We connect using OpenManage on another machine and "managing a remote node.

OMSA on the VMWare host no longer from time to time, but he always comes back with a reboot of the host.  I think it may be the tomcat server as Dell OM Essentials still seems SNMP messages.

I do not want to restart the whole army for OMSA to run again.

Anyone know how to check if the OMSA services are running on the host computer and how those who do not have to restart?

Thank you.

I was on the phone with Dell's VMWare support last night and they have answered my question.

Here restarts all the services management and worked for us.

restart the /sbin/services.sh

  • 8.3 OMSA @ ESXi 6.0 U2 @ R515-> cannot log into the website OMSA to ESXi HOST.--

    Hello guys.

I've updated my ESXi of U3 5.0 to 6.0 U2 and I lost my OMSA. I can not connect from the web page.

For the update of the host, I used this ISO file:
    . VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.0.0.update02-3620759.x86_64-Dell_Customized-A00.iso

After that, I installed OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-WINX64-8.3.0-1908_A00. EXE to a VM W2012S to this host. I can open the web site to connect, but when I try to connect to my ESXi HOST, I received this message: failed to connect... connection error.

When I saw that I began to check a few things, I ran: 'list of vib software esxcli' and I saw:

Here, my doubt is that is above the order was withdrawn in Server ESXi or how? some body can clarify my doubts.

  • VM doesn't qutoboot upward after the restart of the ESXi host

    Hi all

I environment, there is only a single Cluster. The Cluster has an ESXi host. all virtual machines including vCenter VM are resides on the ESXi host. When I reboot the host can all VM does not start?

For comparison, there is a different environment, there are two Clusters (Cluster 1 and Cluster 2) in vCenter, Cluster 1 has two hosts ESXi Cluster 2 has only a single ESXi host. vCenter runs on the ESXi host residing in Cluster1.

When I reboot the host residing in Cluster2, all virtual machines may start automatically.

is that any expert can explain the difference? Why single environment can auto boot VMs when both of these environment has a host to the Cluster and cluster activate HA service?

environments are executed at the ESX5.5.

You will need to check the box allow VMS to start and stop automatically with the host system and then change the setting on the edit tab, and mention what needs to be done for each machine.

  • Remote restart ESXi 3.5 u4

    Hello

We lack ESXi 3.5 u4 in a production environment, and so far it's been solid. I would like to make the administration of the House and I've been searching the net all day, but have not yet found the answer. What I'm trying to achieve is:

    1. stopped our VMs

    2. distance of the ESXi Server

    3 restart our VMs

Now I can VPN into work and the use of the VIC to stop the virtual machines that is no problem but how do I restart the server ESXi does? I don't see an option in the VIC, unless I'm being blind. I have to use the remote CLI? I installed, nix and windows, but have failed to find what I need to know.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    moifmurphy wrote:

Can you right click on the name of your ESXi server and select "reboot"?  I do not have my ESXi server turned on right now, but the option appears for ESX.

If you are missing the option, perhaps you log in VIC with the user account do not have the necessary permissions.  Try to login as 'root '.

  • Dell OpenManage, ESXi 5.1 & reconstruction of bays RAID online

I am owner of a Dell PowerEdge T420 with ESXi 5.1 installed and I was wondering if it is possible to rebuild a RAID array without having to restart the server.

I was under the assumption that the use of Dell OpenManage running on Windows Server together with the Dell OMSA VIB would allow management of virtual disks when the system is online.

I am able to see the State of health of the RAID via OpenManage arrays, but can't seem to perform management of tables.

I was mistaken in that assumption?

    Jmartincic,

You can simply reinstall the failed drive to start a regeneration. In the OMSA with ESXi graphical user interface, it's only a tool of surveillance. You cannot trigger something from him, although only with regard to the controller.

  • Restarting the management agents

I need to restart the management agents on ESXi infrastructure vSphere 5.5 5.5 Server member.

The procedure I am considering is described on page restart on an ESXi or ESX host management agents (1003490) | VMware KB .

I can safely send suggested orders:

    restart the /etc/init.d/hostd
    restart the /etc/init.d/vpxa

on a production server without creatibng no problem to run virtual machines?

Is there anything else I should before issuiong commands?

    Concerning

    Marius

Yes, in normal circumstances, with the exception of these enironments as described in the KB.

It; s also interesting to note that, while these two services are the "main" there are many others and you would need to run another command in the KB to restart all the. What is the problem that you are experiencing that required you to restart management services?

  • How can I reinstall / store data recovery an ESXi 4.1 lost during an upgrade to 5.5?

I was running a host of ESXi 4.1 on a Dell T110 II with two RAID, a managed arrays by the controller integrated RAID that contained the system of ESXi and a small data store (channel) and the other controlled by a 6405e Adaptec controller which contained my main data store (BunkerHill). In the process of upgrading from 4.1 to ESXi 5.5, I forgot to include the drivers for the Adaptec 6405e controller and even if the upgrade of the host, he did not see the BunkerHill data store.

I downloaded and installed the VIB for the controller 6405e and after restart the host ESXi 5.5 shows the Adaptec RAID under storage adapters, but the BunkerHill data store is still not visible and all virtual machines guests appearing on this show as unknown in the inventory. The channel data store and two invited VMS it holds are visible. Below a part of the kernel log is filtered on the RAID controller device name.

I would like to get the recognizable BunkerHill data store before continuing the upgrade and would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction (KB article, display, etc. that explains what I do). I need to reinstall 4.1 on the work of RAID (ESXi 5.5 and channel data bank) and then trying to reconnect the main data store, or are there changes I can do from the console to manually get the market things?

    Tips are appreciated,

    Thank you

  • Add Teddy after installing ESXi 5

    Hello

Can we add physical ESXi Server NETWORK card after we have installed ESXi 5 in the box? ESXi 5 will detect new physical network cards?

I have a lab at home at home with a beefy server that I have VMware workstation 8 installed top.

I created 7 VMs to be also my ESXi servers, a domain controller and a server vCenter Server (all virtual machines)

My original for ESXi virtual machines configuration had 8 NIC in them for doing tests. (especially dVS)

After VM 4th, ESXi, I forgot to add NICs while I was creating the virtual and installed ESXi machine with only 1 nic card.

After you add the esxi in my vcenter, I recognized my mistake. So I stop the ESXi and added 7 NICs more.

My assumption was after the restart of the ESXi, new network cards will be detected. But apparently not.

I know that I have not hit any maximum rates in my VMware workstation 8 because in ESXi6 and ESXi7, I remembered to add NIC cards prior to installation, and I can see them in my vCenter Server.

What Miss me? Is it because the ESXi are nested or even in the physical environment if I add NICs, they will not be detected after reboot?

I'm sure that this was not the case in vSphere 4.

    Thank you

    Hello

perhaps rather E1000 vNIC you added the VMXNET card? I have this same setup as the yours, and each time when I add a new vNIC to my virtual ESXi detects the new adapter

  • Hostops.pl restart error

Using the vSphere CLI, try to restart a standalone ESXi host vSphere. Calling the script hostops.pl to restart and get an error. The argument that I use is:

    hostops.pl - line server 1.

    End of disconnect"

I confirm that this isn't my connection settings that I can put the host in and out of maintenance mode using hostops. When I run with the stop argument operation - I get the same error.

Any ideas? I do not know Perl, but I guess he's trying to report an error while running hostops, script buggy?

The script is really buggy, there are a few things to look at:

    (1) is your host already in maintenance mode?

    (2) even if there is an option to force , IRRC, VMware is not implemented the code for actually allow you to force a shutdown/restart

    (3) If you take a look through the options, there is an additional parameter that is required, called target_host, I think you used host instead which is incorrect.

  • ESXi Passthrough disorder

    Hello

So I tried activating the relay for an external USB device. Now, I can't UN-configure the passthrough devices.

    The steps I took were:

    1. Enable the USB ports in vSphere client under Configuration - & gt; Advanced settings, and then check each box USB

    2. Connected the USB device

    3. Open the machine virtual and added a USB controller

    4. Restarted the server ESXi

Rebot took 20-30 minutes and made the VM do not seem to see any USB device, so I decided to remove the configuration, are the steps that I took:

    1. Stop the virtual machine, I tried to add the trundle for decision-making

    2. Edited settings and removed the USB controller

    3. Reboot the machine virtual and checked the Device Manager

    4. Stop the virtual machine

    5. disabled USB ports in vSphere client under Configuration - & gt; Advanced settings and then unchecking each box USB

    6. Restarted the server ESXi

Passthrough devices are always checked that whenever I do it, and start time are always very slow (20-30 minutes). Any advice on the steps I can take to remove configured pull-out decision would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear you have it worked.   I've set up some notes on the resolution of this problem.  It's a little late for your situation, but I hope it will help others who find themselves in the same boat - http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/VMDirectPath/fix_config_issues.php.

  • vCenter Agent will not start - ESXi 4

    Hi all

New install ESXi 4 on a Dell 2850.  Try to get VMware Infrastructure to connect to the ESXi 4 server and no luck.  Looking at the configuration of services running on the ESXi 4 server in the security profiles, the VMware vCenter Agent service does not run.  Try to start the service and get an error of "error during the configuration of the host:  Tried to restart the server ESXi, no luck.  A virtual machine installed on it, seems to work otherwise.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Marty

Using Vmware Infrastructure Client 2.5.0 and VMware VirtualCenter 2.5.0

So you are you using VC 2.5 and FORMER client.

You need NEW VC and the NEW vSphere Client.

  • ESXi using ~ 2 GB of RAM without any virtual machines?

I've been troubleshooting for awhile now and try to see if someone can get ideas...

I have a test server (2.5 GB of ram, 3 GHz intel p4) and I got successfully intalled ESXi.  I also have 3 virtual machines one at a time.  Each running windows server 2003 and has 256 MB of ram assigned.

So, now that I got this that until now I can't even start the three servers at the same time do to the memory being allocated more.

I did a fresh restart of the esxi server and have noticed that it uses nearly 2 GB of ram before I have even power on all virtual machines?

Any idea what causes this?  I have a test server separate esxi with very similar conifguration and it consumes 2-300 MB of ram on first boot until I turn on virtual machines.  Thanks in advance!
