Restarting the management agents
I need to restart the management agents on ESXi infrastructure vSphere 5.5 5.5 Server member.
The procedure I am considering is described on page restart on an ESXi or ESX host management agents (1003490) | VMware KB .
I can safely send suggested orders:
restart the /etc/init.d/hostd
restart the /etc/init.d/vpxa
on a production server without creatibng no problem to run virtual machines?
Is there anything else I should before issuiong commands?
Concerning
Marius
Yes, in normal circumstances, with the exception of these enironments as described in the KB.
It; s also interesting to note that, while these two services are the "main" there are many others and you would need to run another command in the KB to restart all the. What is the problem that you are experiencing that required you to restart management services?

Restart the Management Agents + ESXi
Is it possible to restart the Management Agents in ESXi from a method of SDK or cmd - left?
As far as I know, vmware-vpxa service is the Agent of VMware vCenter. Management agents are the mgmt-vmware service which you cannot restart (yet) with PowerCLI.

Unfortunately, we must restart management on our HP ML350 G6 agents almost once a week (unable to connect with VSphere client more, customers are works well).
We know this Article -: restart on an ESX or ESXi Server management agents
and this article useful: http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/ESXi_restart_agents.php
How can we avoid the ESXi 4.1 command /sbin/services.sh restart will restart our execution of virtual machines (guests) as well?
(Our first test shows: it restarts the guests, but it is sure, or just happy coincidence?)
According to the second article linked:
... This will restart the agents installed in /etc/init.d/ and with a default installation that includes: pass, ntpd, sfcbd, sfcbd-watchdog, slpd and wsmand. He is aalso restarting the agent VMware HA (AAM) if that has been activated on the host...
Each of the agents of this is responsible for our virtual computer operation invited?
Do we ensure "auto start/stop" to each virtual machine too (as written in "Attention" on the first linked article)?
I think it was on ESX 3.5 U3 corected. In any case, this happened only if you autostart enabled for VMS - the ability of ESX Server to boot VMs when it starts itself. If you do not need, leave it disabled.
Each of the agents of this is responsible for our virtual computer operation invited?
Not at all. Virtual machines running in a very low level of the VMkernel. Even if you lose the COS (which is your main problem here - you should check it...) the VMs will still work.

The Management Agent is not configured correctly. How should I do?
Hello
We have a number of constraints to exploit our SGD server:
- SGC is not connected to the internet.
- We do not have a user of the host, or a tunnel ssh configured.
I sent an agent manually using agentDeploy.sh, but I encountered a problem with the stage of the officer course (I had the wrong password).
The deployment of the agent stopped there. So, I went to ensure the agent manually.
However, I see that I have no plugins installed. I continued as another deployment, , but it's where I reached my limit::./emcli deploy_plugin_on_agent -agent_names="pdbhost01.company.net:3872" -plugin="oracle.sysman.db" Prerequisites check failed For agent : https://pdbhost01.company.net:3872/emd/main/ The Management Agent is not configured properly. The required host target is not found.
I was wondering if it was possible to:
- Continue the configuration of the agent: what would the step set up the target host?
- Re-install the agent: what should I do to uninstall it, since I can't do OEM?
Thank you.
You are right. SGD is installed correctly.
We have installed a RAC recently and I'm working on obtaining controlled put up for her.It took me some time to find the document to help me with this particular problem. It comes to keywords!
That's what helped me to goback on track:
EM 12: Plugin on the deployment Agent of reports 'Agent is incorrectly configured. Requested property not found. "(Doc ID 1541823.1)
I can a little more that necessary, since these steps, I deleted then deleted repository of the WHO agent_inst agent and ran emcli with the Configonly option. As follows:
$
/sysman/install/agentDeploy.sh AGENT_BASE_DIR = OMS_HOST = EM_UPLOAD_PORT = AGENT_REGISTRATION_PASSWORD 14511 example.com = 2bornot2b - configOnly Thank you for your response and time ODatabse_Guy.

Logging.XML file resets after you restart the managed server
Hi all
I modified the logging.xml file because I implemented a Logger. But ADF custom after you restart the server, SOA, logging.xml file get automatically back to the unmodified state, all this means that I modified was not.
Am I missing something?
Please suggest!
Kind regards
ShahHi Shah
In the EPS group, usually there is a set of Configuration files are synchronized to all of AdminServer breaks the run. A simple example is like file config.xml and some files of data sources, files, ldap, etc. Whenever we reboot the Soa or bam managed servers, they go to AdminServer and obtain a copy of these files. So, if you make any changes directly on the managed server computers, then can be is getting crushed when you restart the servers. Check the timestamp of all these files. Make the changes on the side means Admin on the machine where you have AdminServer running. If all goes well, soa/bam should get these files at startup.Thank you

vSphere 4.1 how to start management agents via powercli
Hello, I created the powershell script to 'enable Remote Tec Support (SSH)' and set the auto strategy
If I head start-vmhostservice then I get a warning in vcenter client\host\sumary tab "from Configuration Mode Tec Support remotely (SSH) for the host as hostname has been turn on" how to remove the message is to restart the management agents... so I would like to add this step as part of the script.
Can you point me in the right direction?
You've probably done one
/sbin/services.sh restart
on the console of SUpport?
This in fact the warning go away.
But with the Restart-VMHostService cmdlet, you can use the following services:
Key Label Policy Running Required --- ----- ------ ------- -------- DCUI Direct Console UI on True False TSM Local Tech Support off False False TSM-SSH Remote Tech Support (SSH) automatic True False lbtd lbtd on True False lsassd Local Security Authenticati... off False False lwiod I/O Redirector (Active Dire... off True False netlogond Network Login Server (Activ... off True False ntpd NTP Daemon automatic True False vmware-vpxa VMware vCenter Agent on True False
While the services.sh script restarts the following services
/etc/init.d/ntpd /etc/init.d/DCUI /etc/init.d/TSM-SSH /etc/init.d/storageRM /etc/init.d/vprobed /etc/init.d/sensord /etc/init.d/hostd /etc/init.d/lbtd /etc/init.d/slpd /etc/opt/init.d/vmware-vpxa /etc/init.d/usbarbitrator /etc/init.d/sfcbd /etc/init.d/sfcbd-watchdog
And I'm afraid this is one of the services that you can not manipulate PowerCLI that did the trick.
Note that this difference is not a problem of PowerCLI since the underlying HostServiceSystem also has this limitation.

Manually restart the Dell OMSA ESX agents
Hello
Recently, I installed a server Dell OpenManage Essentials to monitor my ESX 5.0U1 hosts. I installed the VIB 7.1 via the Update Manager and everything was fine. I could detect and identify the hosts to OME and troubleshooting tool I could connect via WSMAN and retrieve all the details of the server. I also had the successfully servers send traps snmp on the server of the OME.
I didn't watch it all for a few weeks but noticed this morning that the OME server could no longer see any servers ESX and WSMAN wouldn't connect. I want to restart the services/agents of dell on the ESX host computers without restarting the computer, but do not know the CLI commands. Could someone please.
THX
I was on the phone with Dell's VMWare support last night for just this question.
Here restarts all the services management and worked for us.
We do not MOE, but OMSA on connections to remote VMWare host management is no longer accepted. The following fixed it without a reboot of the host.
restart the /sbin/services.sh

How do I restart the network management via SSH?
How can I go on the reboot of the management network via SSH? Or can I still do. I don't mean services.sh reboot, I need the network management not the management agents.
Any help is appreciated.
What version of esxi do you use?
If you type
> dcui
You can control the ESXi in the medium dcui@ssh and restart your agents in there

Restart Management Agents... now does not
Hi guys
I had to do some troubleshooting and recommendations I restarted management agents (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1003490( )
To restart the management on the ESX host agents:
Mgmt-vmware restart the service.
service vmware-vpxa restart.
but after that my host is red and shows does not and all the VMs disconnected say system...
How can I recover it?
Thank you very much
This is normal and should recover in a few minutes. You should always be able to connect to your guests and the host without any problem. Restart management agents to disconnect and reconnect the host and VM on and in the inventory.

vRealize management of endpoint operation 6.1 - integration with vCenter Management Agent
Hello
Previously, where Hyperic has been installed as a stand-alone installation, we may enter vCenter and configure the Management Agent and perform the installation directly from the vCenter client. It was particularly interesting in the case of installation of vRA and so on. I tried something similar release 6.1 vROPS following that Hyperic has replaced. Any who have been able to do this work? Or does anyone know if this is supported?
Thank you!
Hello
I believe that you intend to vRealize Navigator Infrastructure that had a Web Client vSphere and VAPP plugin which has helped distance the Hyperic agent deployment. WINE currently cannot be used for the deployment of the endpoint operations officers.

The cluster Agent installation does not ask for password Agent
Hi all
I try to install configure the management agent on a few nodes of the RAC on Windows Server 2003 64-bit. I installed the agent on other hosts before, but not on clusters. Installation seems to be pretty simple, YES the other nodes automatically detects and installs on them. However, when I do the installation of cluster, I am never invited to the agent registration page register with the administration server. He's asking the host name of the server and port, but never the password. Then the agent installs and starts the service, he is never seen by the administration server.
Has anyone encountered this before? Is it possible to save it now, or should I just try to reinstall manually? This is an expected on windows cluster behavior, registration of the agent will not be asked.
Once the user installation must ensure the agent on each node manually by emctl sure agent\bin -
12 c on the repository server management agent does not start due to a failure of the system
My environment architecture for 12 c Cloud Control (used for the purpose of personal practice) can be explained as follows:
@DBSERVER: (OEL6.5, x 86-64)
-12 c Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (EMCC)
-Database 11.2.0.4 which acts as a repository for 12 c EMCC
Monitored host is on a virtual machine (VM12) which is currently in the DBSERVER:
VM12: (OEL6.5, x 86-64)
-12 c Management Agent which monitors host and database (12.1.0.1)
The server worked fine for months until recently when the computer has restarted abruptly. Abrupt restart has occurred several times in the past, but this time, he had a problem when restarting. The DBSERVER when a startup starts the SGC and the AGENT. WHO starts perfectly, but the AGENT does not start. On trying to start the agent, it displays the following error message:
[orcl11204g@dbserver bin] $. / emctl start agent

Starting Agent... failed.

See emctl.log and emagent.nohup in: / home/u01/oemrel3/agent/agent_inst/sysman/log

The targets.xml file contains the following information, which do not seem to be of any help:
[orcl11204g@dbserver emd] $ cat targets.xml
<? XML version = "1.0"? >
<>targets
< / objectives >
[orcl11204g@dbserver emd] $
Anyone can provide assistance in such circumstances?
The DBSERVER repository database, the auditor and the who are running, while the agent is down. VM12, listener and agent database is running. Is there another file that should be checked for more information?
--> $/ AGENT_INST/bin/emctl stop agent
If the agent does not stop is free then kill all the background process agent first grepping for agent perl and java process only
--> Move your existing target.xml file
MV target.xml target.xml.old
--> Create an empty file targets.xml under/AGENT_INST/sysman/MDTs with the below content
--> Start the agent of
$AGENT_INST/bin/emctl start agent
That starts agent but without all the targets in targets.xml
To the discovery of targets saw agent console resynchronization
