Restore partially faded colors

Hi all

I'm trying to restore a photo color dating back to 1988. The color change is kind of 'typical' of photographs of the early eighties. The color disappeared not evenly, but in the two main points. About 40% of the surface, the coloring is very good, but on 60 percent, ago intense redness as you can see from the attached part of photography.

I use Photoshop CC to restore photography. I'm completely n00b to photohopping so I ask your opinion here.

I scanned the photo and created the RED channel with fuzzy edges mask, the mask looks like stains from color-faded on photography. I tried to adapt the coloration in the hidden area to match the image, but without success. I should probably hide the blue and green channel too and adjust all?

I would be grateful if someone could give some suggestions or point to a practical guide to the example. And please do not judge too big, I am beginner on photoshop.

What about what you want?

I used the color balance and a black and white gradient on the mask. I also used curves to adjust the values of R, G and B, as well as a few other adjustment layers. If that's what you want to do, I'll do a little video showing how I did it.

Using this photo for the cover of the album, as you can see the upper left corner is partially faded.  I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction on how to get the nice colors and even from top to bottom.

    Thank you!!

    Hello

It is really no more than a little attention in dodging a burn and mix with curves. If Mohit links do not work for you, I can explain how do so, if you wish, but its fairly well covered on YouTube.

This image does not yellow-orange on my side. It seems that we have a color management problem going on here. Have you had your screen calibrated? Do you know what profile is connected to your monitor (or if a customer one has been created due to the calibration)? What you have in your color settings from the Edit menu? You have proof colors enabled in the View menu?

  • Why my photos are printed after work in photoshop to come our with faded color?

I am on a Mac with Maverick, using Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 5. I make a portrait of 24 people and need to combine several photos to obtain a finished product attractive. I move my photos from Lightroom in Photoshop using the mask layers have been combining photos. When I transfer to JPEG and send them to a printer, they come out with a look of faded color. I am at my whits end trying to understand what I am doing wrong. Nobody knows what the solution to this frustrating problem?

As you can see, gator and I write similar things.  Maybe we were writing our answers at the same time, without the advantage of seeing the other, or your past answers.  It's the nature of the forums, sometimes.  In any case, two different explanations of the same thing can't hurt.

You are a beginner in LR and PS edition have 16-bit ProPhotoRGB documents, and those that should be converted to 8-bit sRGB to send to an outside entity or even for download on the web.  To do this, you can use LR or PS.

It was you needed flatten your document and convert to 8 bits before a save in format JPG, but apparently PS - CC allows you do save slot without any of the two, nowadays, that's why you have never had to do.  So the only thing required from you is to convert the color space, and you didn't know you had to until you've seen your impressions and has asked about it, here.

Save as you dialog box shows the color space that you save, so you can check every time, and he must say sRGB, unless your printer has told you to use something else and you have indicated in your download you use something else outside sRGB.  I expect that almost everywhere these days, expect sRGB, though may have a way to specify a special profile for the particular paper you print on and in this case, you will have download a printer paper-profile and convert to that instead of sRGB.  You can see the details of this in a book or a video.

I use LR for all my images and only PS for some more complex situations, so I always reimport on LR to PS and use LR to produce all the JPGs to a printer, because many of them have no need to go to PS at all.

Now, you have understood how to convert sRGB, or do you need more?

  • Restore the Vista color scheme

original title: my Windows Vista window color to go and how do I restore it?

My Windows Vista color scheme disappeared from my computer. To turn on my laptop this morning, I realized my taskbar has been a gray flat Strip and my previously round start button was a small rectangle. By clicking on the Start button, revealed my menus for the menus 2D without inspiration, that I remembered from earlier operating systems. I right click on the desktop, click on 'Customize', 'window color and appearance' and checked the color schemes in the "Appearance settings" dialog box He registered "Windows standard" Windows classic"and four high-contrast patterns. It does not, however, list Windows Vista. Now, I'm getting a little reached cognitive as I get older, but I'm sure that Windows Vista was listed as a color scheme this area the last time I looked. A quick check confirmed that, in all other respects, I am always under Vista Home Premium. Only the color scheme, transparencies, etc. seem to be affected. I remember doing nothing that should have an effect on my color schemes. Someone has an idea why my laptop would suddenly lose its color scheme of Windows Vista, and more importantly, how do I get it back?

You also see "Windows Aero"? It should be at the top of the list. If so, select it, and then click APPLY. Wait for it to change. > click OK when done change Windows Aero.
Now click on "window color and appearance", you will see the back color palette.

  • (HAVE or PS) Faded colors when recording in opening in PS & AI

So I'm not exactly a pro here and still learning about my free time so my knowledge of some of the terms could be really limited. I redid a Logo in illustrator (he Retraced, adding borders, etc.) and recorded. However, I noticed that when I open the same file in Photoshop, some of the connection faded colours. Most notable are the blacks. I do have to duplicate the layer and set it to overlay to get the desired matte black, I'll do. Below you can see an example. The left side, that's how it opens in photoshop and the right side is the sweet black "BOLD". Why he did this and what should I do to correct this. I use the most recent versions of Photoshop and Illustrator. I'm also on a MAC

As a matter side: how reset you your default settings for adobe products, I read that ALT + CMD + SHIFT should do the trick but I still see the same edition of the color settings when I open programs and I'm afraid that Googling for my own solution maybe I changed something I shouldn't have and I want to start with a 'clean' palette

Thanks in advance for your help and your time!

  • Faded colors on Windows 7

Hello, today I'm normally using my pc until I turned off for a few hours sleep a little because I had not slept in throughout the day. Now, I turned on my pc and he had these... weird colors.

Here are some pictures to this topic:

I don't know if you can see it because it's my pc one that downloads but anyway. You will probably notice more if you lower the brightness of the image.

As you can the algo see the icon "Steam" is pixelated and poor quality, some icons are too, 'Network', one for example.

What should I do? Please, it gets REALLY annoying, I tried a solution anywhere!

Why this always happen to me? Whenever I have a question of a problem in ANY forum, I set it at random, it makes me look stupid.

For people having this problem, try right click anywhere on your desktop, go to 'Customize', then ' find and fix problems with transparency and other Visual effects. The problem is the color depth has been set too low for some reason any.

  • I lost the standard windows color scheme on my windows 7 Home Basic. How can I restore it?

My windows 7 standard colors suddenly lost after I used the quick heal PC tuner. I adjust my PC several times before, but this never happened. Now the list of system colors shows that the conventional windows and four high-contrast themes. My color palette is set to the classic look. Is it possible to restore my standard color scheme? I am using windows 7 Home Basic and I keep the windows updates turned off because my network connection is a bit slow.

I would open a system restore (type 'restore' in your Start menu search box to find it) and come back in until you have used the program to heal.  System restore only takes 2 minutes and not lose any of your files (it only restores system files and the registry settings).

And concise consider a Pro, never use all programs 'tune up '.  Trust me.  You wouldn't believe how much I earn people charging to address what's going on.  Windows is robust and takes care of himself these days.
  • Restoration of a historical chart

I have this old map since the beginning of the 1940s. It is with slight discoloration and brands of folding.  I'm curious to know is there a way to transform the original other than the method I used. I expanded the section by section to dig into areas expanded and simply used sampling of stamp clone of areas adjacent to the lines, fading to transform the graph. I present here scaled-down of the original and my ongoing efforts.

I think now there are tools other than the concealer and especially cloning tool.

Thanks for any insight in this project.

1 minute of work with the range of color and conversion of a layer mask selection:

    1) select-> color range and set the preview of the selection for "Matt White".

    2) click on the background (choose an average background color, not dark spots). Invert the selection (click on the checkbox)

    3) go to "strong Points". Tasks disappear.

    4) click OK

    (5) apply the selection as a layer mask. (you may need to convert the background to a normal layer by layer double-clicking it first)

    (6) Optional: convert the smart object layer, and add the black and white adjustment layer. Then use a black brush to restore areas of color (circles).

  • wrong color retouched photo

I want to use this picture for a website, but the logo's pantone blue in it and it does not, but the photo corresponding to the overall theme.  There are 2 things wrong with this picture.  One is it is dimmed on the upper part and the other is I'd like colors to change steel blue, indigo, red, roses or violets instead of warm tones. I love the warm tones but it does not match with the logo.   My question is where should I start?  I have to use the moving dotted line?  What else? Is it possible to add in the image, which has been used in output?  I don't know where is the original photo.   There was a brochure made but the artist kept the originals.  It may be photo galleries, but I don't know where.  There is another question if you download photos of photos of the reserve aren't JPEG?  You don't need to start with a photoshop file?  You can't really resize a jpeg image.  Any advice would be appreciated.

How did you get the photograph? When it comes to restore the faded area I think it would be e better to get the photographer's original file and start from there.

How can I go about restoring these icons to the specific previous image?

Why change your desktop icons?  This is not normal.

The most I've ever had to do was to kill the Finder and let it restart.
