Restore to an earlier Date

I have a HP Pavilion slimline desktop computer. I got a virus. What I have to restore the entire computer or can I just restore to earlier as a day or two before the computer has been infected? Or should I just restore the entire computer.

Hey David,

I downloaded the first name of the rescue disk. He finds the virus and I delete but I have to start windows, it was still there. So I just restored the entire computer. Thank you for all the information that you have provided me.

    Hi wetmartinia,

    1. do you have security software installed on the computer?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    3. you receive an error with the message code?

    Method 1

In many cases software security installed on your computer may interfere with the process of restoration of the system on the computer.

I suggest that you disable the security software on the computer and then perform the system restore, check if it works.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If the previous step fails, then view the event logs to investigate System Restore service errors, post back with the details.

    (a) click Start, click run, type eventvwr.msc/s in the Open box, and then press ENTER.

    (b) click on the category System .

    (c) click the Source tab to sort by name, and then look for "sr" or "srservice." Double-click each of these services and then evaluate the event description for any indication of the cause of the problem.

  • I can't get my system to restore to an earlier date no matter how far back I go.

Any date I select this option to restore, I always get the message that my system does not restore to an earlier date. I tried all the ideas based on knowledge, but in vain. I am logged on as administrator and run the AVG anti-virus.

    Gunner02,
Here are a few articles that cover the system restore issues and information.  Some antivirus programs will be in the path of the system restore feature and might not work.  I would say the first tent to create a restore manually point and check that it creates correctly.  If it isn't then I turn off\on the system restore (This erases all previous restore points) and create a new restore point and test.
If the problem persists then you will want to remove AVG, and test the system restore function.

    Ruez,

As John said, I hope you have the PP preferences setting activated automatic backup of your project. I have my projects PP saved automatically every 10 minutes, and I put a maximum amount of keep 100 automatically backup project versions. They are, at least with me, usually in very small files of only a few KB to a few MD in size. You can then go into your "Adobe first Pro Auto-Save" folder and simply click on the previous version of the project that you want to roll back again. And it opens again as your project work in PP and you can simply continue. (When you start a new project of PP always ask you where you want to store your 'Auto Save project', at the bottom of the tab "disk zero".) In this folder you need to go see what is there.

  • I deleted by mistake the pic files, ran sys restore from an earlier date, always missing, suggestions

try to burn photos to a cd, pic files deleted by mistake, can not find all the files. has a restored system since 2 days earlier (point), files are still left, they are not in the trash. anyway I can find/restore the photo files?

Hi and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, the system restore does not monitor and/or backup of personal data. This is left to the user. It only back - up system files. However, your photos can probably be recovered using Recuva from Piriform, the creators of Ccleaner. Stop using the computer NOW. The more you use it, more files will be overwritten and destroyed. When you use Recuva to recover the files don't be a noob.  Read the help text. It is because they know how to use their software. If your system has a logic or slave drive put the files recovered on it, or if you have an external one that works as well. Chances of recovery improve drastically by placing the recovered files on one drive other than the one they were deleted on.  The link below is the portable version, it does not settle. It is a stand-alone application. This will also help since you're not going to install software.

  • I want to do a "System Restore" at an earlier date than when I did a "System Restore Point"; How can I realize this "System Restore" to a date that is earlier than the "System Restore Point"?

I am running a version of Microsoft "Vista." I want to do a "System Restore" to a date earlier than the 'Restore Point System' which is steeped in external memory of my terminal (and apparently in memory of boarding school of the terminal).  The terminal shows only the "System Restore Point" that I had introduced manually; How replace this erroneous 'system Resote Date Point' so that I can get rid of things that I wish were not included in the drive of my terminal?  Specifically, the "Ready Boost" option has ruined my terminal memory drive; That's why I want to get rid of with a "restoration of memory", but there is no other precedents "System Restore" options.

    Hello

You will be able to perform a system restore to a restore point created or present on the system. If you have no restore point created before the questions, then you will not be able to restore it.

  • Create a fist to restore to an earlier date

original title: How do I make my computer upward point Date 09/10/09? I have windows vista and deleted files and would like to return to the 2009-10.

I went to the system protection, clicked on the system protection tab, you click on create and it would only today. Help, please!

You cannot create a restore point for the latest dates, but you may have one already created for you by your system and you can check. To start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, click System Restore, (wait until it happens it is slow) click on choose a different restore point, click Next. Put a checkmark in the box at the bottom left to see all your restore points. I hope you can find the one you need.

  • A few bookmarks do not show so I asked to restore (in the menu bookmark)-now all disappeared. What files are stored bookmarks in (in the system) so I can use time machine to restore from an earlier date?

I do a lot of work on the web and I have a ton of bookmarks that I use to maintain sites. I lost all!

I tried to install a new copy of the program and restore the file Mozilla from the library to the user (in time machine), but all I have is a white space where was the bookmarks bar! I also have a problem trying to re-enter manually all bookmarks. I can open the bookmark drop down, but I can't save all bookmarks. Firefox don't mark all new pages. I still all the passwords in the preferences if I don't want to install a new copy of the program and lose these.

Are there other system files that Firefox uses that I can restore the backup to solve the problem?
I have a Mac Pro and I am OSX 10.6.4
I have used Firefox for years and never had a problem before.
    Can anyone help - please?

This may be a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

I want to uninstall XP service pack 3 using one of four methods recommended by Microsoft. Once uninstalled that I will then be able to use the system restore to an earlier date that was running on service pack 2?

Try to return to the last config known that ATI Catalyst had installed, since the upgrade to SP3 is no longer will install catalyst. SP3 may or may not be the cause of this, but I want to restore to earlier date that was running under SP2.
