Retrieve info of preference and site Dreamweaver 3, the end of the migration towards cs5.5 on Windows XP

I had a hard drive crash in windows xp and have reinstalled windows xp and dreamweaver 3.  I have a backup of all my files in dreamweaver 3, from the old machine, for example & sitename.dws, & sitename Changed.txt & sitename Live.dws, sitename Changed.txt.  I would have all my preferences, ftp, restored etc info but could not find any documentation on how to do this in Dreamweaver 3.

I tried to replace the following files with the backup versions:

C:\Progam Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver3\Configuration\SiteCache

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver3\Configuration\SourceFormat.txt

as these are the only files I've seen which seemed to have been edited using Dreamweaver on the XP machine before the drive failure.

Is there any Dreamweaver 3 documentation on the preference files names, site files and how to replace the default install files with backup versions?

Any help is sincerely appreciated that I was not able to understand it on my own.  I considered just replace all the DW install files with my backup, but that would probably spoil the registry and I can't chance that.

Ultimately I've move into CS5.5 - if ever I my backup the information in my newly installed Dreamweaver 3, is there a way to migrate these preferences, the site info, etc. to CS5.5?

The 'Put' creates a subdirectory in the file root on the host computer.

This means that your site definition is not correct.  The path to your local root folder should point in the directory "hostsave.  In other words, hostsave directory * IS * your local root folder.  That being the case, it should not appear in your panel of DW files when you connect to the local site EXCEPT on the very high-end.  It should not appear in any link in any file in the site.  The definition of remote site should just be www.example.com for your remote FTP server and the directory of the host must be "web".

Who should you get.
