Retrieving old messages from a previous results of the machine in missing files

De : AndyGz

I tried to retrieve e-mail from an old hard drive (Windows Vista Home o/s on the old and new PC) and asked the old hard drive on my new PC as a secondary HARD drive.

I opened the previous Windows Mail program to find my old messages, but he was able to start and when I went back to my current Windows Mail application, there is no message or folder I created. That there are very important
emails, that I need to get them back, because they must always be on the HARD drive somewhere?

What has become of messaging and records in my new account Windows Mail which disappeared after I tried to open the old mail app?

When you tried to run the old Windows Mail, it corrupted probably a few pointers to the new message store.

Search in C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local dossiers\

Try first import (Windows Mail 7). If this fails for some reason, try to drag & drop.

    Hello

    1. do you receive this after you see Start button or entry?

2 have you made any changes to the computer before the show?

Method 1: Boot errors are fixed by the clean boot.

Perform the clean boot and see if that helps.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

Reference: How to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: when you're done to diagnose, follow step 7 in the article to start on normal startup.

Method 2: Some malware parody itself as InfoCenter.exe, especially when it is located in the folder c:\windows or c:\windows\system32.

I suggest you make a system full scan just to be sure.

Here is a link that will give you information on how to perform a full scan of the system:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

, Note 1: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note 2: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

These messages are never true. Microsoft does not have lotteries, and
    Microsoft does not send e-mails.

It is a complete scam. Do not respond to it.

  • Retrieving text messages from blackBerry Smartphones

Hello, I received a text message on 5 Feb 13 that appears in my list with a small green envelope. I put my phone to keep the texts for two weeks. Is it possible to retrieve this message before it disappears entirely? Pls let me know!

    Kind regards

Hello and welcome to the community!

I'm confused, given what you have said (for example, "before it can disappear"), is not the message already disappeared from your BB? There is no "deleted items", "trash", or the 'trash' on a BB... container once removed from the device, disappeared forever from the device.

In any event the only way to recover deleted items is if you have a source where to get them. I.e. after having been, while the issue was on the BB, make some backup procedures that would backup the element to Protect BB, your computer or any other source you can support up to. If you weren't, at that time, perform backups, then there is no source for retrieving the item, and it is gone for good.

    Good luck!

    Hello

It certainly seems that if your PC has some malware on it.  Also if you have Microsoft Security Essentials and McAfee installed, they will interfere with each other.  Follow the process below first, before anything else.

Download and install the free version of MBAM and SUPERAntiSpyware on the links below.

    MBAM

    SUPERAntiSpyware

When it is installed, run full scans with these two utilities.

After returning with the results of the foregoing analysis and details about other software security you have installed on the PC.

I don't use any anti-virus or anti-spyware, except Windows Defender.

I suspect that you see the effects of a hijackware infection. Since you have no applications installed virus protection (and, I suppose, you have not installed in Windows XP is), my recommendation is the following:

Backup of personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then do a format and clean install of Windows XP.  (Because you upgraded from Windows XP to Win7, you can not do a clean install of Win7.) Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

    CF. http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html#steps

Once installed the clean, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or a network otherwise and before using a USB key that is not brand new, or has not been freshly formatted:

  • Is it possible to retrieve e-mails from an Outlook Express to the new computer running Windows Live Mail somehow.

Original title: transfer emails to new computer

Pls is it possible to somehow retrieve the emails from an Outlook Express account on a broken computer to transfer to my new computer which runs Windows Live Mail or do I need to get the old computer fixed? Thank you very much

You are welcome. If you can get the files from hard drive accessible, here's what you need to know.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

V-2011/2012: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP the OE User (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
