Reuse my Vista license key

Hello

I have been buying new HP laptop and it comes with genuine Windows Vista Home Premium. Then I have a free upgrade to Windows 7 with a new product key. And the question is can I use my old Windows Vista on my computer one another?

Thank you.

N °

You already use the Vista upgrade license to Windows 7.
Without Vista being installed, you can legally put in Windows 7.

One license = one Installation

  • Recovery CD comes with Vista license key?

    Hello world

New to the forum so hope you will have patience with me.
I am looking to buy a satellite pro P200-1KD once.
I want to dual boot it with XP.

I have the CD to install XP and VIsta, but would need a Vista the license to install on the new laptop key. (I already have one for XP)
I know that the phone comes with a Vista recovery CD, but my question is, does it come with a license key?

I don't know if I can use the dual-boot recovery CD as I suspect that it will use all of the drive for Vista.

    Any help would be appreciated.

On the Toshiba Recovery CD, you can find the image of Toshiba. Toshiba image contains the OS (Vista in your case), Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.
The recovery CD is not the same as a Microsoft OS CD to the original address and the Vista on the Toshiba Recovery CD is already activated.

By the way; The OEM key (which activates the Vista on Toshima image) cannot be used with other, different Vista OS. It will not work.

  • Satellite A300 - question about Vista license key

    Hi all,

I bought an A300-149 with preinstalled Vista.
One of my friends told me, the partition that was used to install Vista is not useful, it consumes space from my HARD drive, so I deleted the partition and rearranged the partitions that I was going to use them.

I just found out it's a big mistake to do that, because the contained all partition drivers and Vista with the license key.
I'm losing my windows license, if I eventually have to reinstall it? (I have the label on the underside of the computer with the key...)
I can not download the content of this partition (in the form of an ISO standard) somewhere in this site? (and use the key to the label, as it is usually done with the software)

I paid for this OS... so I don't understand why I have not received a DVD with the software? (When I opened the box, I was looking for the DVD and I wandered why he is missing...)
    It's frustrating...

    Waiting for your answers,
    Thank you

    Hello

It's really stupid situation now, but certainly not frustrating.
Here a few facts to better understand:

New Toshiba laptops are delivered without recovery DVD and images of recovery is recorded on the second partition. All of us must create own recovery media. To do this, this Toshiba has designed little tool called creator of Toshiba recovery disc. With this tool, you can create recovery recovery CD and DVD. When you have these media you can do with the data you want. To install Vista over these media must be used.

So many people may forget or simply ignore it. Because of this Toshiba has designed reminder with the trace message:

Because of this, Toshiba has designed little reminder that will be shown in short time after first start with track contents:

    * Important INFORMATION *.

    * your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need repair *.
    * your computer in the restaurant to original factory State, you can do it directly *.
    * from the HDD (press F8 when you start your computer, choose 'Repair your computer' *)
    * and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a bootable recovery for this fin.* drive carrier

    * Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator" to *.
    * ensure hat you are able to restore your computer to the factory installed state, even if your computer is severely damaged.*

    I can't imagine you didn t see.
In any case, your friend probably has no idea how it works, and now you have a problem.
To be honest you have no problem, but the additional costs. You can order the following original Toshiba disk link given by Akuma, but you must pay for it.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Laptop computer with Vista license key, XP, want to update.

I bought a used laptop that had a strange version of Frankensteined of Windows 2000/XP/Vista. I don't know what was going on with this but the BONE is not hardcore, and I had to do a fresh install of XP. The problem is that I can't get my hands on a valid install disc, so XP doesn't really work for me.

The laptop has a license key for Vista, so I guess it's the os that is installed on it. The license key is still valid? I'm hoping to be able to install or upgrade to (if possible) Vista, so that the thingimajig Validation of Windows stops to mess up my computer and I can get all the necessary updates.

Call the manufacturer of your laptop to see if they will provide the recovery discs, usually that they will, for a small fee

  • How can I get a Vista license key?

I have a laptop that is unbootable. It's 'term' with the viruses and malware at a standstill. I slaved the drive on another machine and cleaned, but now it does not even start. I would now just need to recharge the laptop provided with my CD to my vista operating system.  The problem is that the sticker on the bottom of the laptop has some numbers rubbed off on it and is no longer legible. (Probably from sitting on my lap while using the laptop) Anyway I still have the hard disk with the data.

I said that it will never be supported by Microsoft.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

  • Running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit from an OEM installation. Can I reuse the license key I have to install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit?

We have several computers at work that use 32-bit versions of Windows 7 Professional. We must move to 64-bit in order to use more memory. If I have a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit disc can I install the 64 bit version and reuse install the license key for the 32 bit version. I was told Yes as long it's the oem disc. I don't know what that means exactly. What is an OEM drive and why I he would have if the oem of Windows versions usually installed when the computer is initially being built. Thanks for the help guys!

Yes, you can use the same product key to activate the 64-bit version. You may need to reactivate but by telephone.

It doesn't have to be an OEM drive. As long as it matches the edition you are installing.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    Hello

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

That you have installed Windows 7, I don't think not that it would be always available.

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

Ask them to send you a set of recovery disc for your model computer reinstall the operating system to how it was when new.

When activating my windows vista ultimate product, I get the response that the license key is already in use, let me know how to solve this problem?

    KiranS Hello,

Judging by your post, it seems that Microsoft had technical problems when you tried to activate your copy of Vista by phone. Have you tried phoning the line Activation again?

The normal procedure is that if the activation fails through the automated system, the call is transferred to a real person. It is the only available option if you get the error 'use existing product key'.

I can only suggest that you try again the activation by phone and see what happens.

  • The disk (with no key) installed Vista Home Premium, and the license key OEM is for... Home Basic!

    I recently did a clean install with the disc that came with my Dell XPS6400 (bought in the auction) local computer, which had only "Vista 32bits" written on it and no product key.  I thought I could use the key on the sticker on the underside of the computer OEM license, even if the 2 characters in the 3rd section were partially missing - they had to be one of the other four.  When OEM license was initially considered valid, I realized that I had not yet downloaded a service pack, but after that, he was still to come as being invalid!  Then, I found that the version of Vista that was on the disc was "Home Premium" and the OEM for "Home Basic" license key  Do I have to reinstall the whole system, drivers, etc., in order to establish the upgrade?  (Please say "NO", there is an easier way to do this!    Here's the MGADiag. -I hope it helps.  :-}

  • Inroom A300 - license key of Vista for recovery

I have laptop Toshiba Satellite A300.

Key sticker is damaged and if I don't have a full license key.
At first, I changed the structure of partition and I lost the partition with the windows (installation package) image.

I need to reinstall the system and by the way I'll change system 64-bit architecture (I don't know why but the 32-bit system was preinstalled on 64-bit laptop computer).
I have the DVD with the system, but without the license key, I can't do anything.

I spoke to Microsoft technical support and they directed me to Toshiba because Toshiba has bought the license from Microsoft and Toshiba only knew what key has been assigned to my laptop.

Microsoft representative also said that Toshiba was forced (by some agreement) provide the buyer with license key assigned to cell specific.

Toshiba is not representatives in Poland - they closed the Polish Office recently.
Anyone know how I can contact Toshiba effectively?

    Best regards

    > I need to reinstall the system and by the way I'll change system 64-bit architecture (I don't know why but the 32-bit system was preinstalled on 64-bit laptop computer).

If you want to move from 32-bit system to 64-bit system, you must purchase the disc with the Windows System.
Laptop Toshiba computers are preinstalled with Toshiba picture (this isn't support only Windows OS). The image of Toshiba contains the Windows operating system, Toshiba, Toshiba software driver, tool, utility, and 3rd party software. The system in this image is already activated and there is no serial for activation key. The key to series that you found at the bottom of the device belongs to the OEM version and it does not work under the other system.

If you need to reinstall this image of Toshiba and don t have the recovery media (you can create this DVD in the past using Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator pre-installed software) you can order it here:
