I replaced the 2 hard drives mirrored on my PowerEdge R805 recently, with the new series of HDD 1 TB SAS for a higher volume, configured as Raid 1 (200 GB for a partition system; 800 GB for the data partition). Subsequently, I needed slot in the old hard to recover some documents from them, but the machine can't see them. Can someone show me how I can make the server recognize the old hard drives? The old hard disks are size of 500 GB, configured in Raid 1 (100 GB for the system partition; 400 GB for the data partition).

You can challenge it-go in the RAID properties and activate the table.

so, in the POST... intercept the keys CTRL + c prompt. Select Properties adapter - then raid - you should see the two VDs, if the original will be 'inactive' you simply activate the table.

-I moved several data discovering VDs SAS6iR controllers... It is possible entrrely.

  • PowerEdge R805 - Replaceable HD hot

    I have a PowerEdge R805, which shows a lack of HD (E1810).

What is the best way to determine if the drives are hot-swappable?

There are two (2) disks on the server - I guess they are mirrored and replaced once the mirror will be rebuilt automatically.

They are.  If the disks are on a bottom of basket and accessible from the front of the machine, they are exchangeable hot.  Hot disks are the only option on a R805.

As a general rule, the reader will rebuild automatically, but if not, then you must assign as a hot spare to start reconstruction.

There is no POST messages or errors on the LCD screen.

Do only some models of support R805 (different motherboard numbers) opteron hexacore platform? The R805 problem came with 2 x Quad-Core AMD Opteron 2360 SE of chips.

A new mother Board of review can go in aversion 1 chassis?

Yes, all revisions will work in each chassis. All revisions are retro-compatible, so if you install a newer Board everything should continue to work normally. If you install an old Board, then it could cause problems.

  • 5.1 E30931 POS could not launch a backup

    Hello

I have a problem with backups of POS.

Yesterday, I rebooted my server ESXi and my SAN. We use Dell PowerEdge R805 2 x for the hosts and a Dell PowerVault MD3000i SAN.

Because we are changing to a PowerVault MD3600i, I unplugged some cables iSCSI (while the server was closed). Now, each host is connected with 1 single cable iSCSI SAN.

After launching the servers, everything worked very well, wait for backups of POS.

POS displays the following error message:

E30931 could not start a backup or restore of a virtual machine because no proxy has been found to maintain the virtual machine

Unfortunately I have not found something about this error, so I hope someone here can help me!

My understanding of the error >

POS has 8 proxy backup internally, making the backup. Unfortunately, the poxies are not initialized in your case.

Have you tried to reboot the device?

Could someone please let me know why the reboot is happening?

You can also drop in the newspapers of the host-d and/or information provided by a dump of support?

My suspicion is that you can have something material related current. Have you checked the hardware section of the cilent VI or the HP tools?

  • More older PowerEdge 2650 has been accepted, in the search of Windows 2000 Server to install.

Hello and thank you for reading this note.  First time poster here. Please excuse the bad post...

I was given a Dell PowerEdge 2650 (dual Xeon), which has been deleted.  There is a license sticker on top for Windows 2000 Server..., but this product is no longer available from Dell.  Technical support proposed contacting Microsoft about the availability of an installation CD.

I've been wandering the Microsoft site to research to find out where to contact (e-mail, phone, Mail US?) about this... and turn to this group for assistance.

    Who should I contact?

    Your time is appreciated.

Hi guys, I am trying to install a new card Lacie esata PCI card (http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=11217) on windows server 2003 on Dell poweredge T410. Windows detects the card and install the driver, but then, it shows an error code 10 "device Can not not started. • PowerEdge 2900 switchable hot

I have a Dell PowerEdge 2900 running windows Small Business SERVER 2003, we will be taken out of service soon, but we just had a departure by car to go bad - seeing yellow flashes and error on LCD server message: 'E1 H10 HDD1 fault.'   daily backups and weekly regular running properly because of corruption, then I copied the table as a security measure.  I bought a new drive identical to the 4 existing disks that are configured as Raid 1.

    The drive is a:
    341-4430 750 GB 7.2 K rpm Universal SATA 3Gbps 3.5-inch hard drive

    The raid controller is:
    341-5754 1 SAS/SATA embedded RAID 1, PERC 6 / i integrated/SAS6/iR

Can I leave the server running and pull the wrong drive and drag the new, without running applications before or after this procedure, and will be automatically rebuild the raid?

I know that I need to replace the server.  But my immediate need is to solve the problem of bad disc, and I'd appreciate any advice or a link to the instructions in this procedure.

We are a small non-profit and have none of the staff and no budget assistance, or I would have called in help.

    Thank you

It is a Dell application that will interface directly with the hardware. It must be installed on any Dell server that you manage. On the downloads page, it is called OpenManage Server Administrator - Managed Node, use the 32-bit version.

  • Which network interface is linked to a 1000th PowerEdge iDRAC?

I have a PowerEdge server 1000th with a bunch of blades plugged and there also * six * M6220 ethernet passes over it.

I have configured each server so that it has a separate IP address of each switch of the following subnets:

    A1 - Public IPs (111.222.333 *, for example)

    A2 - private IP address (* 192.168.10)

    B1 - private IP address (* 192.168.20)

    B2 - private IP address (* 192.168.30)

    C1 - private IP address (* 192.168.40)

    C2 - private IP address (* 192.168.50)

Each server can ping any other server on any B B six IP addresses (so that they can all 'see' each other on all interfaces of contactors.

In addition, the CMC interface has a public IP address, and it is connected to the A1 (the public IP switch) switch.

Now, when I want to use the interface of the iDRAC (for access, for example, the console to one of the servers), it works * fine * (which means that I can't the user a browser on one blade to access the console of the iDRAC of any * other * blade) if I attribute public IP to the iDRAC interfaces. However, if I assign an address from any of the * private * subnets (because my public IP is rare), I'm not able to reach the iDRAC console.

IDRAC interfaces are only related to A1 or something, or is there a reason why I shouldn't be able to reach them through other switches?

So it seems that the iDRAC facilities use the physical interface on the CMC, not on any of the modules A1 - C2 network. Although this interface was connected to our network public IP (with our A1 network interface), I was able to avoid public IP with our iDRAC interfaces by issuing IP aliases private A1 interfaces on our blades.

  • Internal hard drive inside Dell PowerEdge R710

Well then clarify first of all. This server is NOT used in a business environment. Its literally being used as a home media server (Yes, exaggerated way I know but I got for free so who is complaining).

IM currently using a PowerEdge 2950 as my media server, I just took his upgrade, a R710 Gen 2 and I would like to use all 6 bays at the front for hard drives that I can put the plates on instead of 1 for the operating system and then everything else for the media.

How I would go about installing an internal hard drive, preferably a SSD, inside the R710. I know it has a free SATA port but I can't seem to see the spare power cables or cables molex as there is in the Gen 3 2950 I.

If it is not possible, it's quite good, but I would like to have installed an internal hard drive.

I know there is a USB port, but I use Windows Server R2 2012 (probably soon to be Server 2016) but I'm not sure if Windows Server can be installed on the internal USB port.

If you need to record, or on the label of service I can give you this information.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Arron

Thanks for the clarification. It's something that you can try, but it is not supported and there is no guarantee that the SSD will be detected and it works perfectly. Try this P/N GP700 cable
