  • Is there a way to remove the icons on my desktop without deleting the associated files when right-clicking on the icon does not offer this option?

Most of the icons that appear on my desk I have download the new application files can be removed without uninstall or remove related files.  But when I right click on the icons that appeared after reinstalling Panda Internet Security and download of Adobe Reader software to date there is no option to remove the icon, there is rather a prompt asking you if I'm sure I want to move the file to the trash - which I did not.  When I look at 'properties', I see that the location for the two is my office.  I'm trying to reduce the visual clutter, is it possible to do?

    Hello

Click right icon - properties - general tab - Type of file - if it is a LNK then it's only a
Shortcut and if you DELETE it then only it is removed and the underlying program is not
affected. To see where the program check the tab shortcut - target:.

If she is not a LNK and is a. EXE, com, bat and others so if if you delete the file
(which is not a shortcut) and then the program will not work. Shortcuts usually have ARROWS
on them in the lower left corner.

For programs that are stand-a-lone (were copied on the desktop and not installed) you
can make files elsewhere and copy them (and other parts such as.) DLL or. CFG
only as examples and some will have no other room) to then remove them from the
Desktop computer. If you have any programs that were installed on the desktop, you need to uninstall
them and their re - install elsewhere.

    I hope this helps.

  • Restore My Documents on the submenu when I right click on an icon

I have a VISTA operating system.  When I want to send a file in My Documents, I right-click on the icon (e.g. Word) and the submenu ' send to ' appears, but miss me the My Documents item. He was there as well as the recipient of the message etc.

HOW TO RESTORE THIS ITEM IN THE SUBMENU?

This was copied from http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/98/1/How-to-Add-Items-to-the-Send-To-Menu-in-Windows-Vista.html , and is just what you need in order to add the Documents item or any other item that you want (you should add and not my Documents because My Documents is not a real file - it is a junction point - and should not be viewed or changed in any way or you can create problems in your system).  My Documents has been used by XP, but it is now called Documents in Vista.  The old My Documents in Vista is there only for backward for compatibility for programs produced before Vista or where programmes have not caught up with changes in system (even fairly recent programs).  If you are using XP I'm not sure these procedures (or those provided bv Spirit that go well beyond what you asked but good information however)) won't work because the two systems are very different at this level - case can't even try * just after back or better yet just go on the Forums of XP for the support to the : http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsxp...

Adding items to the send to menu

The menu send to in Windows Vista contains the following by default:

    • Compressed (zipped) folder
    • Desktop (create shortcut)
    • Documents (NOTE: don't forget yours isn't already here before you add another - it should be and I don't know why he disappeared)
    • Fax recipient
    • Recipient of the message
    • Floppy drive (if present in the system)
    • Discs DVD-RW/CD-RW (If it is present in the system)

To add a destination to the send menu, you must add a shortcut to the SendTo folder. To do this, follow these steps:

    • Click on the Start button and one of the two commands below, type in the search box:

    Shell: sendto

    -or-

    %AppData%\microsoft\windows\sendto

    • Press ENTER. SendTo folder of your user profile opens.
    • On the file menu, click new, and then click shortcut.
    • Follow the instructions in the wizard create a shortcut and create a shortcut to your favorite program. A new shortcut is created in the SendTo folder, and it is displayed on the send to menu.
    • Repeat the last three steps for eah element to add.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Since the installation of 4.0.1 I can't do a right-click on the icon in my taskbar and have Firefox give me the option "close and save" tabs. Only let's me know, I'm about to close several tabs. How to make 'save & close' return?

Before installing 4.0.1 I could right click on the Firefox icon in the task bar of my computer and press on the window. He would then give me the option to "save the tabs and exit" or "close all tabs".
Now he comes and tells me I'm going to close several tabs.

It was convenient to be able to close Firefox and open it with all the tabs in place. There is nothing more annoying than to have several tabs lost because your computer has is an update of the day overnight and restarted. It is also useful when you want to run a tun - up or cleaner who asked that closing your browser for best results.

How to make 'save and exit' return?

    Thank you

Firefox stores now always the old session, and you can access it by going to the history menu and selecting "restore previous Session."

If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
    2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    3. Find browser.tabs.warnOnClosepreference, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
    4. Repeat this for 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, the browser.warnOnRestart and the browser.showQuitWarning

If you always open the last set of tabs, another approach is the following:

    1. Click on the orange button Firefox, then select options to open the options window
    2. Go to the general Panel
    3. Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "show my windows and tabs from last time '.
  • When I'm on my Web site home page, if I right click on the icon of firefox on the dock (iMac) it shows "Mozilla Firefox" instead of the name of my site.

So, if I'm on another site, for example newsnow.co.uk, if I right click on the Firefox icon in the dock, it shows "newsnow.co.uk" as one of the pages opened in Firefox.

But for my site, it just shows, "Mozilla Firefox". However, if I do the same with Safari, the page is referred to as the full name of my site.

Why Firefox isn't doing the same thing? My apologies if this is a silly question: I am a bit stuck!

    Best wishes

    James.

I'm sure that you can easily add a < title > for that and your other pages, and it will improve the way they appear in the results of search engines as well. In the absence of a title, for example, Google will just improvise something on the structure and the prevalence of the words on the page, which is not always what you want visitors to see on the results page.

  • The Manager of the tasks only displays "complete the process" Panel without tab or click on and can only be closed by right clicking on the icon of cpu in the task bar.

  • Make a right click on the desktop icon generates the error

Besides, right-clicking on any icon in Windows Explorer, open the same window "Microsoft... has encountered a problem and needs to close." Looks like the registry, or something, is corrupt.

ShellExView has been amazing! It took less than 5 minutes to locate and correct the problem. I had on package extensions (40) - found the culpret in the second group of (10). Turns out I've been using Powerdesk (a Dead Ringer for Windows Explorer for maybe 10 years). Disabling the Extension "Powerdesk ZIP" solved the problem. Windows Explorer and PowerDesk (which wasn't too) will work perfectly.

I know not what affects the tell-abling "Powerdesk ZIP Extension" will have, but I can try to install the software - it is possibly corrupt.

    Thank you very much.

  • Right click on the taskbar Windows XP and auto-hide is now missing as an option

Original title: when a right click on the taskbar programs

After right-clicking on program icons on the taskbar the separator for other area of the task bar became uneven. There was like a stage that has been created instead of a straight line and the Hide button automatically went. What I was doing was checking to see what programs might be arrested if necessary during a download or install a program.  After that I closed and open then windows the taskbar was back to normal but Autohide disappeared. Auto hide has been giving me problems is not there when windows open at first, but after about an hour 1/2, he appears as usual. It is possible that if you install a program that does not correctly that other functions may be lost even after you uninstall the program?

    Hello

Before you delete the user profile, you can view the article and go further.
How to copy data from a corrupted to a new profile in Windows XP user profile
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/811151
A new user profile will have no corruption of the system. You can create separate accounts for each person who will use the computer. This allows each user to have their own document folders and settings such as the wallpaper, Start menu, visual style, and so on. You can create and configure with the tool user accounts user accounts in Control Panel.
