RMAN block recovery

Hello

I have an Oracle 11 g R2 server and the journal of alerts reported the following

ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # xx, block # xxx)

Yes, I didRMAN> validate check logical database;

And after that on checkingV$ database_block_corruption I found 3 block are corrupt, all 3 are indexes of the index table_space segment_type.

Please let me know what would be the best way to recover the corrupt blocks

Will,RMAN> recover corruption list;  repair the block corruption

Another concern is that the backup of the database doesn't do 'check logical' before doing the backup. Does it mean that the recovery from backup might not work ?

Thanks

No, you need to do both.

The first command handles the bad or blocks

Best regards

    No, recovery average is you have to restore before database/data file according to this time/SNA and
    need to recover this database/data file

    How do I know exact time/scn? where rman can perform recovery...

    You can use rman back catalogue or views of performance Dynamics controlfiles(v$backup_*).

    Or have you tried restore controlfile to 'your_controlfile_backup' command via rman

    It seems that this error occur because of you actually restored controlfile sauvegardΘ but in controlfile are not
    any information on your logs archiving offer you have to catalogue start with "archive_log_location" through rman. After you run this command, please perform recover database and alter database open resetlogs

    Hello

    Reboot server SA will not start server.

    the worst case:

    If SA want to rebuild a new server, reinstall the oracle database, is there docs to show me how to restore/recovery of database using rman of rman backup files in the old server records.

    (we do not catalog rman, just the control file)

    Thank you very much!

    If SA want to rebuild a new server, reinstall the oracle database, is there docs to show me how to restore/recovery of database using rman of rman backup files in the old server records.

    Yes - there are a LOT of docs on the web. Just use your favorite search engine and the search for them. They are EASY to find.

    But the SMARTEST thing would be to find the problem with the original database and fix it.

    Hello

    All by making a TSPITR, do not affect the RMAN channels explicitly. Let the RMAN allocate channel by itself.

  • RMAN incomplete recovery

    Jin
    I use oracle10g (10.2.0.4.0) in windows service pack 2 32-bit. with RMAN, I took a backup of a tablespace. Then, I created a table and the database is closed. Off, I deleted the file data in this table. Now I started the database in the editing phase, started the RMAN. I restored the tablespace by RMAN and then I got to a point where I did not create the table. But the RMAN performs a complete recovery. When I check the table there is always. How is it possible? can someone help me please... I am totally confused.

    Here are the commands I used in the above scenario

    RMAN > BACKUP TABLESPACE USERS (BACKUP 13:00 HRS)

    SQL > CREATE TABLE TEST AS SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEES; (CREATED AT 17:00 HRS)
    SQL > IMMEDIATE SHU

    physically remove the data from the users table space file.

    SQL > STARTUP MOUNT

    RMAN > CONNECT TARGET SYS/password

    RMAN > RESTORE TABLESPACE USERS

    RMAN >RECOVER DATAFILE 4 until time ' to_date ('2010-11-23 16:00 ',' ' YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS) "

    SQL > ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS (DISPLAYS AN ERROR THAT RESETLOG CAN SE DO AFTER INCOMPLETE RECOVERY)

    SQL > ALTER DATABASE OPEN

    SQL > SELECT * FROM TEST (THE TABLE EXISTS)

    Please tell me what is wrong in the above scenario? I use wrong queries?

    Thanks in advance

    You cannot recover a Tablespace (or Datafile) to a point in time that is not consistent with the rest of the database, unless you use an auxiliary Instance. TSPITR (TablespacePointInTimeRecovery) uses an Auxiilary Instance where SYSTEM, UNDO and the required storage space are recovered to the point passed in time without affecting the current instance of the current database. The tablespace can then transported the auxiliary to the active database instance - you can have RMAN automatically do this but, personally, I would manually.

  • RMAN restore/recovery

    Is it possible to restore a RMAN full backup on a different/db machine?

    I have a DB of Prod (800 f) running 10.2.0.4 and launch the RMAN backup strategy. I am to perform full backups on tape and need to prove that the backups are viable for the restoration. The problem I have is that I can't do any test on the Prod db. My original plan was to create a tablespace and a data file - get the rman backup, delete the data file and restore from the backup. I'm not allowed to do this simple test, while he was susggested we use RMAN to recover from Prod backup set to a different database on another server. Is it still possible? I proved functionaly RMAN can restore in a test environment, but management wants to prove we can restore/recovery of data from production wo affecting primary production of db.

  • RMAN backup recovery

    Hi all

    11.2.0.3.11

    AIX6

    I have a script that runs every hour to recover the application archivelogs manual script database. What happened if accidentally, I run the script twice?

    RMAN control not to execute the order to duplicate 2nd, and will it hold or mark error him?

    For example:

    I have a script recover.exe, scheduled cron to run every hour and apply the manual standby db logs. (non-dataguard).

    But as the archive logs are too many, it was not completed in time, and the next restarted cron process, duplication of the race.

    Now, there are two batch process, applying archive logs. What will happen to our database?

    Thank you

    MK

    It depends on how you scripted operations. What happens if you have hardcoded the archivelogs to apply list and the execution-error?  The next execution generates the correct list.

    If you don't have not hardcoded the list, but allow Oracle to identify the archivelogs, it should be ok.

    Here's my rman backup script configuration and rman.
    Because of size constraints I save my logs to archive by rman and delete.
    I wanted to know if it was possible to go at a certain time using these archiving logs.
    ex: -.
    Racing script at 10:00 in the evening daily say it ran on March 1 and March 2, to 22:00, if I want to recover until 14:00 on March 2, will be March 2 backup enough or I'll need March 1 backup and archive logs until 14:00 for which I need to physcially archive backup logs daily , with rman.
    RUN
    {
      ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch1 DEVICE TYPE DISK;
      ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch2 DEVICE TYPE DISK;
      ALLOCATE CHANNEL ch3 DEVICE TYPE DISK;
      BACKUP DATABASE INCLUDE CURRENT CONTROLFILE format 'G:\Oracle\flash_recovery_area\TEST\BACKUPSET\tmp\rman_backup\df_%d_%s_%p_%T';
      DELETE NOPROMPT OBSOLETE;
      SQL "ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT";
      BACKUP ARCHIVELOG ALL DELETE INPUT format 'G:\Oracle\flash_recovery_area\TEST\BACKUPSET\tmp\rman_backup\arc_%d_%s_%p_%T';

    }
    RMAN configuration parameters for database with db_unique_name TEST are:
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 1;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF; # default
    CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 'G:\Oracle\flash
    _recovery_area\TEST\BACKUPSET\tmp\RMAN_BACKUP\CTL_%F';
    CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 1 BACKUP TYPE TO BACKUPSET; # default
    CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
    CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
    CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION FOR DATABASE OFF; # default
    CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM 'AES128'; # default
    CONFIGURE COMPRESSION ALGORITHM 'BASIC' AS OF RELEASE 'DEFAULT' OPTIMIZE FOR LOA
    D TRUE ; # default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE; # default
    CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO 'C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\11.2.0\DBHOME_1\DATABA
    SE\SNCFTEST.ORA'; # default

    Hello;

    RMAN> startup mount
    RMAN> restore database until time "to_date('02-MAR-2013 09:00:00', dd-mon-rrrr hh24:mi:ss')";
    RMAN> recover database;
    RMAN> alter database open;

    Best regards

  • Question of ditch RMAN restore/recovery

    Hi all, so here's my situation.

    I have two database servers, both running 10.2.0.1 SE on RHEL 4. One is the primary database, and the second is a standby mode. Since it's SE and given there guard is not available, the primary database has archive_lag_target value 30 minutes. The standby database is in a mounted State, and a cron job runs every 30 minutes which catalogues the primary archivelogs and does a recovery of the database to apply the archivelogs. This means that the database pending is to to more than 30 minutes behind the primary.

    The other night, the primary database server hung and restarted on its own to almost 450 h, and the last filled archivelog reached about 441 h, (sequence #52113). When the principal server has increased once again, we have tried to launch database errors, but recovered, ora-600/7445 database corruption, so we decided to wait. The last archivelog seq # 52113, has been applied on the eve and passed on the eve of the operations.

    The day before is now last up to 441 hours. As the primary database server is stopped at 450 pm, is there a way to always retrieve the changes between 441 pm and 450 MP? If I do a restore/recovery using the backup, the database that results would not be recovered at the same time/scn as data watches, namely the #52113 seq?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Yes you can.

    But be careful you've got errors ora-600/7445, so contacts with the support of oracle first.

  • headers block (block media recovery with rman)

    Hi Im following this tutorial (sound on media with rman block recovery) - im using 11 GR 2 on oel 5.5

    http://kamranagayev.WordPress.com/2010/03/18/RMAN-video-tutorial-series-performing-block-media-recovery-with-RMAN/

    I created 2 spaces and storage within an array, for example I have a table space called "users02", composed of a data file called "users02.dbf", which currently holds a table called "tbl_test01".

    If I query the table to select * from him, he returns the data inside, but when I use the following statement to determine the block header (for the purpose of the tutorial) no row is returned...
    select header_block from dba_segments where segmemt_name='tbl_test01';
    can someone help me on hwo I can find the header of the table,... is block - it possible that segment name is different in the name of the table?

    Any help would be appreciated

    PLS, try:

    While I was able to retrieve the blocks with RMAN; My concern is now the long term effects and what is the cause? Also, trying to find a more permanent solution and not to block recovery every 2 weeks.

    Advisor? What should I look for?

    Thank you

    If it is Windows 2008 chances are that you have probably not ASM. Good luck to pick up a few Oracle then

    I would certainly come from SAs for some assistance, they should be able to spot something at a lower level / side storage, have an audit of the PDF file & run the dbv and validate.
