Run the vCO as a different user

Hello

is it possible/plug to run the vCenter Orchestrator Service not supported as SYSTEM account, but as a different user (Administrator)?

If Yes, is this account that is also used for system calls in workflows (execute commands, for example)?

See you soon,.

Joerg

According to vCenter Orchestrator documentation, to run and use Orchestrator, you must use a local system account for the computer on which is installed Orchestrator.

See this link (page 19): http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vco_410_install_config_guide.pdf

Best wishes / Saludos

  • Run the Workflow as a specific user

    Hello world

My English is not great, so I'm sorry for the typos, I'll do.

I have a little problem with the management of rights in vCenter Orchestrator. I just created a new environment Orchestrator. I created the workflow a bit like for example to stop or restart virtual machines. My problem is that I don't want all users to be able to manage each VMs. To realize that I need configure the Orchestrator to use a single session per user. Then I set the permissions on the server vCenter Server. Which works very well.

Know that I created another workflow that clone of an existing virtual machine. But as the Orchestrator uses a single session per user, vCO users do not have sufficient rights to clone a virtual machine. This is because I would like to run the cloning-workflow to run as another user. I already discovered "credentials of change" - Action, but know the users do not have sufficient rights to change credentials. I won't give them administrator rights, at least until they are able to change the workflow by using the Orchestrator Client.

So I tried to restrict access using Client Orchestrator. But this also seems to be impossible without denying web access. Now I'm stuck. Is there any solution for this?

    Thank you very much.

OK, I just did the test on my side so I understand better what is happening.

It seems that the admin should be just defined the workflow approval and each parent to the root of the change. It's admin roles give the right to create / modify / delete.

I think it's the same situation that you are experiencing.

A work around would be to use the firewall block the vCO for different hosts data port that the server of vCO and maybe your admin workstation.

Maybe another would be to program an original workflow workflow (to test, it can work as system).

  • Run the package to a different schema

    Hi all

I have a very strange (at least for me) problem with a package to run in the production environment.

The package has been installed in the application schema and in the same schema for all tables that are in the same table.

The customer reported a slowdown in the performance of it, but if I test it in my PR env and:

-If I run the application outside of the package, it run very fast

-If I install the package in my personal schema and run it, it run very fast

-If I run the package, installed on the application's schema, is very slow!

What is the difference between these three methods?

    Thank you in advance,

    Diego

-package to the user of the application-> very slow

OK - but that the above code does not recover. All this shows is a call to the procedure who, do you think, does that open the cursor.

Once a cursor is opened the procedure who opened it has NO control over it. Only the session making the recovery is involved as is an Oracle process on the backend. But the procedure/package is NOT involved.

If the location of the package does NOT affect actual recovery, but it can affect the execution plan used when the cursor is opened first.

New - when you say "run the code" you tell fetch data? Or are you talking about just open the cursor as the example above shows?

Display actual execution plan - get it from a trace file, if you need to.

other things to say is that the number of lines to get out are some ten years.

The question is always this THAT IS SLOW? It is the RECOVERY of these lines "a few ten at most? Or is it just open the cursor so that you can begin to pick up?

  • Two users on the same PC. How to run the application even for two users at the same time?

    Hello friends,

I have two user accounts on my pc. Is it possible to run the same application (for example: DEFRAG or disc cleanup utlities) for two users at the same time? I mean, these utlilities work by all of the computer or user account? That would mean the same application to perform for a single user in the background and foreground to the user, or I'm totally lost in space?

    Thank you for your comments

You should run Disk Cleanup in each user account. Do not try to shut it down or change user when defragmentation; system files may be damaged. You must stop the defragmentation, log off, restart the defragmentation and don't really no point for it. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • With XP, with is three different user accounts, possible to download Firefox 4 for a single user and keep Firefox 3 on the other, for a period of learning?

We are running XP and have 3 different user desktop accounts. We are very excited about the features of Firefox4, but one user a lot less comfortable with changes and does not want to lose the comfort of navigation in 3 until it had a chance to get used to using 4. May take a while...

Is it possible to download Firefox 4, perhaps to a new location. Or a new user account. And use that as a "teaching tool" while maintaining the 3?

Or can we move on 4, re-download a version 3 and import previous bookmarks for this user to new 3 download, until we him uncomfortable.

The answer is probably not. But if there is a creative way to do that, without another available computer, that would be great. Otherwise, improve us and deal with the frustration and whining here... 4 is too good to pass up.

    Ideas?
    Linda

When you install Firefox 4, choose the custom installation option and change the install location of Firefox. You'll then 2 versions of Firefox are installed.

As you have different user accounts, each user will have its own Firefox profile (location where are stored bookmarks, passwords, etc.). You should not pass between the different versions of Firefox with the same user profile. For those who want to use Firefox 4, make sure that you use a Firefox shortcut that opens Firefox 4, even for one who wants to stay with Firefox 3, just keep their shortened origin of Firefox and it should open the old version.

  • Is it possible to run the command script with user account administrator rights?

Is it possible to run the command script with administrator user account rights means please tell me how to...

I need to run it in windows 7 professional service pack 1.

There are a few myths that won't go away, for example

    • You can perform administrative tasks when you are working from a command prompt.
    • A script (batch file, VBScript, PowerShell) gives you administrative rights.

There is no substance to a myth. Your account has administrator privileges, or it does not. There is no backdoor.

  • Broken links to the network shared folders by users

    Hello

Several people here at my office working on files work InDesign InDesign files with links to the image on a network share file store.

If a person links, the next person to work on the page, on another workstation, but access to the same network, there are all broken links and will have to repeat all - sometimes quite painful if the images are not all in one folder; You must navigate each involved folder and find the file in question.

Rarely, this happened in CS2, but is happening now quite frequently in CS4. What has changed? And why is it so difficult to re - tying things now? It seemed that when we could not link something new in CS2, it gave you a little help. For example if you were re-login to a given file, if you navigated to the appropriate folder, you will find the file already highlighted. No more, it seems.

If something has changed in the way that InDesign maintains links?

How can I avoid that links broken all the time? Is there a quicker way of restoring links?

    Thank you

Assuming you're on Mac: what you see in the Finder may differ from the actual path of the Unix.

A possible cause is that if you get the same volume of different user accounts, reboot just to fix it.

Another cause is an empty folder in the Volumes folder, delete to fix.

To check, drag the image into the web browser. The URL can show variations in the volume name, as one '-' appearing in annex 1.

You can also take a look at the links, low link info panel. The 'path' value must be enabled.

  • How to mount the afp share with two different users

I use Terminal to mount three actions of my SIN.  I want to mount a mount point in my user folder.  One of the actions has a user name and password, so that the other two mount as a guest.  I can ride through Finder > to connect to the server without any problem, but this goes to /Volumes and not in my user folder and also indicates the actions on my desk.  I use to get the following:

    mount_afp o nobrowse 'afp://username:password@Servername/Share1' ~/Mount point/folder 1 /.

This example goes up the part properly, but when I run the following command:

    mount_afp o nobrowse 'afp://Servername/Share2/' ~/Mount point/folder 2 /.

    I have the following error:

    mount_afp: AFPMountURL returned error-5023, errno is-5023

This happens if I invert the controls as well, for example to get the comments share first, then the part of the user.

Am I missing something?  I can't get different actions for different credentials?

OS X has no Linux - bind option that allows multiple points of Assembly of nickname for the same file system.

OS X allows a file system mounted only once.

I suggest you get the file normally, system create an OS X Alias, can put copies of this Alias in the account of each use.

And/or create symbolic links that point to the real mount point.

  • Run the workflow - vCO 5.1 API

Hi, I have problems running a Workflow using the new VCO 5.1 RESTful API. Ask yourself if you can help.

I'm trying to run a workflow called "HelloAPI", which simply takes an input parameter 'name', which is then printed to the System.log.

    I get the error message:

    Status code: 400

When you try to run the POST according to the API.

    Open looks like:

    Curl < vco:string > < / vco:string >
    < / vco:parameter >
    < / vco:parameters >
    < / vco:execution - context >

Initially, I had problems because of the Type of content, but was able to solve that by sending in the header. For me, this XML file looks like how the execution context should according to the API documentation. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Steve

    Hi Steve,.

POST-ment to. .. /workflows/ {identifier} / presentation/instances / creates a new run of presentation which is useful if you want to validate input parameters. If you are sure that they are valid (as in your example) you don't need to start running a presentation; You can directly start the workflow runtime.

As I said in my previous answer, your first attempt was almost correct except the curl command line syntax to specify the request file - it should be

    @request.xml d

My problem is that I wish that this batch will be executed using specific credentials. I see that the local SYSTEM user runs the command.
    I tried to:
    -start a workflow as...
    -change in workflow
-Run the "VMware vCenter Orchestrator Server' service windows using the specified account (Journal as).
I would use the API credentials, but I don't really know what to do with it (runas example).

In advance, thank you very much

    Hi, Fred!

As far as I know, it is not possible to change the credentials for the local order :-(.

For me, it worked to run vCO-Service as another user (make sure you change it to vCO, not for the Service Configuration of the vCO ;-))
