Running BitLocker manage-bde cmtlets

What will happen to the computer that do not have BitLocker to activate when run the cmdlets manage-bde?

We have a mixture of computers within the domain with and without permit of BitLocker. These computers are sitting in the same OU.

We seek to grow the startup script GPO to disable the tool to restart system on all computers.

So that BitLocker enabled to stop having to use on every restart recovery key, we run two cmdlets included in the startup script to disable and enable BitLocker.

bcdedit set...

... ... ...

manage-bde-protector - diasable

manage-bde-protector-activate

By running the BitLockers cmdlet, computer with laptop is no longer ask BitLocker recovery key on restart.

However, what impact / change these cmdlets would be on computers that allow BitLocker WITHOUT ? The cmdlets made changes the registry keys / etc?

Thank you

  • How to run the Manager user interface programmatically

I am looking for a method to run programmatically (from Labview), the Manager user interface, and then to connect it.

Is there an API from .net to who?

    Thank you

Note: I developed for earlier versions of VeriStand, a high-level application that manages projects of test benches and their versions. I want to update with the new manager of the user VeriStand interface.

It is not a .NET API to control UI Manager, but there are some command line utilities, you can use to launch the user interface Manager, open a specific project, specify the IP address of the gateway to use and connect automatically.

Try the following command line arguments:

    /nivsprj 'c:\project.nivsprj' Gateway localhost / connect

They are documented in the online profile of Stimulus help editor.

  • 2 Adobes running task manager?

My task manager should show BOTH running adobe flash drives when I play facebook games?  That ONE browser is open and that ONE game is played. Thanks for the help on confirming this, so I can be sure that I don't have two going at the same time.

What is expected.  You should see two processes of Flash Player running in the Task Manager.  This is how works protected in Firefox Mode.  A process is the broker, which is really small and is mainly used to send messages back to the Flash Player to low integrity process.  The low integrity process is not allowed to do much, but he does all the heavy lifting in terms of processing of the content that you see on the web.  If malicious content is able to plant and take control of the procedure of Flash Player, it can't really do anything with it, because it runs with low permissions.

You can read more about what the Protected Mode is, and how it works here: inside of Flash Player Protected-Mode for Firefox

Execution of the Interface is done correctly if the same agent ODI runs directly from the command prompt (using agent.bat). But when we start the agent the instance of OPMN, the following error:

The agent of ODI running fine and complete any execution of the interface without MAXL. But if we use PRE_LOAD_MAXL_SCRIPT, it generates an error.

We have already created two environment variables such as ESSBASEPATH and ARBORPATH, also set to day the Path variable. We are able to start maxl using the command "essmsh" directly from the command prompt.

I would like to know how can we call MAXL scripts through successful ODI agents OPMN.

All the suggestions/help will be appreciated.

    Thank you!!

Some time ago I saw it, so I forgot a few other env variables that must report in opmn.xml. It also needed a little more env vars the overall environment for OPMN is very limited. You can try the steps Note 1556801.1 as well. If all goes well, that should do the trick.

  • I can run < Microsoft Management Reporter > connected to an ERP / accounting other than dynamic?

I need a MS tool to substitute .

My client is currently using for his financial forecasting process.

They connect to this developed internal forecast of their ERP tool.

I found that would be MS competitive option, but it requires Dynamics ERP, or not?

So, what can I use (on site or in the cloud) as a stand-alone product?

Can I connect its data or other ERP provider?

Now is all I need to know (and of course if MS would sell me the w/out dynamics.)

  • How can I run the Windows 8.1 Profile Manager

I have three laptop computers, both running windows 7 and one running windows 8.1 I just put up a few proifles on a Windows 7 machine and also started using Sync.

I went to Windows 8.1 machine to test my work. Sync works fine, I now all my old favorites on the new machine.

Then, I wanted to test if synchronization was copied on the profiles. I closed Firefox and typed firefox.exe Pei in the immediate window. That grew Firefox itself, not the Profile Manager. I consulted the help file and tried to enter complete progam
    "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla" PEI

That sound again to the top of Firefox profile manager.

Why would this command not work? Is there another way to show the Profile Manager?

My Firefox on both machines is a version installed 33 (as I type I had a popup offering me the 33.0.1 version)

I tried to automatically add troubleshooting information, but got an error message saying that there was a failure on the site mozilla.support. I followed the steps to manually add it.

    Hello

You must ensure that either Firefox is closed when you run Profile Manager, or also include you '- no - remote' as well in the command line. Please fill out the following for more information:

  • Task Manager Windows has 5 svchost.exe/System cases and 3 instances of YahooWidgets.exe/Owner running in XP SP3

I did a few recommended lately on the system settings.  I don't remember see these multiple entries above.

It is normal to have several copies of svchost.exe appears in the Task Manager.  I have 8 right now in the process of execution.

Important XP Services running "behind" these entries of svchost.exe.  Some svchost.exe process may have just XP Service running behind her, an another svchost.exe process can have several XP Services running behind it.

In addition, malicious software has been know to dress up like a svchost.exe process to deceive you or sometimes the malware will hide behind a svchost.exe process, because he knows that you won't be able to see it in the Task Manager.

I don't know what YahooWidgets and do not want to install any YahooWidgets to find out how it works, or if this is normal.

Thanks to the bad implementation of the MS Answers forums, we know absolutely nothing about your system is always a good idea before troubleshooting to run some respectable scans for malware, then I'll give you some instructions, if you're curious to see what happens behind these multiple svchost.exe process see you in Manager tasks.

No matter what you use for malware protection, follow these steps:

Download, install, update, and make at least an analysis full (not at the same time) with these free malware detection programs:
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

These comprehensive analyses can take some time, but you really need to run.  SAS will probably be just a bunch of Internet tracking cookies, but you can remove them.  Once you have done at least a full analysis, you can do quick scans in the future to save time and save the analyses complete for when you have more time or are really suspicious of an infection of the system.

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

To help understand your processes svchost.exe and what is running under them, read this article and you will be smarter than the average bear:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial129.html

You may be able to get clues with what is happening with your svchost.exe process using the Task Manager and maybe understand.

You will always be able to understand what is happening with your svchost.exe process if you use Process Explorer.

Download Process Explorer, so you can see what is 'really' running on your system, especially behind those svchosts several process see you in the running task manager.

    Download Process Explorer from here:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

You'll like Process Explorer when you get the hang of it.  Process Explorer is the Manager of Windows taskbar on steroids.

Process Explorer installs nothing so it won't slow down your system since it works only on request.

Process Explorer can seem a little intimidating at first because it has so much information, but you will begin to make love the way it works when you're looking for performance problems.   You can even say EP you want it to be your new default 'Task Manager' value in the future.  You can always run the original tasks as Manager.

Once you get Process Explorer running, expand the columns, made drag the corners of the screen for it's largest, etc., so you can see as much information as possible in the window.  Now you can really see what is running on the system.

  • Update Manager upgrade of the ESXi host that he is running in a virtual machine does

That is the question.  Here is some information.  We were a completely virtualized environment for several years.  2 guests ESXi collocated 5.5 to different data centers connected of course by a VPN site-to site.  The VPN itself is provided by VMs and vCenter runs in a VM to one of the sites as Update Manager is to proceed with installing it. If the vCenter and/or VPN VMs are down, we have a very cool backup method to gain access to and manage ESXi and its console.   Some of you who read the rest of the present will be tempted to suggest to architecting our environment differently, but we are very pleased with the way it is thank you very much :-)  Appreciate all the answers but really just responded to this specific question.

The reason why we want to Update Manager is really just to be able to upgrade easily ESXi in the future without enter in the console and the execution of orders, etc.  I realize the documentation and blogs on this topic that ESXi may need to go into maintenance mode and stop the virtual machines running on it (not a cluster if no migration) how ESXi is lose connection to the Update Manager (if the remote host) or a stop Update Manager (if the local host).  So the question is, is that the process of updating managed by Update Manager an atomic operation at that crucial moment or a sequence of operations depend on continuous connectivity and control of Update Manager.  Ddoes ESXi, then perform the upgrade and restart regardless - that would be great - or he'll just stand there in maintenance mode to learn more about disconnected now / stop Manager update pending.

    Your answers are greatly appreciated.

Please, tell me if I understand you:

Ask yourself if you can upgrade the host running Update Manager VM? And you cannot migrate the virtual to another host machine because there is no cluster in place and no shared storage?

If your answer is YES to both questions, I can tell you that you cannot use Update Manager, since you must put your host in Maintenance Mode and therefore you will need to stop all virtual machines running, including the VM Manager Update.

  • How to restore a full backup of the Server 2008 system that has been stored on a BitLocker Drive encrypted?

I have a requirement to encrypt my server for transport off-site backups, so I'll try to store my backups to an external drive that is encrypted for BitLocker.  I am doing a test restore to a new drive to simulate a full system recovery, but I'm unable to unlock the drive encrypted with the backup of the prompt under system recovery options.

I have confirmed that I can unlock the drive from a command inside the original Windows installation prompt using manage - bde.wsf and the recoverypassword, but the same command does not work from the command prompt during the recovery process (started from the installation DVD).  There is no error code, a single message that the recovery key did not work and administrator privileges may be required.

When you try the same command from another server when connected to that drive, I got an error that can be informative, code 0 x 80310037, implying that the recovery key may not because of the FIPS compatible algorithms that are needed.

I'm looking for something that isn't possible trying to store the complete system on a BitLocker encypted disk backups?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  • BitLocker (Windows 7) - Auto prompt password

I've been using bitlocker for a while and have no problem with it - the other then one.  I only have my D drive encrypted with bit locker (C is open).  Y at - it means having windows ask me the password unlock it after I have logged on to the laptop.   Currently, when I click on the D drive - and if it is locked - I get the prompt to unlock.  I don't want to not auto unlock during logon or startup - just to be invited after logon.

Is this feasible via a script or a policy setting?

May have found an answer, the following tracks from a (high) command prompt: manage-bde-unlock - pw D:
