Running windows from a flash drive

How I laod and run Windows XP or Vista, a flash player? I have a 32 GB sandisk cruzer w/password protect on it.

Cannot install Windows USB stick except Windows (Windows To Go feature) but you can create a bootable flash drive to boot and install Windows XP/Vista/7/8.

How to create and install Windows Vista/7/8 using the bootable USB key, Windows XP or an earlier version to try Windows XP bootable USB drive

I think that it becomes common problems with tablet PC and Net-books

    Regards Mr C Gulliver

I would not hold your breath waiting for the Member States to create a download of XP home whether or not you have a valid license.  In fact, I wouldn't count on them for anything whatsoever.

If you do not have to any web site using a system that works, it's a problem.

I don't know if a copy of an older version of XP in the flash player works or not - I just made flash bootable XP Recovery Console drives for questions like yours.

You need to solve your problem of file missing the old fashioned way.

When you start in Recovery Console XP from a flash drive, you should be able to simply replace your missing file because XP has copies of it on your system in other places.

A copy of the file should be here:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

or depending on your installation, you can find it here:

    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

But it might be one of your unspecified qurantined application antivirus/antimalwre (actually deleted) file.  It of more unknown information, through MS Answers forum request no system information when a new question is asked (you need to do now).

It is quite common for the XP Recovery Console or even installing XP does not recognize the SATA disks (at least when starting from CD).  There are dozens of different laptop models like yours then has no way for us to know that you have a SATA drive.

I have SATA drives too and do not have this problem, but I think that my system is afraid of me.

In order to get these SATA drives recognised (in general), you must enter the BIOS of your system and find the section where the interface for device is configured and temporarily SATA change to something the Recovery Console will recognize (since I don't see your BIOS, I can't tell you what it is), replace the missing file by copying , restart and change the BIOS to what it was before.

Be sure to take note of all the BIOS settings that you change so you can change them at the time where you did or if your situation deteriorates.

I also suggest that Hiren's Boot CD from time to time and they have download instructions and their stuff from a USB Pendrive to start here.  I've never seen Hiren require any setting BIOS on a SATA drive, but I don't have your system.

If this does not work, you should visit the Support of Compaq forums where this subject is a frequent topic of discussion.  You're not the first person in the world to have need to start their a USB device Compaq mini to fix something.  This is the Windows XP Help forum - not the Compaq help forum.

Good luck waiting on MS to help you!

  • Envy 13 d001ne: cannot install Windows 10 from usb flash drive

    Summary of the problem:

The laptop SSD has a GPT format. I am trying to insall a Windows 10 ISO I have on it from a flash drive. Formatting a usb startup as TPG manually or using Rufus drive will not make the unit visible non-traditional mode. Formatting the drive in the MBR on the other hand I cannot install on a GPT disk.

I've tried everything. I disabled and enabled secure boot. I updated the BIOS to the latest revision F.35.

    What's wrong?

The ISO had problems with it. I used another and then I could install Linux Mint and Windows without any problem.

    I solved my problem here.

  • Trying to create a bootable Windows 7 x 64 Flash drive. Get the "invalid MS-DOS function" error message when you try to copy the file 'bootsect.exe.mui' of the Windows ISO on Flash drive

The title pretty much everything said.  I have an installer the ISO of Windows 7 Professional x 64.  I am trying to create a bootable flash drive using these instructions:

    http://www.OSNews.com/story/20795/Installing_Windows_7_on_the_Aspire_One_or_Any_Other_Netbook

I followed all the steps in the guide without problem.  Windows Explorer shows the drive is NTFS.  I can copy all other files of ISO on the FlashDrive without problem.  Only, I can't copy this file.  I tried to copy it to my hard drive rather than on the flash drive, and it still does not work.

I tried to create a file with the same name by using Notepad to see if there was a problem with the file name.  I can copy this file on my hard drive flash drive, but I can't always copy the ISO file.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 edition and using a Corsair Flash Voyager 16 GB flash drive.

  • How do I boot ESXi from a Flash drive

Hello, I have a LENOVO G570 and want to boot ESXi from a flash drive.

Question-if I boot from a flash drive, ESXi install on my hard drive?  I don't want that it installed on my drive hard because I have Windows 7 installed on LENOVO G570.

Without taking into account the fact that your hardware is not supported to run ESXi in native mode, you might be able to install ESXi on a USB key. However, the VMFS data store (where is stored the VM) must be on the hard drive (no USB device is taken in charge).

If you want to try ESXi, you can be better egg to run as a virtual machine using VMware Workstation. That's how many of us do this to test and practice.

Uploading images to a flash drive

a friend gave us a flash player that has pictures on it. I plugged it in and it turns on but I get nothing on my screen says thast there download or anything like that. How can I get my photos once they are uploaded?

They don't automatically upload. In some versions of Windows, when you insert any type of removable drive (flash disk, CD, DVD, etc.) you will get a dialog box asking what you want to do with the content. I find it quite annoying, but, in this case, it would be useful, because then you can choose from various options that may include any software you have to display the photos.

As this did not happen, press the Windows key + E to open Windows Explorer, click Folders in the menu to display the folders pane, then click the icon that represents the flash player. You should see (depending on your display options), a list of the icons or thumbnails of the photos. Try a double-click on one to see if some kind of viewer opens (for example, if you have a recent version of the installed office and they are JPEG files, they will probably open in Microsoft Office Picture Manager). If this isn't the case, right click on one and choose open with. You can have a few viable options listed; If this is not the case, click on choose program... and select a probable from the list in the dialog box that opens.

Note that this will only display the photos; they are still on the flash drive. To copy them to your hard drive, you will need to drag them from the flash drive into a folder on your hard drive.

How to install a program from a flash drive, downloaded from the old system of XP on Vista?

If you literally just copied the program files, then paste it into the program on vista files and try to run it. It may not work because he might miss the registry keys, that he needs, but if she didn't absolutely need these keys to run, it will probably work very well.

  • Install Windows from secondary hard drive

AFAIK, you can boot from a second internal drive, but your BIOS must be able to select the second drive, and I'm not sure that the average laptop BIOS has the ability.

You better boot and install from a flash drive. In addition, it is a good idea to remove or unplug the secondary internal drives during the installation of an operating system...

don't know how to transfer pictures from a flash drive on mac i.

Plug a flash drive on your mac.  Flash drive icon should appear on your desktop.  There are adapters for sd camera cards.

You may be prompted to add pictures to the photo app.

If not or you do not want to add photos to the app, you can double-click the flash drive icon. You may need to explore the folder where are the pictures.  Drag and drop the photos where ever you like.

Someone able to boot from a flash drive?

    Hello and welcome,

What linux distro do you use, and it is able to start on a UEFI system?

I'm guessing here since I don't have a machine like yours, but I guess that BIOS refuses to see the USB if it doesn't have an appropriate structure of UEFI boot on it.

You may be able to start the flash player by accessing the BIOS and setting the mode of inheritance.

  • Deleting files from the Flash drive

I have a Sandisk Cruzer Edge 16 GB Flash Drive.  I use it with two computers, an iMac and a Macbook Air, both using OS X 10.8.2.  Recently, I loaded about 10 GB of files on it.  I have now deleted these files.  However, Finder always shows the Flash drive as carrying 10.8 GB of files and having only 5,2 GB of available.  When I try to record a 10 GB file on the Flash drive, I get a message saying that there is not enough available space.

How can I delete uploaded files from the Flash drive so that I can reuse the whole 16 GB?

I don't use a Mac, so I'm going off the coast of the memory of what I read here before, but I think you need to empty your trash, while the disc is still connected to your Mac.
