  • Inspiron 530 processor upgrade

I have a dell inspiron 530 with 3 GB of ram, dual core processor, 2.0 mhz.  I want to this level to a faster processor. I saw some posts in the forums where people have said that they have improved their processors, but I just got the phone with Dell and was told that this is impossible. Can someone help me to know if this is possible, and how to go about it if I can't get the parts from Dell?

    Thanks in advance.

So, if I understand correctly, I think I have the G33m02, but how can I make sure? If Yes, that means that I need to improve my power supply and obtain mother g33m03, correct? It's a difficult thing to level physically? Keeping in mind, the only things I've never updated are my video card and hard drive.

  • The Inspiron 530 CPU upgrade.

Hi all. I have an Inspiron 530 stock (not a 530 a/b/c/d, etc.) under Vista Home Premium, model Board 0RY007. BIOS is 1.0.3 (which... seems hopelessly out of date, but what do I know?). Previous research told me I couldn't go to a quad core with this motherboard, but a dual core is very good for my gaming needs. I installed on a Pentium E6500 2.93 GHz dual core, because it seemed to be a modest upgrade that would work with realism in a 3 year machine.

When that I boot, I get the black screen progress bar, green with the Microsoft copyright line downstairs. It will not go past this screen. When I reboot, the comp is in recovery mode, but then freezes also. I reinstalled the old processor core, he returned to recovery mode, this time successfully, and I did a system restore to a week ago. It is here where I am now. The machine works very well with the old processor (I also upgraded the RAM and that seems to be good too), so I'm left wondering if this new processor is compatible with my old Inspiron. Any help/advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Before installing the processor, upgrade the BIOS to Version 1.0.15, or more, what new Intel CPU support has been added and see if that makes a difference.

In addition, please post the e6500 processor sSpec number.

  • Inspiron 530 video upgrade question card

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 has. It has all the pieces of stock right now, but I'll put a core 2 duo E7400 in there when it happens. The next issue is that I need a video card for it. What is the best card that can be put in it without an upgrade to the PSU, yet? The power supply will not be upgraded for awhile. The motherboard is the G33M02, not 03 version version. He seems to have the 1.0.15 installed BIOS version, I will update as soon as I have the chance. It has not always been connected even to install an operating system - came empty (just bought from a wholesaler of machines of companies).

Edit - forgot the bios information.

Forget the 8400 GS.  This card is too old and has little to offer with regard to the performance of the game.  The HD 6450 or 610 GT are the best cards. The minimum requirement to play Mechwarrior online is the HD 6450 and the GT 610 offers similar performance.  If you want something better without too much spending, I'd recommend getting the HD 6570 HERE.  This card would have much better performance of game at the expense of others.

I have an Inspiron from Dell 530 s with the Dell G33M02 motherboard. I transferred from the motherboard to a mATX case.  I tried to get a faster processor. In addition, what is the max RAM it can support? I've seen people say is 4 GB and others said 8 GB. I was looking for ram

    PiUser5

Yes, the Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale, 3.16 GHz, 6 MB, 1333 MHz FSB, 65W processor is supported.

Before installing the processor, you must check that you have the latest Version of the BIOS is installed, Intel has been added as support for the new processor.

4 GB of memory is the max for the motherboard G33M02.

  • Inspiron 531 processor upgrade

I would like to upgrade my processor to the most powerful that my system can handle without overloading the power stock. Currently, my system is maxed out with 2 hard drives, 320 & 500 GB, DVD burner and combo, Nvidia 8600 GT drive, PCI Wireless card reader and 4 GB of Ram. The current processor is an AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core 5600 + I know that I could stick a 6000 + in, but he probably won't get much improvement. I forgot to mention, I have the latest version of the bios update.

I see that Dell is silling RAM but is a bit more expensive side and trying to find elsewhere, but to see different speeds... So rather than have bad normal speed and it does not work, can someone point me in the right direction to make sure I get good memory?

I guess you have the Inspiron 530 mini tour with the 300w/350w PSU and not the version of Slimline s 530, with a power of 250w.

MT 530 systems were built with two different models of motherboards.

If your 530 has been purchased with either a Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual-Core, Celeron processor and a 300w power supply, this system usually involves an 0RY007/G679R/CU409 [FoxConn G33m02] motherboard which only supports LGA 775 Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual-Core and Celeron processors and 4 GB of RAM.

If your Inspiron 530 minitower shipped with a LGA 775 Core 2 Quad processor and a 350w power supply, you have the motherboard [FoxConn DG33m03] of 0FM586.

The card mother 0FM586 can be used for both Quad 4 and Core 2 Duo processors and can support 8 GB of RAM, with a 64-bit operating system

Motherboard is your MT 530 have?

    The Inspiron 530 with a motherboard G33M02/0RY007 will support either 4 GB [4 x 1 GB, or 2 x 2 GB DDR2 PC - 2 modules - 5300 or DDR2 PC2-6400 memory.]

  • Upgrade CPU Dell Inspiron 530?

I bought a Dell Inspiron 530 in October 2008 (Service tag <> NOTE from the ADMIN: Service tag removed by privacy policy >) and I would like to upgrade the processor. My current processor is an Intel Celeron 450 2.20 GHz. I think that my motherboard is a Foxconn G33M02. (But I am not sure, and I would like to confirm that, so that I don't get an incompatible cpu.)

What would be a good upgrade from the processor that I can put in my current motherboard? I feel that my current Celeron 450 is a uniprocessor processor, and I would trade out for an important and remarkable improvement with more hearts (at reasonable cost) while keeping the same motherboard.

I've already updated the PSU for a 460 Watt PSU and have also upgraded the video card. Looking for a good upgrade from the processor. I think I also need to update my bios of motherboard.

  • Inspiron 530 s CPU Upgrade - why some Dual Core and not others?

    Hi all

Inspiron 530 s been chugging along fine (although strong), but has now been replaced, so decided to take a look inside, radiator & fan felt loose so unscrewed it and he lifted directly out absolutely no resistance, so I think that the cpu and the radiator cleaning and put thermal paste on would be a good idea.

When I opened it, I thought that I might as well upgrade the processor as older bicoeur are going for about $10-15 here, (he currently has a 1.87? double heart in it), so I got a reading of the forum to find what was possible

    Theres now my problem

Seem some of the processors used cheap available locally does not not at these figures (and they seem to be somewhat of Eug than those that match)

for example the E8200 E6850, E7200, what of these processors prevents them from working?

And as a note aside will upgrade the radiator and the fan, if I get a different processor?

    Nigelt74

The E7200 and E8200 are 65w/45nm Wolfdale processors and should work.

The E6850 is a 65w/65nm Conroe and will not work

There should be no need to replace the entire radiator/fan of the 530 Inspiron s, but remember to check the version of the BIOS before installing the processor.

  • Dell Inspiron 530 upgrade

I think I'll eventually replace the CPU, motherboard and RAM. However, I expect comments on this better replacements to keep the same power in the short term. I want to just update for children, so high-end is not necessary, but if the price is right, it would be better. I think my biggest concern is the USB/sound/etc ports front. Currently, I think that it is running a 305 w power, and a PCI-e x 16 video card.

Are the connectors for these propritary Dell or will they work with a new motherboard?

Does anyone know the Council size max will take the case and the motherboard (ATX/mini-ATX/BTX/etc) what is? I thought it was an ATX, but I thought I would check when obtaining the size max able to adapt...

    greywolf79

The Inspiron 530 MT supports a card mother Micro-ATX.

You may be involved with the rear i/o Panel, Dell has integrated this into the back panel of the chassis, retail motherboards have separate I/O panels that fit into an ATX chassis, you must change the case, through an opening in the Dell chassis for it.  You can find it easier to buy a standard ATX case.

Dell OEM windows not with a copy card mother not Dell, because it is related to their BIOS, prepare to buy a new copy of windows, or Microsoft license.

Dell front cables and connectors have exclusive features.

You should check what version of motherboard.

The Inspiron 530 has two variants of motherboards, made by Foxconn and based on the G33M series.

The G33M02 supports up to processors Core 2 Duo and the DG33M03 that supports the processors Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad.

Inspiron 530 systems sold with Pentium Dual-Core or Core 2 Duo processors cannot be upgraded to Core 2 Quad processors without adding at least a 350W power supply and swap the motherboards to the DG33M03 version.

The G33M02 does not support processors Core 2 Quad is because he has 6 ICs, the DG33M03 voltage regulator has 11.

Note: Before upgrading the processor, make sure you have BIOS Version 1.0.15 or a more recent version, when support for the new Intel processor has been added.

The Foxconn G33m02 [Dell P/N ORY007] motherboard, supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM DDR2, 530 Mini Tower with a Foxconn G33m03 motherboard systems can support 8 gb (4 x 2 GB modules).

530 s Dell 'Slimline' systems have a Foxconn G33m02 motherboard which only supports a maximum of 4 GB [either4 x modules of 1 GB or 2 x 2 GB modules].

Note also for Windows to recognize 4 GB more memory, you must have a 64-bit operating system installed.

  • Upgrade power supply for dell Inspiron 530 (not slim)

Yes, it's an old computer, but I want to upgrade the power supply for it. Watts, preferably something of 400 or more, but I can settle for 350w or 300w

I have improved the power supply on an Inspiron 530 with an Antec 550 watt modular power supply with no problems.  Just be sure to buy a power supply of standard size, and you should have no problem.
