  Just updated to iOS 10, and most of the things that seem to work well. BUT - the split-screen/side of function side is not available.

  Hello. Split screen has never been supported on iPad Air. Therefore, it is not capable of managing the new Safari in split screen.

  Still, it works as before, or if.  Check your multitasking general, settings and make sure that it not turns off somehow.

  Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. It's my understanding since update to iOS 10 you were unable to use the keyboard in mode split on your iPad 2 Air. I know that the inability to use the keyboard can surely influence daily use. I'm happy to help you.

  I recommend first reboot your iPad. This can solve many unexpected behaviours. Please follow the steps below if necessary.

  1. Press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Red slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn off your device completely off.
  3. Once the device turns off, press and hold the sleep/wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

  Restart your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  If the problem persists, another option would be to reset all settings. It takes all the defaults, including passwords and Wi - Fi networks, alerts, notifications, brightness, wallpaper, sounds, etc. Even if no content is lost with this step, it is always a good idea to back up first.   I just upgraded to El Capitan - partly to take advantage of the split view.   When I hold the cursor on the green button with arrows of the window just goes full screen (fill page).   I read some support and went to Mission Control and checked the box on "screens have separated spaces."   And I opened a session and having done this.  There is no change.   I still can't get it to work in split view.   The same thing is happening: doc moves to full screen.

  You need to click and the green button until the screen turns blue on one side and then release the mouse button. Then click on the second app that you want to fill the other hald of the screen.

• Pages cannot be split for two documents?

  This isn't a beta support site, and the terms of use for these communities to support Apple open prevents us from discussions on beta products. Incidentally, you try to use a published version of Pages on a beta version of Mac OS X, and there is no assurance that split currently working properly on this beta product, or that the version of the Pages is fully compatible with it either.

  You can open the same document twice in the Pages, and position-by-side, the documents are not open to the exact location in the file system. In El Capitan, I have no problem placing a first-page document in split and then view by clicking on the second to fill the other half of the screen.

  There is no split screen or slide on anything whatsoever on the iPad models 2, 3, or 4.

  Drag functions is only on iPad Air and later versions.

  Split screen is only on iPad Pro, 2 Air iPad & iPad Mini 4.

  I read the post here about the missing "extract PDF Text" action, but the solution it does not solve my problem.

  I can't find the 'Split PDF' automator action on my iMac (early 2009 model) under OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks).

  At one point I thought that the action "PDF Split" perhaps were renamed "PDF d'Images', which also separates the PDF documents in single page files. Unfortunately, as the name of the action, suggests this automator action creates Images of each page and all previously available text in the PDF document is converted in the process. This makes their subsequent treatment very difficult.

  Any help in recovering this missing action or a workaround (in automator or applescript) would be greatly appreciated!

  On OS X 10.11.6 there is a PDF Split action in PDF Library of Automator. Don't have 10.9.5 to check it of there or not, but Apple doesn't change very often, these actions so that you may have overlooked it.
