Samsung 830 SSD 256 GB compatible with ThinkPad X220i?

I am considering buying the Samsung 830 SSD 256 GB of disk, but want to make sure that it is compatible with my X220i ThinkPad. I'm sure it is, but I just want to be absolutely sure before you go ahead and spend the money.

With compatible I mean, physically, he'll be back in the TP without problems. Thank you.

According to PSREF, the X220i requires an SSD with these specifications, "SATA 3.0 GB/s, 2.5" wide, 7 mm in height. "All the new SSD sold today run at SATA-III (6 Gb/s) but not all are 7.0 mm thick. As long as the Samsung 830 is 7 mm thick (as opposed to the old 9.5 mm) then it should work perfectly.

Some manufacturers, for example Crucial M4, sell the 7mm and 9.5 mm variants of the same model. If Samsung is similar so make sure that you get the right variant.

  • HP Pavillion DV6700: Is my HP Pavilion DV6700 Compatible with SSD?

I would like to know if my HP laptop is compatible with SSDS. An Internet search turns postings that say that it is possible and other thay say my PC is not compatible with SSDS.

Here is some info on my installation.

My PC is a HP Pavilion DV6700 CTO Entertainment Notebook
    I am running Windows 7
The PC came with Windows Vista

The BIOS is Hewlett - Packard l58 2008-06-16
The processor is Intel Core Duo CPU T7500 to 2.20 GHz, 2201 Mhz, 2 carrots, 2 logical processors

The new SSD is a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.

    (1) my PC is compatible with SSDS?

    (2) are there updates the BIOS or the settings of the software that I need to know?

    Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it is a fully native SATA (ahci) system and an SSD works perfectly. With Windows 7 operating system will know it is a SSD and activate the TRIM and other optimizations to the SSD. It will be a version SATA slower that curent models but you still benefit greatly from an SSD. You must update the BIOS on this model, but not because of the SSD. There isn't quite enough important updates BIOS for this model which correct some problems of initial material as the fan operation and resume the suspension.

Which SATA (I, II or III) is compatible with the dv7-6178us? Specification the SATA is backward compatible. This means that disks SSD SATA type will work in your notebook. The SSD will be made only to the level of specification SATA your SATA controller is capable of. If the controiller is SATA150 so your SSD SATA600 installed work bandwidth SATA150.

What is the largest compatible SSD, or should I expect for the best performance? , You can install one with the largest capacity you can afford.  I would recommend not to install a larger than 512 GB. My own brand preferences are Intel, OCZ Technology, Samsung and SSD Crucial.  Purchase of the SSD in upgrade kit is the simplest solution. Upgrade kits come with a SATA to USB cable and cloning software making it a fairly simple process to upgrade the laptop. See the post-it that I wrote at the top of the section of portable equipment for some details on this.

What is the greatest player I can additionally ADD the SSD for storage? I recommend you not to install any disk hard legacy with a capacity greater than 1 terabyte. There is no guarantee that a superior who will work as expected.

The following information is the maintenance guide & computer Support laptop dv7 to refers to the physical size of existing hard drives.

    6.35 cm (2.5 in) drives supports hard drives to 12.7 mm (. 50 inches), 9.5 mm (. 37-in) and thicknesses of 7.0 mm (. 28 - in)

  • Pavilion g6-2205ep (C3M05EA): that the SSD is compatible with my laptop?

    Hello

I'm looking at some SSD to upgrade my laptop computer (pavilion g6-2205ep). Before buying one, I would like to know if they are compatible with my laptop.

I tried, but I have not found a definitive answer.

    option 1:

MX100 crucial CT512MX100SSD1 2.5 "512GB SATA III MLC internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

    option 2:

SAMSUNG 850 PRO MZ-7KE512BW 2.5 "SATA III 3D Vertical 512GB internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

    option 3:

    OCZ-VERTEX4 2.5 "512 GB (SSD)

Does anyone know if any of these SSD will work?

    Thanks for the help!

Stay away from the MX100. Many problems reported here for reasons that nobody has been able to understand. The Samsung 850 is the best SSD on the market but the OCZ is also good.

  • HP2000 Notebook: what SSD is compatible with my laptop HP2000

    Hello

I want to use my old book of 2000 who has had a major physical disruption a few years back. This led me to leave asside Meanwhile my need for the laptop.

Now that I need it, I wander I'm looking for as SSD go as I remember the tech Advisor that I had spoken at the time telling me to whatch out for compatible readers.

Is there a point of reference for the SSD that would or may not work with the current hardware in my notebook, keeping in mind that no material has been replaced since the original components?

The best consumer SSD out there for me is the Samsung 850 Evo. And your price is a little late. A 250 gig is now about $85 and a 120 is about $64 so get the 250:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-inch-internal-MZ-75E250B-am/DP/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&QID=1445206057&SR=8-1&keywords=Samsung+850+Evo

You can get other model 250 s for a little less. I saw them in the $ 70 range. I have not seen the 120s for less of maybe $50.

You can't go wrong with any SSD on the market with the exception of the MX Crucual series. Many problems reported with those and HP laptops.

It's all backward compatible so no need to try to get older hardware to mesh with the cell phone age. Just install and go. Don't worry about benchmarks. It will be fast enough.
