SAS Logic Controller / update of the virtual hardware

so I did experiments with virtual hardware, logic SAS SCSI Controller in the virtual machine and enhance network drivers.

First it is just me, or is this a VERY intensive upgrade, you must install the NEW vmtools, then stop, then upgrade the hardware (this is why I have experimented with the realization of the upgrade, and then Tools, which works very well).  However, using even a NEW CD of Windows install (2003) and the floppy disk controller, the SAS drive is not recognized.  I can add it during the 'press F6 for new controller... ". "blah blah blah... but he said some people found hard drives, as well as change the controller, despite having installed drivers with the tools of the NEW virtual machine still cause the OS to blue screen, inaccessible device.

So now the question arises, someone understood what driver to use for this?  They should be, but they do not seem to work, FTM

SAS controller is also required for the Windows Clustering 2008 because the old LSI adapter will not work (lack of support for SCSI-3).

We are converting 2.5 VC to vSphere 4.0, and I'm curious to know if it is possible to automate the process of updating the hardware virtual of our VMS version 4 to version 7, so that we can start using them in an environment vSphere with all the bells and whistles. To be clear, I'm trying to know if there is a way to use the Perl API to duplicate the results I would get by right-clicking on a virtual machine in the VC and selecting "Update of virtual hardware".

Yep, you'll need to get a reference to an offline VM and then call the UpgradeVM_Task method and specify the version, and in this case it will be 7

  • on the virtual hardware noob question, pls help

I have a problem. I have a system with vmware not made by me, but now I have to take control of it and make backups of machines. I want to buy essentials and essentials of veeam vsphere.

    Today, I read this:

    Virtual hardware

    • Virtual machines with disks involved in the shared SCSI bus are not supported, because VMware doesn't support taking snapshots these virtual machines.

    • RDM virtual disks in physical mode, Independent disks disks connected via in-guest iSCSI initiator are not supported and are ignored automatically process.

Where can I find this information? I mean where can I see in vsphere client if I am in this situation? Is there something one place where I can find clear if my system is in this situation? I had under Configuration, storage adapters, and it is written:

    Broadcom iSCSI adapter

    vmhba32 iSCSI

    This means that I'm doomed?

    Hello

This information is on your VM configurations. If you need to choose your VM--> pass parameter to change. Then select your SCSI controller and verify if the virtual or physical mode is selected.

. For RDM, just select a hard drive and check to see if you have a logic unit number instead of a vmdk. But if it's a vmdk you will not see the physical or virtual mode option.

  • Wrong message 'VMware Tools can be updated' for the virtual machine within ESXi 4.1

These VMware tools in my guest operating system keep on the list "VMware Tools can be updated" and the yellow exclamation point.

Host operating system is ESXi 4.1.0 build 348481

VMware Tools version is 8.4.8 build 491717

It is not on the files with the extension.001 as described in the following article

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2001382

I checked and there is no file with this extension.

I think that VMware tools is unable to read or to compare the correct numbers.  Or is there another reason?

    Reply to my own post:

The answer, in fact the procedure, is inside this article:

    https://communities.VMware.com/docs/doc-31365

For some reason VMware Tools is not installed correctly (for example files from previous versions are left inside the hard disk).  So I have to do a manual cleaning before you reinstall the tools.

  • Migration of VMS of vsphere 5.0 and 5.5. The virtual computer hardware should be upgraded?

We have a few virtual machines to a roommate with a newer version of vsphere. Are there benefits to upgrading in addition what is listed in the link below? We have really no need for the maximum ram or cpu upgrades. I thought that now version 8 virtual machines should be fine, unless there is a major performance improvement or other reason to upgrade to 10.

Hardware features available with the Virtual Machine compatibility settings

You are on point with your comments. There is no need to upgrade to version 10, you if you don't need. This is why VMware is now calling VM Compatibility virtual rather than physical level. This is to remove the pressure of always trying to follow with the virtual hardware.

By experience, I find the upgrade virtual hardware, one of the scariest parts of any upgrade project. Ive met a lot question after her that is why it is always recommended to create a snapshot prior to an update of the virtual hardware. Its the only way to restore.

  • Oscillations in the logic controller output blurred

    Hello

I recently implemented Fuzzy Logic Controller in Labview 8 for the control of a wide process station. I used Compact Point of field (PDC AIO 110) for it to interface with the hardware. Here are some other details

Entries to FLC: error, derived from the error of the Signal of the level transmitter

    Fuzzification: Max - Min

    Defuzzification: Center of gravity

Level sensor: capacitive Type level transmitter

    FCE: Control valve

    Data acquisition: cFP2020, PSC AIO110

Then, when I run the VI... I am able to control the water level in the tank successfully, but there are oscillations in fuzzy logic controller output. The oscillations are so intense and change very adbruptly. I need to fix this oscillations, as this may damage the equipment.

I am in need of a solution that makes the controller smooth response... Any suggestions? I need to solve this problem as soon as possible, as the deadline for my project work acad is almost

When you do the (k) e - e(k-1), it's an implementation of the oblique action, actually. You can implement by mistake or by using y (k) - (k-1) there also. This would avoid the effect of set point, when you change the target value, it is a mistake that is used by the derived variable.

To better describe what I mean, please open the example:

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\control\fuzzy\tanks.llb\Tanks - control blur PI.vi

and try to see the screenshots below:

1 change the boundaries of your function of members associated with the derivative action will make the answer less susceptive to noise. This is where you should focus on the Fuzzy Editor.

    2. the filter function is called: PID control entry Filter.vi and this implements a 5th order FIR filter. If you want more on the filtering option, you would have to use the LabVIEW functions for parsing > Signal Processing > filters. Here's how you should use the FIR filter:

    3. the speed limiter is called PID output VI rate limit and it is used as:

These are the options that I was discussing.

Right now, we want to just cancel the upgrade process and delete the virtual machine.

    Any suggestion?

Hard shut down the virtual using the vSphere client. If it does not migrate all other virtual machines off the coast of the host, then turn off the host. When you restart the host, you should be able to remove the virtual machine as the processes that are running against her will have stopped.

  • Win98SE invited in WS v10.0.1; cannot upgrade virtual hardware

I installed VMware WS v9.x v10.0.1 and, as with all the previous WS upgrades, I upgraded the virtual hardware to version 10.  With one exception, all that is.  My Win98SE guest does not accept the upgrade of virtual equipment of v9 to v10.  I have an error message: "this virtual machine does not have the latest version of VMWare Tools.  You must update the VMware Tools until you can upgrade the virtual machine.  "For more information about upgrading, see 'http://vmware.com/info?id=98'.  I am running WS on a Win8.1 Pro host.

First of all, I did never had upgrade level of VMware Tools before upgrading the hardware.  I always updated the virtual material THEN upgraded VMware Tools.  In fact, I just did it for my Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux VMs, Win7.

Secondly, it seems to be there anyway no new version of VMware Tools for Win98SE.  When I start the operating system, I get no automatic indication I had to upgrade.  When I go to the VM option in WS while the VM is running I only get the option "Reinstall VMware Tools".  And when I set the winPre2k.iso on the virtual CD and start the installation manually I get only the options to repair/uninstall/reinstall.  Relocation of the VMware Tools has the same original problem.

I remember something vaguely similar in the past where VMware has released an upgrade which was problematic because they did not provide a new VMware Tools for Windows Pre2k operating systems and has not bothered to even update the version number in the file winPre2k.iso so that it works correctly with the new virtual hardware.  I'm guessing that something like this can happen again.  Either that or there is some kind of a bug.  I am remiss to contact VMware directly to report a bug through their support mechanisms; the last time I did it turned into a long 6 + months fiasco loaded many emails back to California and the India Conference calls, allowing the remote control of my computer, etc.

When I tried to create a new VM Win98SE, WS chose the 10 hardware version that tells me Win98SE is supposed to work on this latest version of virtual equipment.

So, let's recap: WS v10.x wants the latest tools installed in Win98SE VM prompt to update the virtual hardware to v10 but do not accept that there is NO new version of tools.  I have marked this message as a question in case someone can offer opportunities to a solution which I missed.  It's maddening to constantly through problems like this in a piece of software as professional and expensive.

Sorry you have a question however...

: 1 Windows 98 is more a BONE officially supported by VMware for VMware Workstation 10 (or Microsoft for that matter) even if it can be selected in the wizard.

Fact 2: A given virtual hardware version can be selected does not mean all the features will be compatible with all operating systems or any OS.

Fact 3: Products VMware, like many other manufactured goods, have questions that will have to be workaround at certain times.

Then...  If it appears there is a question of trying to change the hardware compatibility through the user interface and then manually edit the .vmx config file to make the changes necessary and appropriate!

If I were to create a Windows 98 VM by selecting "hardware compatibility:" Workstation 9.0 and 10.0 Workstation, while accepting all the default values, the only difference in the .vmx config file is virtualHW.version = '9' vs virtualHW.version = "10".  If a simple manual modification of the .vmx config file it will modernize to 10!

  • You want to upgrade the virtual machine?

I need to upgrade my computer virtual so that the beta to succeed trial? I'm afraid that if I update and then the trial is over, I won't be able to go back to my old version of workstation (and of merger).

If my comments on the trial is always valuable without upgrading, so maybe I'll just stay here where I am. Otherwise, I'll update and treat the risk later on the road.

    Thank you.

IMO, if we're not prepared to upgrade the virtual hardware, so we shouldn't participate as it kind of defeats the purpose of beta testing.  You can (and should in any case) do good backups back to even if you change the compatibility before removing the Technology Preview.  Also if the return to the current GA version remember to uninstall VMware Technology Preview tools and install the appropriate version of VMware Tools.

  • virtual hardware 7, what should be done?

I know it's pretty simple to upgrade the virtual hardware to 7, but efforts must be made to the virtual machine after?

    Hello.

After the update of the virtual material, when you turn on the machine virtual BACK - Windows does not detect the new device (s) and then you will need to restart.  After the reboot, I usually just check in the device manager that everything looks good.  I also check event logs as well for good measure.  As you say, it should be a fairly simple process.

    Good luck!

  • VMWare Player installation and Installation of the software in the virtual disk

    Hi people,

I installed VMWare game in the free Version. I want to use the virtual disk for a Windows XP operating system. I have the following question for my main system (8.1 Windows 64 bit system stand-alone system).

    1.

I installed a Windows XP 64-bit with SP 2 system. In this virtual disk, I installed a software that needs several software components. I managed to install all the components, but one. This component is WindowsInstaller-KB893803-package x 86 lot. If Intry to install the following error notice appears: "Ce KB893803v2 is for a different hardware platform." How can I make this software to obtain the virtual hardware information (i.e. not information of the current build-in components for Windows 8.1).

    2.

While I did all the settings in Windows XP SP2 in the virtual disk on 'German' keyboard assignment is American. How can I change this?

    3.

I have a 64-bit Windows 8.1 system on my computer (I think it said 'Host system'). Can I install a Windows XP 32-bit system in the Ramdisk anyway?

Please answer in detail. I thank in advance for your answers.

    Kind regards. Mainze

Don't worry too much on the OS host and/or physical hardware like handles of VMware Player, which is required to run Supportepar OSes as guests, for the most part, a layer of virtualized hardware.  Windows XP 32-bit should work fine in VMware Player on your 64-bit Windows 8.1 host.
