Satellite 110CS: PC cards?

Now, * please * don't laugh.

I've had two of these beasts (don't ask) and actually like them as good solid material that is pleasant to use, if not swift & elegant.

I really need to know how it's easy to get going with USB, network/modem & (poss) CDROM drive, even though I'm more embarrassed about the first two.

Both have Win 98SE installed, btw.

The PCMCIA slots can take the current PC cards, including those that provide USB ports? I realize, I get speed USB2.0, but that's just fine.

Or are they really too old for practical use? Anyone have an experience, I would be grateful.

Hello

normally a W98SE and a PCMCIA USB Satellite 110CS should work.

Your Satellite 110CS provides PCMCIA Card Type II and III. But there are two features of PCMCIA, 16-bit and 32-bit (also called Cardbus), in my opinion the 110 Sat does support 32-bit cards. So be very careful in selling PCMCIA cards are 32-bit!

If these problems are solved, the next step are the drivers. W98SE supports USB 1.1 and also PCMCIA, W98SE should work with it, but from time to time, it is very tricky to install USB W98SE.

Ultimately if you are lucky and you will get a PCMCIA USB 16 bit, it should work!

Goodbye Chris

    Hello

I studied in the internet for some instruction, but it is a very old machine, and there is not a lot of s information on the replacement.
But some people in the net replaced the RTC battery on a similar unit.
To remove the RTC battery, you must:

1 turn off the computer. Unplug the power cord and all external cables
    connected to the computer.

    2. remove the battery, the PC as an option, the memory module option card, HARD drive,
Auxiliary battery, keyboard and VGA card.

3 turn the computer over and remove the three screws from three corners of the bottom cover.

    4. remove the four screws from the battery compartment.

5 turn the computer over and remove back cover faceplate so superior you
    can disconnect the cables.

6 disconnect the cable from the battery for real-time clock of the PJ3 on system board
    and remove the battery.

Hope it helps a little but if you don't have any experience you shouldn't t remove anything.

  • Satellite 110CS BIOS update diskette

Hi, I have an old Toshiba Satellite 110CS and when I have it lit three days ago, I get a blank screen with a prompt to insert a disk in the BIOS update.
I do not know what file to download on your site for the 110CS
    -is "s1110 - 150trad.zip" for s1110 - 150.exe?

    Hello

I don't think it's the update of the correct BIOS for your laptop. It is very important that search you updates the BIOS under the "archived" category where you will find a specific update for Satellite 110CS for BIOS version 5.20.

For access to this simply click on Support and downloads-> update your BIOS

then in her-> product Type, select the appropriate boxes of files, family-> series of Satellite products - Archive-> Satellite 1XX, model-> Satellite 110

This produces the download BIOS version 5.20

I recently had to reinstall windows vista (32 bit) on this Satellite L30, all other disks installed correctly, apart from the internal wifi driver, I tried loads of different on the toshiba site, and none of them invite the wifi card to operate. \like as I say, the card does not appear in Device Manager or when I run everest, but assured me that this particular model has built in wifi and Yes, I have the switch on the front running.

    any ideas?

Did you buy this laptop as used a brand new?

  • On the problem of the Satellite A110-275 card reader

    Hey

Ive had a bit of trouble with my card on my A110-275 reader. Whenever I put an SD card, the light flashes to say he recognizes her, but no matter what I can't seem to load.

I know that's not the card because my father has a similar laptop and I have no problem whatsoever with his.

I was wondering if it could be the drivers? Anyone got any info on the place where to download?

    [Thanks:]

    Hello

Satellite A110 is old enough laptop model. Since when did you notice this problem with an SD card? Have you tested with different SD cards (different capacities)?

  • Satellite A200-1AX: card reader SD and BT do not work after installing Win XP

    Hello

About a year and a half, I bought my laptop Toshiba Satellite A200-1AX and I'm very happy with it.
It had Vista on it. For this OS, my SD slot worked, but I don't know the bluetooth because I don't use it.

Some time passed and I removed Vista and now I have Windows XP with sp3.
All right, but the SD slot does not work. Bluetooth does not work as well and it is not listed in Device Manager.
I tried Toshiba Bluetooth stack, and when the installation reaches the driver part it does not move.

Here's a screenshot of my device manager:

Those with question marks is not supported by XP as I know, correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hello

Satellite A200-1AX belongs to the PSAE6E series.
It s equipped with BT module so after installing battery BT BT should work correctly, you need to activate using the FN + F8 keys.

    Regarding the housing of card reader SD;
You must install the Flash Media Driver for Texas Instruments. This is the driver for the Bridge Media Slot. This slot allows you to insert an SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture cards.

By the way; the BIOS must be updated after the installation of Win XP. There is a version of BIOS (5, 60-WIN right now) that is specially designed for Win XP

  • Cannot install VISTA on Satellite A100 graphics card driver

    Hi all

    I need help.
I just installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my Satellite A100-326, (series PSAA9). This system has a graphics card from NVIDIA® GeForce Go 7300 with 256 MB dedicated memory that has worked very well on Windows XP MCE!
The default graphics card driver does not work, so I downloaded the new driver for VISTA from Toshiba.
Don't just install! I always get the following message: "the NVIDIA installer didn't find all the drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. The installation program will now stop. »
We know what the problem might be?
Did someone encountered the same situation?

    It's really frustrating...

    Thank you

  • Satellite P300-1AE - card upgrade memory

    Hai,

    I own a number of satellite P300-1AE PSPCCE-00K003BT.
The specifications of the product on the memory of this laptop are:
    Standard: 4 096 (2 048 + 2 048) MB
    Max at: 8 192 MB
    Technology: DDR2 RAM (800 MHz)

    I had the following problem:
I'm not able to find the specifications to improve my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB.
I have download some programs of + capital + for example, they said the follow-up:
My max memory is 4 GB
    Installed current 4 GB
    Places available: N.A.
    DDR PC2-6400
("our system scanner could not make a complete match")

On every single site, I'm going to purchase memory upgrade like kingston or crucial... I can't find my P300 laptop-1AE between the other toshiba, I can't also chose a more general option for the P300.

Also on the toshiba site I found after a long search: 4 GB memory PC2 DDR2 (800 MHz), but then again... The P300 or more specific to my 1AE P300 is not in the list compatible models.

If at this point I got very confused which memory I need to buy to upgrade for a total of 8 GB of RAM... I don't want to waste money to buy the bad...
I even started to think that I could have more than 2 Bank for memory slots in my laptop? I started my BIOS and all he said was "total memory: 4 096 MB", so this has not helped me be...

    If concrete...
Should I replace the cards of 2 x 2 GB (installed) 2 x 4 GB cards? or do I have to buy 2 x another 2 GB and put in 2 other still empty slots? Or do I only 2 slots?

If I solved this problem... those who do I need to install? What are the specs?

I hope that my question is not too complicated, I really hope someone can help out me!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

According to specification for laptop, your laptop can be upgraded up to 8 GB. Toshiba recommends the use of the 4 GB Ram module compatible with PA3670U-1M4G part number.

My advice to you is: buy high quality RAM and you will have no problem as a lot of other people who want to save money and report subsequent here on compatibility issues. You can check this thread and you will find that most of them have problems with the essential modules.

Buy RAM from Kingston of high quality and you will have no problems.

  • Satellite Pro A100 - card reader no longer works

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A100 - PSAACE-008002EN, that I bought a month ago, its worked perfectly so far and has been fantastic to use.

The main part that I use is the memory located on the front card reader, I have used it with SD, MMC and cards XD for my pda and cameras, until now, it worked well, but recently, I was music transfer etc for my Sony PSP Memory Stick using a Memorystick Pro Duo Pro adapter so that the card fits properly in the slot and it works very well.

All of a sudden the laptop can no more read on my MS card, I tried the card in a usb card reader and it works perfectly with or without the adapter. The laptop card reader reads cards SD MMC and XD, still perfectly fine but when I framed my memorystick, it shows the stick as being there in my computer, but when I click on the dialog box appears and says that there is no disc?

I tried to install the latest drivers but it does not work, any help is appreciated

    Thank you very much

    Rich

I found this information and first of all, I want to put a list of supported cards:

SD (support of multiple Digital Media Card slot) capacity 8MB - 2GB
Memory Stick (supported by several Digital Media Card slot) capacity 8 to 256 MB
    photo 16-1 GB xD card
Memory Stick 8 to 256 MB
Memory Stick Pro 256 MB to 2 GB
    MultiMediaCard 8 MB - 1 GB

According to this list, the Memory Stick Pro Duo is not supported. But you used an adapter.
But maybe this is a reason why the card reader cannot read the MS cards more.

What you can do is to remove the card from the Device Manager reader, and after new restart try to install this new device
