• Satellite 5200: Question on TouchPad scroll function

  My Satellite 5200 Series has a scroll wheel PHYSICS to the title of the two touchpad buttons 'the mouse'. I found a useful feature heavily but cannot find all the current models that have preserved it.

  It was rejected?

  Is there another way to scroll with newer machines?

  I would rather not add an external mouse because it blocks a precious USB port AND I actually use my laptop outside on my KNEES.

  Most modern laptops using a touch pad have a scrolling function software (which can be disabled if you wish) to control automatic scrolling. This is very useful for navigation text in Word documents or web pages etc., the technique (when enabled) is to set the top left or right of the touchpad to 'activate' and by touching this area temporarily, it will change the pointer of the foam to indicate the auto scroll option. Then only, drag the pointer slightly down and the screen starts to scroll until you tap the key again.

  A manual scroll mechanism is also available and can be used simply by stroking the right side of the touchpad (down to scroll down and up to scroll to the top) and the bottom of the touchpad to scroll left and right.

  I find these features useful, but I know other people who find them extremely irritating. It is useful to check.

  Hello, I have installed new windows xp on my satellite 5200 701 and I need some drivers... found some on windows update, but they were are the other? have you used this automatic search for toshiba on serch manuale of drivers on the support page and page? seems that my dosent satellite need drivers? can't find them anywere? and what abot the bios? no way to get there? I want to upgrade bios as well!

• Question on the LCD Inverter for Satellite 5200-902

  I would like you (if possible) to inform me about the voltage characteristics of input/output of the inverter LCD to my laptop computer Satellite 5200-902.
  I need to check if the backlight bulb is powered correctly, because there is no backlight.

  Parts of my ups codes/numbers are:
  G71C00011121
  HBL-0284
  K1278365
  which seems to me meet the Toshiba part numbers P000354880. Please inform me concerning my inverter Toshiba part number, I found on the internet also the P000439470, with code G71C00011221, which is supposed to be the replacement of the P000354880 (G71C00011121).
  I also found the G71C00011121 but with different codes concerning the HBL-xxxx and 12xxxxx. Is this a problem or are all compatible with my laptop LCD G71C00011121 (SHARP LQ150U1LA03 P000374340)

  So, could you give me the following information:
  1. the characteristics of voltage input/output of the inverter LCD (HBL-0284, G71C00011121, K1278365)
  2. If the P000354880 is the part number for my ups.
  3. If the P000439470 has replaced the P000354880 and has an identical output.
  4. If the codes HBL-xxxx and? Â? 12xxxxx G71C00011121 of significance in the case where I have to replace my inverter.

  Have you checked if your laptop computer (BIOS) supports booting from an external USB drive? I doubt it would be possible on old Satellite 5200. If you exchange your CD-ROM drive. You can look on eBay for the part of second hand, they are a little cheaper. :)

  I really need your help to upgrade my toshiba Satellite 5200 801 (model: PS520E-31P1D-EN), basically it's the version specification factory (technical instructions on the link below)

  What I want is to get faster internal memory, you can buy for this model (currently I have two default 256 mb DDR 266 MHz CL2.5 memory sticks). Will probably do a gig of memory (I could have more, but it depends on the price).
  As well, I want to spend the HD to 160 gig (about), as well as get a faster hard drive then the current 60gig 4200 RPM Hitachi HD (as soon as possible for the specifications of my laptop).

  You can upgrade the Satellite 5200 801 memory and HARD drive.
  S for laptop computer memory can be improved up to 1 GB of RAM. So you can use 2 x 512 MB PC2100 DDR - RAM modules.

  In my opinion, you can use the modules of memory from different manufacturers, but the module must support these specifications: 200-Pin PC2100 (266 MHz) DDR SODIMM
  I suppose you could also use a 400 Mhz because the laptop supports a 400 Mhz FSB too.

  I think that an upgrade of the IDE 160 GB HARD disk is not possible. To my knowledge, the BIOS can support such massive size of the HARD drive. But this is only my personal opinion. If I was you I would try a smaller HDD like 100 GB or 120 GB.

  Hi, I have a satellite 5200-903d winxp sp2, and now when I insert a blank dvd, it appears like a full cdrom. Iused to use drag / drop and dvdshrink/nero with no problems. now, it seems to go through the motions of burning, but still left with a blank dvd. any help will be appreciated.

  In my opinion, your DVD player is faulty. The position of the laser for reading and writing is not the same. It will be interesting to find out, you can watch DVD movies and if all DVD media can be read correctly. Try to remove the drive from Device Manager. Let the operating system detects the drive again and test it.

  I put t know if you have the original Tools & Utilities CD for this camera. If so there must be advice that the common modules (V.5.03.00) must be installed as a first step, before you install any other tool or utility. This order of the facilities is very important because the common modules is a kind of module which is very important for the other features of the tools.

  Also check out this CD if there is some sort of html file with installation instructions. If you can't find anything please post again. Maybe we can find something to help you.

  This is my first post on this forum. I have a Satellite 5200 701 for 3 years now. I can't watch movies on my TV. I could use this function in the past.

  Last November, I formatted my laptop with CD from Toshiba. As I didn't have a TV, I tried not using the TV function. But now that I have a (different) TV, I tried to use it without success.
  When I press Fn + F5, nothing happens. When I go to the selection of the screen, I can select the 2nd display but in "Advanced", I can't find the same features I've had in the past (before formatting). I don't have the Nview utility in "Advanced"...
  Is this a driver problem? NVIDIA, Toshiba or Microsoft? Problem of material...?

  I don't know how to solve this problem.

  The model number should be placed ant the bottom of the unit.
  There you should find a label with the serial number and the name of your unit.

  I understand that your problem is that your subwoofer is not working properly. You reinstall the driver and additional of your CD of tools & utilities software or website of toshiba? (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com)

  Also, you can check in Control Panel sound and Audio devices. It should be the Yamaha AC - XG WDm Audio setting as default device in AUDIO.

  Or another suggestion, check under System Device Manager in the control panel and check if the devices work properly!

  It could also possible that your subwoofer is inadmissible and must be changed by a partner of Serivce!

  Recently downloaded the Opera browser & find scrolling Synaptics stopped working!
  All other functions seem good & scrolling is always fine with MS Explorer
  Can someone tell me if this can be fixed?
