  • Satellite A100-290 (PSAA8) LAN driver cannot be installed

    Hello together!

I just bought a Satellite A100 - 290 (PSAA8) and tried to install the Ethernet controller and network with no result. Prof. WinXP can't find the driver.

I downloaded the Chipset utility, installed, but this is not enough. I still have the questionmark next to these devices in Device Manager.

The LAN drivers I downloaded seem not to be good, because windows cannot install them.

I tried to reinstall the Chipset stuff (but it just says: "full"), but it does not work.

    Could you please help me?

    Hello

Which driver did you use and where did you download this driver?
On the Toshiba driver page, you will also find installation instructions.
    You must follow this order!
On the page are also 2 placed LAN drivers.
8.0.21.101 and 9.0.24 version. You should check them both. Maybe one of them will work

    Hello

ACPI-> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
ACPI defines hardware and software interfaces that allow focus on the OS configuration and power management to enumerate and configure motherboard devices.
For example: ACPI is necessary for the standby and hibernation mode.

Now your question; the new BIOS has been updated and configured to using VISTA.
It seems that VISTA was not compatible with the previous version of BIOS because the ACPI interface. Now you can install Vista on the laptop, but it seems that you need a driver. Possibly new chipset driver version might help. But as you probably know, the drivers are not available at this time. Unfortunately

    Hi Jon

According to the description of portable computer, you must be from Venezuela. Am I wrong? ;)

I don't really know if Toshiba there is a support page for South America but a few guys out of here have had the same problem as you. I can't say for sure if you can use the update of the BIOS of the United States support site. I recommend you to call the partner of service authorized in your country. They work with this stuff and I'm sure they will be able to give you good info to 100%.

The addresses and telephone numbers, which you will find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite A100-680: PnP BIOS Extension missing driver

I searched for about one hour now, other threads from reading and the search manually through the database of the driver, but I can't find any useful information.

As you can see from the following screenshot...
    ... I am missing a driver.

I'm sure that the driver is listed, but it can also be saved under another name. This isn't something I'm infamiliar of searched a lot on other sites (Acer, HP, etc.) for drivers of other computers in my work.

    Anyway.
The reason why this driver is missing on my * Satellite A100-680 * is that my antivirus detects it as a keylogger. This is not the first time that this happens, and I can easilly restore virus vault if I want to. However, this is something I really wish to do.

This problem also occurred with some of my audio drivers earlier, as well as the driver associated with TOSHIBA Hotkey functions. (Solved).

In order to check for me if my antivirus detects a false positive or not, I would like to find the driver and install it.
If after this my antivirus detects it as a keylogger, it was just all along.
If it detects it as a keylogger, I treat the result as a false positive and add it to the white list.

My Toshiba is a Satellite A100-680, running Win XP Home edition.
The version of the BIOS is "Phoenix Technologies LTD. 1.70, 11.05.2006" (from msinfo) (whether this info is helpful at all is beyond me...)
    SMBIOS version 2.31 (new msinfo.)

If you need additional information in order to help me, please indicate what information you need.

Have you tried to remove this device in the Device Manager list and restart the laptop?
Try this! After restarting again the operating system must search for the driver and must be reinstalled this device automatically.

By the way: Satellite A100-680 belongs to the PSAA9E series.
The European driver Toshiba page provides up-to-date BIOS 6, 00 - WIN for this device
Recommends the installation of the Modules common to XP and BIOS update.

Note: for drivers, please choose 'Archive' types of products

It doesn't sound good. I did the BIOS update on two laptops A100 and everything was OK. Sorry, but I think that you will not be able to do anything alone. I recommend you contact the service authorized in your country as soon as possible.

  • Re: Satellite A100-662 - new compatible battery

    Hello

    I have a satellite A100 - 662.
    The battery is a Li-ion battery / / model PA3399U-2BRS number / / DC 10.8V / 4000 mAh.
My battery is flat. It is impossible to recharge. The charger is ok.
I want to buy a new battery, but I think that this model does not close.
You know a model equivalent and compatible?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

It is quite easy to find information on a new battery.

Look on the Toshiba site, you can search for this type of accumulators.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com => devices & Services-online Options & accessories-online Options and accessories homepage.
There you can choose your laptop (Satellite A100) and you will see all the power options and a list of compatible batteries.

  • Satellite A100 (PSAARA) spontaneous BIOS password

    Hi guys,.

I have a problem, my Satellite A100 spontaneously put its own passwords BIOS and HARD drive. He also asked a fingerprint on startup (not on windows).

My finger print works now, but for some reason, the laptop has put passwords in BIOS and HARD drive on his own, and he calls for them to start.

The laptop is out of warranty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards
    Scott.

Alone! Strange. I use laptop computers for 10 years and have never heard of something like that.
Anyway, if you want to remove password BIOS Toshiba service, you must visit and they can do it for you.

Password BIOS is reasonable security feature and cannot be discussed in the public forum. I know that you realize that, right?

  • Satellite A100-090 request BIOS password I never set

    Hi all

I bought 1 year there is a Satellite A100-090 which I was very happy off until now.
All of a sudden, when I try to start it, I wonder a BIOS password that I never put, not BIOS nor Windows.

No one could access the PC, because he's locked all the time and there is no one living with me.

Details: previously, when I started it I had a blue bar + "press DELETE to access the settings, F12 to start... '. ' etc, it's gone.
I tried TOSHIBA and everything that came to my mind, has not worked.

    Please help me! :-(

Looks like it is a very common problem :(

  • Satellite L670-143 - new BIOS available, but what's new?

Since yesterday I get a notice from Toshiba Bulletin Board that a new version of the BIOS is available, version 2.30 - WIN dated from 14/02/12.

Given that I am trying hard and wonder if Toshiba allows users to change the Wifi card by default, I'm interested in what this BIOS update is needed for, if it wasn't for allowing users to install their preferred Wifi adapter I'm totally happy with my current version of BIOS and won't update something that brings something of new or improve anything.

For this purpose: is their any page where people can find out what is new in a new update of the BIOS?
Everything we always get is compressed form. Exe and prechewed message "this update of the Bios adds increased system functionality" on the page to download... but nothing concrete information.

    Hello Moose

In one thing, I agree with you: don t change the BIOS if there is no former radical problem or the system in general. Many people here have reported on the various problems after BIOS update so if you are happy with your laptop and if everything goes perfectly don t change anything.

Problem is that on the European download page you will find information on the update of the BIOS. In other words there is nothing new in the latest version of the BIOS.
It is interesting that Toshiba US offers you this info so I m me where difference between offered things in US and Europe is to ask. I m not an expert for this stuff but there may be reasons relating to the protection of law or customers. I put t know.

What you can do if you have a little time, is to visit the US page under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp > download, find a similar pattern with the same BIOS update and check if you can find useful information here.

At the end once more: don t change anything, if everything works well. I have 2 years old Satellite P500 and use with BIOS and original recovery image. It works perfectly. Best Toshiba laptop I've had over the last 10 years.

  • Satellite A100-828 - new module of memory does not

    Hello

I recently bought 2x2gb modules for my A100-828. However, I can not any memory module to adapt to the second extension slot. I tried both the new modules in it that the old module of 512 MB which was originally in the laptop. The new memory is certainly compatible as two new modules work in the first expansion slot.

Memory does not seem to fit properly in the second slot (I put in a good sense ad. it won't push back.)

Anyone have ideas, what is the problem?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

I put t know why do not the module in the second slot.
The two sites are completely identical and also support the same standard.

I think you used it just not compatible modules, or you have tried inserting modules backwards
    AFAIK you need DDR2 667 MHz (* PC2-5300 *) module SODIMM 200 PIN.

    What module do you use?

  • Satellite A100-646 - new replacement DVD drive

    Hi all

I need to replace the dvd from my laptop.
I am looking for spare parts on the web, bat, I can't find anything.

Can anyone suggest me were buy a compatible dvd player?

    I write from the Italy.

    Thank you

    Concerning

    Hey,.

It is important that you purchase a compatible CD/DVD player because not all readers are compatible with all laptops.

In your user manual, you will find a list of compatible readers you should check. These discs are pre-tested and will work/adjustment.
If you're looking for with Google, you will find some online stores where you can buy it I think. An alternative you can also ask a service provider directly, allowed that guys know this drive is compatible:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

    Good luck! :)

I get an email from Toshiba saying that a download file call VAP... zip is ready for download.

What I've done twice now, but when I unpack I find three folders on the buttons, but no readme file to tell one to use.

I have A100-049, can someone please tell me where one of these files that I need to install.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Keith (Porkyuk)

    Hello Keith

I'm sure that your laptop has 6 buttons. If you check THIS photo, you'll see two buttons have two parts and function as two buttons. Because of this, there are 6 buttons.

If your Satellite looks like this in the photo please use 6 buttons folder.

    Good bye

I see a new update of the Bios, and my question is:
This new victory of update 2.00 solve this problem?

    Is this upgrate secure?

    > This new victory of update 2.00 solve this problem?
Question: Lighting of the keyboard work on the first day of purchase?

If so, the question is not related to the BIOS.

Second: the lighting can be turned on and off in the BIOS.
Have you checked the settings there?

Third: have you checked something in the software?
Maybe reinstalling the VAP (value added package) would be useful
