Satellite A100-532: the microphone volume is extremely low

I just bought Satellite A100-532 and I have a problem with the audio input. I can't use the microphone to chat with my friend on msn or even record my voice on the hard drive because the volume is extremely low.

I tried to turn the volume on the desktop and on the RealTek HD audio Manager, but nothing helped. Microphone works perfectly fine, as I hear myself on the speakers.

Normally, with my old laptop (M30 series) I could use sound recorder to record the music that I play using Winamp or WinMediaPlayer, but for this new laptop it detects all the sounds at all... just silence.

Please notify.

Hello

You should also check the volume controls in the "Audio & Sound devices" in the Panel.
In the 'Volume' tab it please go to "Advanced".
Then a "Volume control" should appear.
Check if all controls are set at a high level.
In addition, enter the 'options' and 'properties' and activate all volume controls.
Also change to "recording" and activate here also all the controls.
Additional you must check if the "check" is set to high.

Use the 'Advanced' mic option and play with thrust mic settings.
I'm sure that you will find the best settings for your mic record

Since an external device works well I'm afraid that the build-in microphone is actually of minor quality... what a disappointment

So far, nothing has changed. I continue to go all my encounters with my laptop and this webcam with microphone build - in which I used the last in 2005... It's ridiculous... Don't know how many times I have had to explain to my colleagues why I use this external microphone... • The 8.1 Windows USB microphone volume is extremely low

I have a Samson C01U USB microphone. It's a plug-and-play microphone. There is no driver for it. There is no firmware for it. You just plug in, and it works.

This microphone has always worked perfectly. When I used Windows 7, I put the volume of it at about 40-50% and everything seemed crisp, clear and strong. On Windows 8, it's incomprehensible unless I put the volume to 90%, but even at this moment, he is not strong enough. Providing 100% results in a lot of noise in the background.

This is not the first time, someone raised this issue because it is very common to all individuals with a plug-and-play USB microphone:

Has there never been a fix for this problem?

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

As you mentioned that you have checked the matter with another micro but you still face this problem. We already tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers. I suspect that this problem is a hardware problem. Check the issue with a local technician.

  • The microphone volume

Are there known issues with the microphone volume fluctuating on the device? My duties sometimes report a wide range of amplitudes for ambient noise even if the actual noise levels did not change significantly. I'm pretty confident my algorithms are correct and bug free.

    Is this a known issue?

    Scott

I think that the microphone has AGC (automatic gain control).  A few months ago, I took video with the playbook of a violent storm with heavy rains and record, you could hear the rain, but when loud Thunder came, you could hear it very well (no cutting), but we couldn't hear the rain.  Like the sound of Thunder disappeared, the "rain" volume came back upward.  It's so good that I think that it's hardware and not software MCO.

  • Satellite A100 PSAAR - the hail its Windows 7

    Hey guys,.

I have a Satellite A100 (PSAAR) that I was running a beta version of Windows 7 on (I had updated to Vista).

When I decided to format it and install a new version of Windows 7, audio has become really intestine.

Is there a driver Toshiba I have not installed... or if anyone else has experienced the same thing?

    Thank you!

    Hello

I doubt that you need no additional driver.
It seems that the sound card is properly recognized in Device Manager. so you don t need the sound card drivers

I think you should check the sound volume control in Control Panel-> sound control.

Check if all controls are set at a higher level

  • Satellite A100 - save the battery when the laptop in a longer retention

Hi, I have a * Satellite A100 * about 4-5 years. There was no intensive use (it's hospitality do not work) and is in good shape.

I go there for at least 6 months and will PLAN A - most likely need to put the computer in stock, that is to say. No one will be able to access. PLAN B - there is a very low probability that someone could "baby sit" it but it can't count on him.

Can anyone suggest what is the best way to deal with the LiOn battery in the above two cases?

Can I remove or leave in the laptop?

Is there a way to stop the battery completely dead while in storage / is not not in use?

    Thanks... any advice appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion it makes no difference if you put the battery 6 months or leave it in the computer. In both cases, the battery must be charged because it also loses power when it s turned.

If nobody is using the computer you can remove the battery, otherwise and someone would use you can install the battery.

Please tell me what to do with this problem.

    Thank you!!!

    Hello

There must be something wrong with the OS files or registry entries.
Maybe some background process cannot be closed and therefore the shutdown process does not
Microsoft has released a useful document about solve the shutdown problems in Windows XP.

Please check this box. Maybe this helps:

  • Satellite A100-999: the process of recovery (without recovery DVD/CD)?

    Hi all

Here is my GOAL: I want to reinstall the original Windows Vista as it was when we bought this laptop.

My PROBLEM: we never managed to create recovery DVDs (just after the purchase), always gave an error... today and to my surprise, I can't find any operating system recovery tool is...

    1. to the power of power off: I tried the button "0" (as read on the internet), but did nothing special...

2 - I tried then in the options menu (after F8 on reboot): FIX YOUR COMPUTER
Then (after choosing the Spanish language and the connection as a user), I tried to launch the WINDOWS RESTORE COMPLETE lo, but he said that no CD/DVD... (no current number with this = CD/DVD drive works fine)

3 - I then tried another interesting option: RECOVERY HHD (more or less like this, as I have in Spanish version)... Just a pop-up open (maybe on the DVD recovery) but without any touch of the process...

    More complicated now, isn't?

    4 INFO:
I could find the hidden partition and display it. It contains files and folders: a record 'source', 'boot.sdi"if I remember correctly... and maybe more...
=> I copied on a USB key and registered on a new DVD (and the image.iso of them as well) and repeat points 2 and 3 above, but nothing has changed... (the content of this DVD is read without problem on another laptop)

    => QUESTIONS:
-This folder and files (found in the hidden partition) means that the recovery is still here?
-Are there a special file.exe or the procedure to follow in order to be able to launch these files found?
(my ultimate last chance: order than the recovery CD of Toshiba, if it is still possible)

    Thanks in advance
    S.

    > I understand now that these files (hidden partition) are those used for the display of this special menu (after you click REPAIR MY COMPUTER) with the COMPLETE WINDOWS RESTORE, RECOVERY HHD...

    > Is that correct?

No, the small hidden partition is created by the Windows system, and these aren't the recovery disc files.
Toshiba Recovery disk files are placed (in general) on the D partition, it is not hidden.

    > So I guess I should have a COLLECTION case somewhere... but I read in some messages of this type of comment: 'the series A100 not fitted the HARD drive recovery partition ".

That could be just because the A100 is old series and drive HARD recovery was not available at the moment
As far as I know the series A200 and new series were equipped with recovery option.

    > If not available, I'm already so on this last-chance-step explained above? This means to order the DVD of recovery on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Here is the link to the page where you can order a recovery for the EU Toshiba notebook disk series but I don't very well if you'll be able to order this disc don't due to the age of the laptop of m.

  • Satellite A100 loads the operating system correctly after the recovery procedure

    Hello

I'm in trouble... I used the recovery CD last week after my laptop developed problems. After the recovery procedure, when I turn on the pc, it loads directly in mode 'Owner' - the pilot of the internet has no charge, Norton AV, supplied with the pc does not load. Basically, it's a shadow of his former self.

And when I try and start the recovery process, that it doesn't... it does not read the disc.
I know that the recovery process did not work properly cos when I look in C: it shows that 60 GB of data is present on the hard disk, so the recovery is not cleaned the hard drive at all.

The only way I can describe it, is that the pc is in some sort of limbo. I can't access the original account I created.

The recovery disk is still okay because I "explored" the drive on another computer and it contains all the data.

    Help, please.

Looks a bit the problem I have with an A100 recovery disk. Mine formatted PC, unpack
a load of stuff and then freezes.
    See...
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=31292

Like you, I can read the DVD in another PC. I wonder if there is a batch of duff of recovery DVD?

I think I'll try to install XP from a different installation disk. It'll be a bit of a pain in the neck
because it will not authenticate with MS, but at least he's going to prove whether or not the hardware of the laptop is duff.

I'll post back here when (if) I get anywhere.

  • New Satellite A100 - charge the battery before turning on?

    Hello

I'm new in the world of laptops and I will get an entry level Toshiba A100
Today, however, I am worried as to the time, I first want to charge the battery for 8 or so hours before starting the machine for the first time?

I ask because I heard that you can compromise the ability to charge using the battery when it is
already low (the 1st time) and configuration of the laptop, is it true?

    Your help is very appreciated.

    See you soon

    Hello

The fact is that the new laptops also come with new batteries and the batteries are empty. All laptop manufacturers offer portable computers with batteries.
    It s not unusual State.
Of course, you can connect the AC adapter and start the laptop computer. While working on the laptop, the battery may charge.

  • Satellite A100-543: the battery appears dead

My battery died yesterday after I plugged it to my computer. In fact the computer turn off at this time. A burning smell has occurred and after, I tried to start the computer again and it works but the battery seems dead. When I'm on windows with the battery, it is written that it does not load, but I have my doubts because the computer recognizes that there is the battery.

So I would like to know if this could be something between the battery and the motherboard that is dead or if I can use my warranty. The strange thing is that other people use the same plug that I used without problem, I think, so that the battery has a problem before.

    Thank you.

Don t know exactly what's wrong, but it certainly looks like a hardware malfunction.
The A100 is a new machine and the guarantee must be valid and must cover all the trouble with the material.

Take my advice and don t spend a lot of time for the investigative measures which could be bad or not.
Simply contact the ASP in your country and explain the problem guys

I think everything should be done for free!

  • After the memory upgrade in Satellite A100-1401E the system freezes

The laptop was initially delivered with only 512 MB of RAM.

I installed 1 GB of RAM Kingston (part No. KTT533D2 / 1 g) into the remaining free memory slot. However, whenever I turn on the computer, the system freezes within minutes and I have to re - start.

Is it because there is an uneven amount of memory in the 2 slots? I have 512 MB in each slot or 1 GB in each slot, etc.?

    I would like your advice.

Have you tried to change places and put 1 GB of RAM in slot A?

  • Satellite A100: update the display driver

My laptop is equipped with an Ati Radeon X 1600 graphics card. I tried to update the driver, so I downloaded the 2 drivers who agree to my system. My problem is the same for both drivers:
If I try to install the driver by double-clicking the "Setup.exe" I get an error message: something about the very large number of characters in the installation folder (it is written in Greek, and I don't know how to translate).
If I try to install the driver by using the Device Manager-> maps-> update driver procedure (by following the instructions on http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ6701IN000GR01.htm) I get a "file not found" message on the files.
I thought to uninstall all Ati drivers and then the installation of the new, but what happens if the problem persists?
    Help, please!

    Hi Doc

I didn t understand where you found these updates. On the download page of Toshiba or ATI?

If you download drivers on the Toshiba download page, please be sure that you have chosen the right laptop (PSAxxx) model.

  • Satellite A100-003: the Vista Explorer displays blank DVD

A few months after his dvd player, I bought my laptop started to behave very strange. Right now, most of the cds and dvds that I get is recognised as void by windows Explorer (I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit English, bought with the machine).

The strange thing in the story is that windows Explorer only seemed to have the problem, since other programs such as recorders and media players (VLC, infrarecorder etc.) read and browse the contents of the discs normally. My drive is kept clean and the laptop has never suffered a blow.

I contacted Toshiba support here in Greece and they told me that it is a known problem of Vista with the particular drive and there is nothing I can do about (how do Linux to start?).
Is this only happens to me? All available patches?

    Hi mate,

Maybe I'm a good link that might help you with your problem. It s an article on Vista and from training DVDs:
