Satellite A100 - adding RAM memory

I use the Satellite A100-599 noetbook with memory-1 GB - 533 Mhz, the system supports upgrade memory up to 4 GB.

I need to add another 2 GB of ram, but I found it only with 667 Mhz, the question is I can it add ram 2 GB - 667 MHz for 1 GB - 533 MHZ existing ram.
Kind regards

You can do this, but the 2 GB 667 MHz module will only work at 533 Mhz.
The slower module would lock the module more quickly and would allows the module to operate only at 533 MHz

  • Satellite A100-811 - maximum memory capacity

I have an old A100-811 Satellite with Windows XP SP3. It has 1 GB of memory (2 x 512). I want to improve the memory. What should I do?

    1. put another memory of 2 GB so the total is 2.5 GB (will I get in trouble for using two types of 512 MB and 2 GB memory?)

    2 put 2 x 1 GB total 2 GB (for better styling?)

    3. put 2 x 2 GB. But will I have the 4 GB memory full or only 3 GB because of the limitations of memory Win Xp?

Do I need a BIOS update for this?

Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hi skga100,

The maximum capacity of RAM in Satellite A100-811 is 4 GB. This means that you can install 2 GB in each slot.

Usually for Windows XP 2 GB is enough but I want to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, you should think about 3 or 4 GB

In your case, I would buy a 2GB memory module. If you are on the safe side.
Why? If you want to install Vista or Windows 7 later, you can buy a second memory module and keep your 2 GB module. Who s the easiest way. :)

And no, upgrading the BIOS is not necessary.

    I have laptop Satellite A100-011. And I want to improve his memory. It has 1 GB of ram DDR2 533 hz. My questions are the following;
    1. how many ram slots have?
2-can we add 2 GB of ram DDR2 533 hz more, if so, will total 3GB? Or shoud I replace 2 GB 1 GB?
3 - ? It s possible to use DDR3 Rams or different frequency as 800 Hz?
4 - What brand should I use to upgrade? Kingston etc?
5 - ? f I upgrade the memory of my laptop, can I install windows7 32 bit (I have windows vista at the moment)

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

I'll try to give you some answers:

    # According to specification of laptop there two RAM slots
    # Your laptop can handle with 4 GB max, then you can do whatever you want and it depends on how much RAM you want to have inside. You can buy a module of RAM of 2 GB and 3 GB of RAM. That should be enough to work with Vista or Win7 even. Of course, you can upgrade to maximum and buy 2 X 2 GB.
    # It has no meaning at all. If the speed of the FSB of your motherboard is 53 MHz why use 800 MHZ modules. Your laptop will not be faster because of Rams with more MHz.
    # Yes, Kingston product high quality and using Kingston modules, you should not have compatibility problems.
    # I put t see any reason why you shouldn't be able to install Win7, but before this visit Toshiba support page and check if your phone model is supported for Win7.

  • Satellite A100-294: what memory should I buy

I have (only) 512 MB of RAM and I need to upgrade. Should what memory I buy? What models, which could be found on the market, I could choose? And do I have to have the same memory, for example. 512 + 512 MB or 1 GB + 1 GB (or even the same producer?) for best performance, working properly, or something? [Please help me, I need to upgrade as soon as POSSIBLE and I could not afford any possible error:]

    The laptop is Satellite A100-294

    Hello

I hope that I will receive some reward you points because I think I can provide useful answers ;)
The laptop seems to be the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM fragmented into several modules.
You can use these modules from different manufacturers, but in my opinion it s better to buy a module of brand instead of module without name due to the better performance

This site provides a few compatible Kingston modules for Satellite A100-294
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=24854&ft=m&St=3

You can also mix the modules; I mean, you could use 512 + 1024 or 1024 + 1024 or 512 + 512. All these options are possible

  • Satellite A100-626 - maximum memory supported?

    Hello

I have a Satellite A100-626 with 2 GB of RAM.

As indicated in the record of this model:
    standard: 1 024 (512 + 512) MB
    maximum extension: 4 096 MB
    technology: DDR2 RAM (533 MHz)
    expansion module sizes: 256, 512, 1 024 MB

It is said that it can go up to 4 GB, but only shows module sizes up to 1 Gb. (maybe 2 GB modules did not exist at the time).
Anyone know or tested if it is possible to install 2 2 GB modules or 1 module 4 GB to achieve the maximum of 4 GB extension?
Also, it supports up to 800 MHz of frequency? If not, what is the maximum?
And finally, DDR3 works on this model?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

    Hello

I found this Toshiba product page:
    [Satellite A100-626 | http://pt.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=PT&DISC_MODEL=0 & ACTION = PRINT_WITH_BACK & BV_UseBVCookie = Yes & PRODUCT _ID = 119571]

It s a Portuguese Toshiba page because I believe that this model of laptop is designed for the Portuguese market.
You will find information that it of possible to upgrade the RAM to 4 GB (2 x 2 GB RAM).

But note; the 32-bit operating system will not be able to use the full 4 GB of RAM.
Just the 6 bit OS can use and recognize all of the 4 GB

    > Also, is it supports up to 800 MHz of frequency?
It depends on the chipset. If the chipset allows that the then the memory at 800 Mhz would go to 800 Mhz otherwise they would be pointing down.

    > And finally, DDR3 works on this model?
No, as much as I know just the DDR2 modules are supprted.

    No, certainly not!

If you wish, you can upgrade the memory on the Satellite A100-712 and the guarantee will be available!

These RAM modules must be compatible:

    DDR2-533 256 MB (PA3389U - 2M 25)

  • Re: Satellite A100-667 - RAM and CPU upgrade

Hi all, I am considering upgrading RAM on my * SATELLITE A100-667 * (PSAARE-02700DIT). Is anyone know the maximum amount of ram I can install it? What clock is supported? (553, 667...)

And what about CPU? The laptop comes with an Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz on Intel i945PM chipset.

Thanks in advance for any information.

    P.

    Hello

I think that you should also check your RAM upgrades for user manuals. As far as I know that you can upgrade your laptop with 4 GB of RAM. Therefore, you can use DDR2-533 modules. You buy from an authorized service provider or Kingston modules also recommendable.

Upgrading the CPU is not supported. BIOS and motherboard are tested only with the preinstalled CPU.

  • Upgrade Satellite A100-200 RAM question

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-200, I want to move to 4 GB.
    I install 2 x 2 GB kingston kvr667d2s5/2 GB pc-5300 ddr2 667 mhz.

Every time I make a control sites Internet it tells me to install PC24200 ddr2 533.
The above will work even as the 4200 ddr2 533hz as those that I want are a lot cheaper.
    Thank you.

Will be two sets of ram pergorm exactly the same thing as long as they are paired.

    Thank you

    Hello

It depends on your bus (FSB) front.
If the modules of 667 Mhz FSB support 667 Mhz then the PC5300 inserted will be run with maximum efficiency (667 Mhz).

But if supports FSB, only modules of 533 Mhz and RAM will run at 533 Mhz only even using the fastest modules (PC5300)

So what you need to do is check the FSB value. You can install a hardware diagnostic tool (IE Everest home edition) to verify the FSB.

    See you soon

  • Satellite A100-233 - what memory I need?

    Hello

I have the Satellite A100-233 and I want to increase its memory. The question is, if my card MOM, can I put DDR2 memory with 667 MHZ speed or I use only 533 MHZ?

    Thank you

    Hello

It according to your chipset you ;)

If you want to just buy a second memory module, I'd be the same module as the first. So that you know its module is compatible with the laptop and normally two identical modules must be used in the book to avoid problems of incompatibility.

But as far as I know A100-233 can handle up to 667 MHz modules. If the first module runs with 533 MHz, the second module will work also on 533 MHz. This means that the modules are compatible downgrade.

  • Satellite A100 - 521 RAM upgrade only works with original RAM in place

I am trying to upgrade the memory to 2 GB, as described in the user manual.

The computer does not start with the two new modules inserted. It will start with 1 GB installed in each slot until the original 256 MB module is inserted in the drive on the right, but does not work when the two 1 GB modules are inserted. There are 2 slots and the maximum is 2 GB for this computer. It told me to update the BIOS that I have on this site, but did not work.

I am currently using 1 modules of 1 GB and 256 MB provided with the computer module. I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-521.

    Concerning

    Lucy x

    Hello!

The two new modules have the same specifications as the old module?

In my opinion, the new modules are perhaps not fully compatible with your laptop or are not compatible in Dual Channel mode.
What is the exact label of the two modules?

For the upgrade, you need DDR2-533 modules. I searched a bit using Google and the reference is PA3411U-1M1G.

  • Satellite A100-596 - RAM does not work in location B

After meeting with the blue screen of death, my A100-596 was out of service for some time. I decided to give it a last violin and had it work. I removed one of the modules of 512 MB ram and it works fine.

The problem is that if I put the RAM module the computer starts not (the same problem that he had). I used a program called CPUZ and it recognizes the RAM in two slots (if I insert the other when the computer started upward).

Why CPUZ recognizes the RAM, but windows does not start with it inserted or even to recognize.

I've played around with the RAM modules. Two of them work in the A slot but neither location B. The maximum extension of my motherboard is 2 GB, it means that I can't put a 2 GB module in one of the slots?

It seems strange that CPUZ fortunately sees the RAM in slot B, but windows does not start with it in.

    Help, please.

    > If I insert the other when the computer started upward
Really pass the RAM if the computer was started? Laughing out loud
I think that this is not a good idea. An upgrade of RAM should be done only if the computer or portable computer is turned off.

I put t understand why can CPU - Z can recognize the RAM but Windows not? To run CPU - Z, you must start Windows before.

However, I think that if both modules n t work in location B the slot is faulty.
Also if you can upgrade the laptop to 2 GB not using a module with 2 GB of memory. Use two modules with 1 GB for each module.

  • How does Satellite A100-886 RAM support?

I want to improve my A100-886; I want 2-4 GB of ram.
    Is this possible?

This real s. You may not use all of the 4 GB due to the 32 bit OS.
This is a limitation of the 32-bit system.

    Please check out this Toshiba knowledge base article that describes this problem;

  • Satellite A100 - 386 compatibility memory PSAA9

    Hi all!

I want to add some memory to my laptop and try a couple that works, but I get a few bugs because this seems to be related to the fact that I put pc5300 memory rather than pc4200 memory... The strange thing is that it works very well and only bugs when reading music and flash movies!

No one knows with certainty what type of memory can use... What is the most important actxually, him CAPAS (533) or the pc4200... How do I know what memory I can buy and keep in mind that it will work, even if I throw the real one if there are compatibility problems?

Thanks a lot for the tips!

You can delete this post, I was going the wrong way... Sorry...

  • Upgrade memory Satellite A100

    Hello
New to this. DOH. Put a "Legend" 1 GB memory upgrade (next to the existing 500 MB) in my A100 which acted slowly. Nothing seems to happen - in fact, still seems slower. The new does ' t memory appears under control panel - system... Does? I do another thing to implement and operate outside slotting inside?

    Thanks for any advice,
    Mark

    Hello Mark

I can just say that people have different experiences and very often give unreserved information. I can say that you can use different memory modules (another title) but it is recommended to put more in the slot A and module with a lower capacity in the B slot.

Whether you use 100% compatible modules you will have no problems and all described will not happen. With compatible modules the laptop will go faster and the RAM all will be displayed in system properties.

I do not know what Satellite A100 you, but for my second laptop Satellite A100-504, compatible memory modules are:

    DDR2-533 256 MB (PA3389U - 2M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-533 PA3412U - 2 M (51)
    1 GB OF DDR2-533 (PA3411U-2M1G)
Satellite A100 can handle with 4 GB RAM max. If you want to have high quality RAM modules, you can also buy Kingston RAM modules. Compatible modules you find under http://www.kingston.com/products/default.asp

    Good bye
