Satellite A100 T2400 upgrade memory

Bought a week ago, just to upgrade memory to 2048 MB (the manual says it can be increased up to 4096 MB) The A100 has already as came from the factory with two slots of 512, 1024 MB of ram, but... where are the other passers-by for the upgrade
memory? I ' have no problem space except those already occupied by the two
DDR2 512. Help, please

Manual

Hello

In this case, you must purchase 2 x 1024Mo module. The compatible module for your appliance is DDR2-533 1 GB (PA3411U-2M1G).

    > However when the original 512 MB sodimm is placed in one of the slots - anyone - either of the kvr etc. SODIMM work giving a total of 1.5 GB of ram.

Can't believe that! As far as I know this laptop was shipped only with a 512MB DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM module.
Of course you can improve the memory up to 2 GB using two modules 1024Mo.

Compatible memory that you can find here:

Well, what say, the CPU is hit you can find easily by using a material like Everest diagnostic program. It would provide useful information on your laptop hardware.

But to be honest, I'm very skeptical as to upgrade CPU on laptops.
If you have already modified several processors on laptops so you know that's not very simple and more complicated as the CPU upgrade on desktop computers.

  • Satellite A100-811 - maximum memory capacity

I have an old A100-811 Satellite with Windows XP SP3. It has 1 GB of memory (2 x 512). I want to improve the memory. What should I do?

    1. put another memory of 2 GB so the total is 2.5 GB (will I get in trouble for using two types of 512 MB and 2 GB memory?)

    2 put 2 x 1 GB total 2 GB (for better styling?)

    3. put 2 x 2 GB. But will I have the 4 GB memory full or only 3 GB because of the limitations of memory Win Xp?

Do I need a BIOS update for this?

Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hi skga100,

The maximum capacity of RAM in Satellite A100-811 is 4 GB. This means that you can install 2 GB in each slot.

Usually for Windows XP 2 GB is enough but I want to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, you should think about 3 or 4 GB

In your case, I would buy a 2GB memory module. If you are on the safe side.
Why? If you want to install Vista or Windows 7 later, you can buy a second memory module and keep your 2 GB module. Who s the easiest way. :)

And no, upgrading the BIOS is not necessary.

  • Satellite A100-294: what memory should I buy

I have (only) 512 MB of RAM and I need to upgrade. Should what memory I buy? What models, which could be found on the market, I could choose? And do I have to have the same memory, for example. 512 + 512 MB or 1 GB + 1 GB (or even the same producer?) for best performance, working properly, or something? [Please help me, I need to upgrade as soon as POSSIBLE and I could not afford any possible error:]

    The laptop is Satellite A100-294

    Hello

I hope that I will receive some reward you points because I think I can provide useful answers ;)
The laptop seems to be the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM fragmented into several modules.
You can use these modules from different manufacturers, but in my opinion it s better to buy a module of brand instead of module without name due to the better performance

This site provides a few compatible Kingston modules for Satellite A100-294
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=24854&ft=m&St=3

You can also mix the modules; I mean, you could use 512 + 1024 or 1024 + 1024 or 512 + 512. All these options are possible

    Best regards

  • Satellite A100-847 - upgrade advice

    Hello

I use the Satellite A100 - 847 (PSAA9E) for almost two years. 2 years warranty be over within a month, so I guees this is good time for an upgrade. I could use more RAM and a faster HARD drive (for purposes of CAD especially when I'm on the track) so I would like to know more about it.

    * What I already found out which is my laptop: *.
(if I'm wrong with something to say please)

    1) ... May take 2 DDR2-DIMM modules; 4 GB max; which means 2x2gb. I have already 2X512GB, and it is not enough.
-The question is what DDR2 memory! The FSB is running on 667 MHz, so I guess I should buy PC-5300/667 or even 6400/800?
-What is the best memory for my laptop? Who gets very hot! What model is pretty cool?

    2) ... At a Hitachi Travelstar 5 K 100, 2.5 ", 5400 RPM, 8 MB, 100 GB SATA cache. The capacity is enough for me, but it's far too slow. So I guess I should to a 7200 RPM 16 MB disk cache.
-The question here is my laptop support SATA2 or is - this just SATA1? What shlould buy?
-My laptop does support disk 7200 RPM?
-My laptop overheating with this drive?

    3) ... Could have a more efficient cooling system. Is there a solution to this?

    Thank you in advance,
    adambar

    Hello

Googling autour I ve found track information:

The computer has two SO DIMM slot comes standard with the DDRII 4200 module. He
supports PC2-4200 and use SO DIMM (DDRII SDRAM) leads to 1.8 V, accepting
BTO/CTO for your memory needs. It can integrate up to 4 GB of hand
    memory.
By using the following formats of memory modules:
    256 MB (16 M × 16 × 8 P) / 533/667 MHZ
    512 MB (32 M × 16 × 8 P) / 533/667 MHZ
    1024 MB (64Mx16x8P) / 533/667 MHZ

If you want to use the maximum RAM, you must use two 2 GB. Toshiba recommends the use
2 x 2 GB RAM DDR2 PA3513U-1M2G. An alternative to this RAM module are modules memory high quality Kingston .

On HARD drive, I can say follow:
HARD drive interface compliant to Serial ATA (for 40/60/80/100/120 GB).
The computer can accommodate a HARD drive of 2.5 inches with all the following storage capabilities:
    40 GB SATA (9.5 mm thick) (5 400 rpm)
    60 GB SATA (9.5 mm thick) (5 400 tr/min/7200 RPM)
    80 GB SATA (9.5 mm thick) (5 400 tr/min/7200 RPM)
    100 GB SATA (9.5 mm thick) (5 400 tr/min/7200 RPM)
120 GB (5400 RPM) SATA (9.5 mm thick)

As far as I know that SATA2 is backward compatible and theoretically, you can use it, but I'm not sure about this. If I were you, I would by SATA1 HDD.
As you can see, Toshiba has tested 7200 RPM hard drives with this model of laptop, and you can use it also.
Maybe not overheating, but I can imagine that the plastic cover will be hotter than before. Make sure just the laptop is placed correctly and that there is nothing blocking the cooling fan.

More efficient cooling system? I put t know what you mean exactly end-to-end you can try something like this.

  • Re: Satellite A100 - RAM upgrade

I'm looking at upgrading the Ram PC following Toshiba laptop: TOSHIBA Satellite A100 PSAA0C-LE400E

The RAM I can upgrade is as follows:
Memory slots / Max: 2 slots of RAM - bottom of the unit (available to the user), busy one with 512 MB DDR2 PC2-4200; can be filled with 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, or 1 GB DDR2 (2048 MB = 1024 x 1 + 1024 MB x 1 MB Max)

    Memory: 512 MB PC2 - 4200 DDR2
Running under windows 7 32 bit

My Question is that I found Ram named series SQ G.SKILL DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 2GB SODIMM Memory (F2-4200CL4S-2GBSQ)
Where can I put in 4 GB of ram instead of 2 GB max as shown above.

I would say that if it fits it and works it should be able to use up to 3 GB of it with a 32-bit operating system but someone tried?

    Hey,.

If the so-called specifications that you can use 1 GB in each slot and a maximum capacity of 2 GB RAM, why do you buy 4 GB of RAM?
In addition on a 32-bit operating system you can use only up to 3.2 GB

In your case, I would like to purchase 2 modules of RAM with 1 GB of capacity, and it works.

I can recommend the modules of RAM Kingston, because they are quality products and never had a problem with them.

  • Satellite A100-626 - maximum memory supported?

    Hello

I have a Satellite A100-626 with 2 GB of RAM.

As indicated in the record of this model:
    standard: 1 024 (512 + 512) MB
    maximum extension: 4 096 MB
    technology: DDR2 RAM (533 MHz)
    expansion module sizes: 256, 512, 1 024 MB

It is said that it can go up to 4 GB, but only shows module sizes up to 1 Gb. (maybe 2 GB modules did not exist at the time).
Anyone know or tested if it is possible to install 2 2 GB modules or 1 module 4 GB to achieve the maximum of 4 GB extension?
Also, it supports up to 800 MHz of frequency? If not, what is the maximum?
And finally, DDR3 works on this model?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

    Hello

I found this Toshiba product page:
    [Satellite A100-626 | http://pt.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=PT&DISC_MODEL=0 & ACTION = PRINT_WITH_BACK & BV_UseBVCookie = Yes & PRODUCT _ID = 119571]

It s a Portuguese Toshiba page because I believe that this model of laptop is designed for the Portuguese market.
You will find information that it of possible to upgrade the RAM to 4 GB (2 x 2 GB RAM).

But note; the 32-bit operating system will not be able to use the full 4 GB of RAM.
Just the 6 bit OS can use and recognize all of the 4 GB

    > Also, is it supports up to 800 MHz of frequency?
It depends on the chipset. If the chipset allows that the then the memory at 800 Mhz would go to 800 Mhz otherwise they would be pointing down.

    > And finally, DDR3 works on this model?
No, as much as I know just the DDR2 modules are supprted.

  • Satellite A100 RAM upgrade - 746

    Hey all
I have a Satellite A100 - 746. And I want to prolong her memory. But I can't find its specification anywhere on the internet. Not even on the Toshiba site. It's just like that, this model does not exist and I am the only one to buy it.
I want to upgrade my RAM and I can't find any information until I can upgrade memory, I can improve to 4 GB?
And I use the memory in pairs? As I have now 2 x 512 MB RAM. I want to delete a 512 MB and put 2 GB instead. Will it work? Or I have to use a couple?

Anyone who can help me please, I'm so frustrated.
    Thank you very much

You are right. This model laptop can handle with 4 GB RAM max. Do not use two identical RAM modules. According to the specifications of the laptop, you can use DDR2-533 RAM 1 GB module (PA3411U-2M1G). Using two of them you will have fantastic 2 GB of RAM and it is more than enough for Windows XP Home edition.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the module of RAM 2 GB for your laptop.
You use Windows XP Home or Vista edition?

  • Satellite A100 - adding RAM memory

I use the Satellite A100-599 noetbook with memory-1 GB - 533 Mhz, the system supports upgrade memory up to 4 GB.

I need to add another 2 GB of ram, but I found it only with 667 Mhz, the question is I can it add ram 2 GB - 667 MHz for 1 GB - 533 MHZ existing ram.
    Kind regards

You can do this, but the 2 GB 667 MHz module will only work at 533 Mhz.
The slower module would lock the module more quickly and would allows the module to operate only at 533 MHz

  • Satellite A100-233 - what memory I need?

    Hello

I have the Satellite A100-233 and I want to increase its memory. The question is, if my card MOM, can I put DDR2 memory with 667 MHZ speed or I use only 533 MHZ?

    Thank you

    Hello

It according to your chipset you ;)

If you want to just buy a second memory module, I'd be the same module as the first. So that you know its module is compatible with the laptop and normally two identical modules must be used in the book to avoid problems of incompatibility.

But as far as I know A100-233 can handle up to 667 MHz modules. If the first module runs with 533 MHz, the second module will work also on 533 MHz. This means that the modules are compatible downgrade.

  • Satellite A100 (PSAARA) - upgrade of RAM possible?

    Hello

Just wondering if I could update my current ram in my laptop Satellite A100 and if so how?

He is currently a Satellite A100 (PSAARA) with 2 GB of RAM.

    Processor: Intel (r) core (TM) 2 CPU T5200 @ 1.60 GHZ 1.60 GHz

    Running Vista 32 bit.

What type of RAM upgrade I could on this system? And what code PIN?
And I know that this may be a shot in the water, but is it possible to update the graphics card at all?

Sorry am new on this... no idea what I'm doing, so if you could help I would appreciate it!

    Thank you

    > And I know that this may be a shot in the water, but is it possible to update the graphics card at all?
No, the graphics card can not be upgraded

    > It's currently a Satellite A100 (PSAARA) with 2 GB of RAM. What type of RAM upgrade I could on this system? And what code PIN?

I think modules laptop use the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM, but AFAIK the 2 GB of RAM is max and this would mean that it of not possible to upgrade to 4 GB or more

But to be 100% sure, you should consult your user manual.

Hey, guys... I am the proud owner of a Satellite M70-160.
I am considering upgrading my ram memory (I have 512 ddr2 at 533 mhz) and I woul like an another 512 and I have 2 problems. The first is that the memories of toshiba is the best? I mean they offer 2 types of memory ddr2 512 PA3412U - 2M 51 and PA3412U - 1 M 51.

The second question is "can I use other brands of memory ddr2 512 RAM sticks?" I mean they have to be exactly the same as that which is inside the laptop? Because I have seen other brands than ddr2 512 to 50% of the Toshiba offer those... In fact someone at the main dealer of Toshiba in Romania offered me another brand, SILICONE - something... (or something like that).

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

I think that the two bars of Toshiba offer the same performance, because they are the two PC2-4300. You should also be able to use other modules of the same type. They are simply not tested by Toshiba.
