  I spent from Vista to XP. All works not well I read on this forum on the wire of Vetko, that members "pinteno" has managed to update its BIOS for XP.

  Please inform what files it uses and how it update its BIOS. I have the BIOS to version 1.40 on my machine. When I try to update with the utility setup.exe (BIOS version 1.6), it goes all the way to new BIOS, then the machine is blocked with a blue screen.   Please do not forget that you have chosen the right BIOS for the series on the right!

  By the way; the incorrect BIOS or an incorrect BIOS procedure may damage the ROM module and the motherboard.

  I have a 3 years old Toshiba Satellite A200 - 193 (PSAEC), purchased in France, it's apparently not released in the United States - or not under the reference of thos - because I can't find it in the database of the Toshiba bios. (I could post in a french forum, but there is no such support :-/)

  The bios is a Phoenix, v1.30. This bios is known to have a bug inside, preventing the unofficial OS and not patched like linux to properly treat the acpi (control of the fan in particular). The temperature is higher than it should be.

  I tried to update my bios to 1.80 through the en of the toshiba site, but I and draw attention to say "this bios should only be used with Vista.
  OK, so it's purely disgraceful given the specific instructions of OS have NOTHING to do inside of a bios, what are my options?

  Please don t get me wrong, but Toshiba doesn't provide any support for Linux. This means that you search yourself for drivers or solutions and that s why the BIOS update is only Windows Vista supported.

  This means that if you want to do this update, you must install the operating system preinstalled Toshiba, I think that in this case Vista. Then, you are able to update the BIOS.

  Way General Toshiba does not support Linux and BIOS update can be done on Linux. All available BIOS updates are versions of Windows and can be updated with Windows operating system.

  I've got A200-10W for a few years and a year and a half I decided to change the form of Vista 64 bit do Windows 7 64 bit, I installed it, everything worked fine until a month ago what problems began to occur.

  I agree with Akuma. You can always try the 32-bit version of Vista, it s has nothing to do with your 64-bit system. If it s is not compatible, you get an error message.

  But unfortunately I doubt THAT BIOS will help you. If the computer hangs at the BIOS screen, that it might be related to hardware. Possibly peut t computer recognize part of properly hardware like RAM, HARD drive, or something else.

  Until you try to update the BIOS to load the defaults (F9 key). Save & Exit new parameters and test again if the error occurs or not.

  Now, I've downgraded to 1.50 again. Much better.

  Usually, the update of the BIOS is unnecessary if your laptop runs successfully, no worries.

  Well, I m not 100% sure, but maybe the table fan has been changed in the new version of the BIOS and that's why the cooling modules run faster with superior performance.
  Perhaps the table fan has been changed to prevent overheating of the laptop. If the laptop could overheat then could damage parts such as GPU or CPU

  I have a toshiba satellite a200-244, and after about 15 months of use it allows to turn off his own time. I have half of heart sought the problem but could not get through to the main problem that I discovered later was dust in the cooling system.
  Anyway, shortly after it to close on its own I use to reactivate it and surprisingly enough it does not as hot as she sometimes did back in the day. Yesterday, it's same thing and it would not turn on back again. No light, no fans no response at all outside of a clicking noise from the motherboard which I will explain later.
  I did my homework, checked the wall brackets, power and supported adapter on the power button while the battery was out and tried to turn on the cable alone. No response.
  I open the aswell of laptop down to the motherboard (unchecked the aswell of cooling system) when I connect the power cable, it makes a noise clicking which is quite fast and hardly audible. (this isn't the hard drive or any other party than anything was unplugged)
  I did some research, I think the motherboard is fried, but I would like to than some entries from you guys and if that is the case, what would be the best thing to do. I've never had a problem with my computer of this before madnitude and all the other before problems have been fixed by myself.
  Any estimate of $$ suggestions is appreciated.
