  a couple of days ago my machine makes an auto update as usually and things seemed good, but shortly after, I noticed that I had no sound function or a microphone of my internal devices and making helmet is also non-functional. the first thing I did was restart, no luck.   I do not work for HP, but I see a definite advantage on the subject of what you are suggesting.

  Try to perform the following procedure.

  Download Realtek HD Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  Realtek HD Audio Driver - Windows 8

  One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the Realtek device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

  Then, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

  When done, shut down the laptop by holding down the key SHIFT left click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.

  Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.  Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

  Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

  Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right click on the installer of Realtek and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  Left click "Speakers/HP" (speakers or headphones) once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

The problem is that I have to keep changing the connections at the back of the computer when I want to use headphones. As I am a gamer and you watch a lot of movies/TV shows on my desktop, which happens frequently, and it becomes very annoying.

  How can I get the sound of the new sound card to the sockets on the front of my computer?

  When you install a sound card into the PCIe slot on desktop is now your help for her most of the time.   Because the computer is almost 7 years old, I don't think that HP will have parts.  In my opinion, your best option is to buy an external card reader and card internal with USB ports.  Headphone and microphone sockets will be difficult to replace, or not at all.

  It's very strange. I installed Windows XP Home SP2 on Satellite U300 edition. It's the same laptop fine but a bit smaller and in my case works cam and microphone. I tested it with Skype. The sound quality is not very good, but it works.

  Are you trying to test also with Skype? Did you check the sound options?

  I remember that the BIOS must be updated to the version of Win XP on Satellite A200 series.
  There are two different versions of the BIOS and installed (Vista or Win XP) the correct version should be used.

  But there are a lot of FN buttons which requires an additional installation of various tools.
  For example, the Touch Pad on / off Utility must be installed to use the FN + F9 keys.

  In addition, you must install the 3.22.2701 and 2.49.2.5C pilot controls in order to get control of Toshiba functionality of buttons.

  The Toshiba driver page provides two drivers touchpad;
  One of the Alps Electric and other Synaptics

  The Synaptics driver to set the properties and the touch pad control functions.
  The Alps Electric driver to set the properties and functions of mouse control.

  Check if both are installed properly

  I don t think that the modem would be malfunctions.
  Fact is that if you use the wrong modem configuration, the line may be busy and the modem would not answer.

  I recommend you configure the modem again.
  In programs-> Toshiba-> Networking, you would find the Modem region Select utility that must be configured for the same country.
  Delete the existing profile and create a new!
