Satellite A210-19 t: win 8 beta is a nightmare, but I can't go back to Vista.

Hello

I could really do with some help.

I was part of the fools who decided to try Windows 8 a few months back to find that I can't seem to turn the tide and now my laptop is basically useless for me.

I can't seem to find a disk to reboot, but I'm not even sure I got one in the first place.

What I read online, Toshiba put everything on one partition and access you by pressing a shortcut when loading the machine upward.

I tried, but the wonderful new Windows 8 will not let me access, should it even be there in the first place.

I have a valid computer with a valid serial, etc. I want just the old BONES of return as soon as possible.

I put my paper in on the support page and that's what he said, I have:

Satellite A210-19 t

Part number: PSAFGE-03V011EN

Main features

-AMD Athlon X 2 Dual - Core TK-57 processor
-Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition
-Drive DVD Super Multi (Double Layer)
-2 048 (1 024 + 1 024) MB
-15.4 "WXGA TFT display 1 280 x 800

Please help me to get my laptop to its previous state.

Thanks in advance.

> From what I've read online, Toshiba put everything on one partition and access you by pressing a shortcut when loading the machine upward.
That of right, but you will have access to this partition with factory only. Problem is that after the clean version of the OS that you will not be able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery.
> I have a valid computer with a valid serial, etc. I want just the old BONES of return as soon as possible.
Correct, but this valid serial number belongs to the operating system that you got with your laptop. In operating manuals Toshiba s is described clearly how portable computer owner should create recovery DVDs and backup the original recovery image. Using this drive you can install recovery image whenever you want.

If you n t have it there are only two possibilities:
-to order a new one from https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx (it will not be free)
d ' install own OS (you cannot use the sticker series)

Sorry, but it's a bit complicated now.

    Hello

On my new Satellite A210 PSAFG I installed Windows XP with SP2. I found most of the driver sound card drivers including on the site Web of Toshiba. After installing the driver card is not sound.

There is no yellow question mark at the hardware level. It seems that all good. Sounds and multimedia, there is no hardware shown.
Also under directx (dxdiag) there is no indicated his card.

    Can anyone help please?

    Hi bonnie

I would recommend using the forum s advanced search option because this question was already asked and the solution has been provided repeatedly.

I remember that some important fixes and patches from Microsoft must be installed.
You must use website update MS for all patches and fixes as the windows update option don t automatically install all required updates.

Then I recommend to download the site of Realek audio driver and install it again.

Best regards and happy new year ;)

  • Satellite Pro U400 - can I roll back to Vista?

    Hello

I have Toshiba asatellite pro U400-13I, I got it from a friend and he formatted the hard drive and created three partitions, now I've lost the windows vista which is on the 2nd HD, I need to recover my system to factory settings (Windows Vista), I have the restore CD that comes with it, but it gets to windows xp.

Can I go back to windows vista original?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    If you don t have the Vista Toshiba recovery disc then you have three options;
    -HARD drive recovery option
    -purchase Toshiba Recovery Disk
    -purchase of Microsoft Vista disc

I don't know if recovery of HARD drive option is still available on your system if Win XP was installed by Mr. but it s worth a try.
Press F8 after turning on laptop. Usually the menu should appear and you should choose to fix my computer. Then new window should appear where you can choose the option called Toshiba Recovery.
But if that does not work then you have to buy disks; Toshiba recovery or MS Vista.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A210-12U - DVD RW drive will recognize the DVD but no CD

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite of 4 years (model: A210-12U) that I recently restored using the recovery CD - it running Vista SP2.

Please bear with me as this may be an ish story, but it helps to explain my problem.
Around a year ago, a virus has made its way onto my laptop and almost destroyed the BONE - I consider myself to be fairly knowledgeable software-wise after studying at the College and began the long process of trying to resolve my laptop without using the recovery CD.

It was a patch job, but after a month or two, I had it works again and it was fine for a period of a few months or so, before, I noticed that my DVD RW drive would no longer read or burn CDs. I spent hours trawling internet forums to help without a bit of luck and was eventually convinced that it was a hardware problem.

As I needed to use a CD burner, my cousin gave me his DVD - RW USB drive and it did not work, which means that the logic suggested that it wasn't a physical problem with the drive, rather that it was most likely a problem with the registry/OS. It was not surprising given that I had done a basic work patch following the infection by the virus a few months earlier.

After becoming more and more frustrated with my laptop in general, I backed up my data on a portable hard drive and used the recovery CD that came with my laptop. The laptop started the CD when he was outside of the OS (according to the instructions that came with it) and restored all of the computer to its original state (and solve many of the problems that have been caused by the virus in the process).

I have spent the last week re - install programs, the copy of backdata etc. and was trying to install a software on a CD today, when I noticed that the laptop had difficulties to access the disk. Explorer Windows knows that the drive is there; It is listed in 'My Computer' and will also be the small CD icon alongside the pointer when it tries to load the CD - suggesting that he knows that there is a CD in there.

However, the drive will still read DVD that suggests, it could be a physical problem with the drive itself (I read somewhere on the laser need to change its angle accordingly during playback of CDs and DVDs). I have a question though, what the computer was able to read the recovery CD when I was being a complete restoration (and that she felt the same difficulties of CD playback in Windows before restoration).

I tried all the suggested methods in similar posts on this forum - Microsoft Fix It, uninstall the drivers etc nothing helps... So yes, I am a little confused and wonder if anyone can help?

The DVD RW drive is listed in Device Manager as HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device.

    Thank you
    Ben

    Hi Ben

In my opinion, this is material junk. You're right about the position of the objective. It needs to be calibrated for CDs and DVDs. If the optical disc drive cannot read one of these media in general, it can be problem of lens calibration.

To be honest sides for this old A210 are cheap and more. I advise you to buy a new or used one on eBay. Exchange and test functionality.
To be honest I don't believe there is a trick that can help you get it working again.

    Hello

I removed Vista and installed Windows XP Professional German from MSDN AA on my Toshiba Satellite A210-1BD.
Apparently, all the drivers are installed but I can't access the "TOSHIBA Power Saver": an error message appears that says that I don't have the rights to use it.
I am logged in as a user with administrator rights, so I don't understand why I can't access it.
Can you tell where I can change the rights for this?

Not to mention that the FN - key functions do not work. I tried to install the hotkey utility but I get the error message that "this software utility does not support this system. But the download Site says it's for Windows XP.

    Hello.

I have Toshiba Satellite a210-16f. I install Windows 7 64 bit but not have the drivers...

How can I get the drivers for Windows 7 64-bit?

    Hello

You can use the drivers released for other series of mobile phones that support Win 7.
LAN, WLan, BT, driver sound driver touchpad are model independent and should work on you A210 too.

Also I recommend that you install VAP (value added package) and Flash Card Utility for Win 7 Support. You can find it in Satellite L500 for example.

I installed Win 7 on my A210 and everything works fine.

    Hello

    > Why don't I have Vista 32 Bit with my laptop Satellite A210-19 f which has turion 64
    Why not?
Most of the new Intel or AMD processor supports 64-bit technology and most computers use the 32 bit OS win.
There is no performance difference between the 32-bit OS or 64 bit OS.

OK there is a difference the 32 bit OS can use 3.2 GB RAM max. ;)

With "Doctor Conectivity" - application, I have, in the log file, this:

    Ping option: Off
How can I do this option: WE / permit?

    (2) even I recorded with my product I can't received updates TOSHIBA drivers!

Thank you for to advance & regards better

The Microsoft Vista operating system has been pre-installed on the Satellite A210-199. Am I wrong?
You have turned off all firewalls? Check it!

Regarding your connectivity doctor' application he is a tool of Toshiba ConfigFree.
It s only a tool of diagnosis and you shouldn't t he use for the WLan configuration.

I think you have to use zero configuration of Windows Vista WLan settings it s a Vista own function for WLan Access the WLan Vista settings configuration and check in the TCP/IP protocol properties, if all the settings are set to automatic.

    Regarding your update of the Toshiba driver;
All the drivers are available on the European driver Toshiba page. If you need an update and then just check the driver page but I would follow these useful tips. never change to a system running, does that mean if your laptop works well, updates are not necessary.

  • Satellite A210-17R: power management automatically changes to the default settings

    Hello

I have a Satellite A210-17R with Win XP SP2. Works pretty well, except for the power management settings (they might call energy Mgmt., I don't know, cause Im using a German language version, so all the terms I use are translated from German).

I am connected with my user name with administrator rights, then this isn't the common thing, where you cannot change the power mgmt based on your user status. I can actually change any settings (when disable hard drive and screen and so on, knowing what to do when the lid is closed), but somehow she maintains herself reset default settings. I tried to remove all the profiles of power except one, but still... keeps resetting. Ive tried to save the changes, eteinde, save the settings and the mashine completely but anyway even if not instantly (and I did not understand a pattern yet) it maintains the default reset.

Its very annoying cause, I would leave on my laptop at night to download stuff, but I want to close the lid during the night and when I open the lid again in the morning, the day before on.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

As much as I know Satellite A210 isn't always supported WXP. What GST version you have installed on your A210?

Until that Toshiba does not offer tested WXP tools and utilities, you can face more similar questions. In any case, you can try to use Windows XP Home edition power options and check the functionality. Maybe it will work well.

  • Vista and XP is used side by side on a Satellite A210?

We recently bought a laptop A210-1 b 1 which has Windows Vista Home installed.

As the laptop at disposal to add another hard drive, we can load a XP disc, so that the system can be opened according to the requirement, at the time.

We try to use a "DJ" program, which is not compatible with Vista.

    Hello

First of all I m not 100% sure if your computer supports 2 hard drives.
I have a Satellite A210 and it has 2 bays for HARD drives, but it cannot be upgraded with a second HDD because the second SATA controller is not available. I ve removed the plastic cover of second HDD bay and didn t find all the connectors.

But you can use the two operating systems on one HARD drive.
You could create a second partition and on this partition, you could install Win XP.

    But it's a little tricky.
The point is that the XP would replace the Master boot record and change the Vista Boot Manager.
After the XP installation that you would not be able choose the Vista operating system.

But don t worry buddy, I found a solution. You need an original DVD of Vista. (I borrowed from a friend)
After installing XP, you will need to boot from the Vista CD. This would again install the Vista Boot Manager.

Now, you need a free tool called EasyBCD. This allows you to change the Boot Manager and include the new entry from XP.

If you want you can google for EasyBCD and more details.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A210-171 - maximum capacity of a hard drive?

What is the max HDD capacity satellite a210-171 may take?

    Hi turboiwan,

As much I know satellite A210-171 has already interface SATA HARD drive so that you can install each HARD drive with this interface because the standard SATA are without capacity limits. This means that hard drives of 500 GB or more may work.

For example, I upgraded my laptop with 500 GB Western Digital drive HARD and this worked great.

  • Need driver TouchPad Win7 for Satellite A210

I have a question! Recently, I bought and installed the new windows 7 (x 86) on my toshiba Satellite A210-128. I installed all necessary drivers, except one, I can't find drivers for TouchPad here-> http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/windows7_drivers.jsp.

I found the generic Synaptics driver but I don't know that's what I was looking for (I wish that my touchpad is fully functional - scrolling, using shortcuts...).

  • Satellite A210 - 16G (PSAELE) and the full support of Windows XP Home edition

When Toshiba engineers starts to move and get value added package for Windows XP for models PSAELE? It is very difficult?

Found all the drivers, but the keys (Fn + F1-12) do not work! You go there for support customers or and sit, while Microsoft pays money for its Vista crap?

1 year I'm waiting for the package of drivers and utilities full XP for my A210 - 16G?, but he did not communicate!

I ask the support of customers instead of Vista support!

Oh, moderators work faster then toshiba laptop support =)))

Seems that Windows XP drivers are not out on the Satellite A210 - 16G (PSAELE) series.
Why? Who knows, but always is he that the XP tools that control the functionality of the FN are not available especially for the A210 PSAELE

Then you can try to install the tools available for other series with your own hands and hopefully they will work. Sorry, but that's all you can do
