  If this isn't the case, then I wouldn't be worried. These issues can occur. My laptop's OS freezes from time to time. Please don t understand me wrong. computer laptop doesn't hang every time but maybe once a month.

  However, what I like to say is that the OS could sometimes crashes due to different reasons so OS if it doesn t happen all too often, you should t be worried.

  Nautilus can read and open the partitions with no problems
  but when I try to install ubuntu (ubuntu installer does not read my partitions) gparted even read my hard disk as unallocated

  You use the last Ubuntu?

  Try setting the SATA Mode to compatibility (located in the BIOS, press F2 at the Toshiba logo after power up).

  I was downloading an update of tempro toshiba (synco or something in that sense) for my laptop Satellite A300 and the frozen screen. I pressed the power button for 5-10 seconds until it is turned off. When I turned it the system seemed to work but the screen is completely black.

  I tried to remove the battery, and fn + F5 but the screen still won't turn on.

  Any help or advice would be appreciated.

  It happened because of the updated BIOS, or during the common software update?
  In case it was an update of the BIOS I recommend contact the ASP in your country, because it seems that the ROM module must be flashed again.

  If it happened during a common software update, so I advise to remove the battery and the AC adapter and wait an hour.
  Then reconnect the two parts and check to see if you could power the laptop properly!

  For a few weeks now, I not was able to display images in their entirety on Web sites - they just don't download not entirely or don't load at all.

  I'll also have a lot of problems with the two IE & Mozilla Firefox, when I try to access the sites Web & click for more into Internet sites I constantly get errors & the page does not load until I Ctrl F5 many times.

  You wouldn't believe how many times I have done this for just register on this forum & get to that stage.
  It's like any site that has multiple pages or much info to download is just too much for the two programs?

  An error indicates to the bottom of the lower part of the IE: res://ieframe.dll/dnerror.htm in this case, if this can help.

  I checked the memory etc, all right.
  I have a satellite A300. Hope someone can suggest something.

  I have Zone Alarm firewalls, spies & antivirus software. Have had throughout & its only been in the past weeks I have had this problem?

  To be honest, I think you have misunderstood something. I have Satellite A300 too and I can confirm that after clean install of OS this mute button isn't here for the mute option, but for lighting ON / OFF.

  For silent use FN + ESC key combination. Compare also the symbols on the illuminance and ESC key and you will see that they are not the same. On the light button, it is symbol of light and ESC you will see the symbol of speakers.

  Toggle the mute option FN + ESC key combination?

  I installed Win7 with success on my Satellite A300-1LI, and I can't believe that you can t it too much.
  On the Toshiba download page you can find the drivers for your model laptop, but you need to look for PSAGCE.
  Model number, you have posted is false. G not but S on the second place (PSAGCE is right).

  Some drivers are missing, but for all missing commands, you can use Vista drivers.

• Satellite A300-15B - 300 SATA-Compatible?

  Hi all
  I only run Kubuntu (64 bit) for the moment on my machine, but I would add an extra internal hard drive, so to reinstall Vista.

  My questions are:
  1. If there is no problem with the extra hard drive, (the beach is empty then why not add a few outside more GB of storage?)?
  2. I found that good part of WD 500 GB but it's sata 300 so I'm not sure if my motherboard can afford it.

  If the above is fine, something extra, off-topic will be if I can still use my windows activation key.

  It s absolutely no problem adding a second HDD. As you already wrote, why not add a few more ;) GB

  General rule, SATA 300 (> SATA2) hard drives are not a problem. As far as I know Satellite A300 already supports SATA2 and if not all SATA2 hard drives is compatible downgrade SATA1 interface. So each SATA HDD work on each controller SATA, no compatibility issues don't.

  If you install Toshiba Recovery disk Windows, no activation or product key is required.

  In general your old A300 is not supported for Wn8. It is supported for Win7 only. Not same A500 is supported for upgrading Win8.
  I have also, but running with Win7 32 bit and I m very happy with it.

  As far as I know that Vista Win8 upgrade is not supported so that you can try is to install Win7 and install the upgrade for Win8. With the drivers and especially with Toshiba Utilities and tools can be a bit problematic, but you can try to use the stuff proposed for the new model of laptop.

  Unfortunately on this forum we don't have much information about these updates.

  I have a problem with my satellite A300, which is difficult to explain, and I have not found this problem anywhere elsewhere in the forums. I'm not a computer expert and I will try to explain the problem.

  When the battery is fully charged and I turn on the laptop, I can use the laptop for 5 minutes and I get a warning to reconnect. When I plug in, the system crashes. I reload and restart once again and I play video sopcast or request some other videos and then plug-in system, it works fine. Once again I can use the system unplugged for just a few minutes, if I plug it crashes.

  I checked with some experts and they say that the graphics card has disappeared. Some say that it could be a virus. Some say that it is a problem with the battery and charger.

  I think you forgot to install Toshiba value added Package this package contains the driver for these buttons (lighted) media where you can start Windows media player, for example.

  You should check the Web from Toshiba site again and search for VAP also indicated for Satellite A300. Download and install the package and after I restarted the lighted buttons should start working.
