Satellite A355D-S6921 - flashing blind corrupted BIOS

Hello guys that I'm looking for some help here.
You may know what happened to me in reading the title, I tried to update the BIOS with software toshiba provided (WINPHLASH).
He hung in the middle of the process. and now the laptop will not boot.

That being said, I've read thousands of messages on the net about the same subject. so, I know what to do and I did it by all means, but it just doesn't work!

* That's what I did: *.
using crisis recovery disk "wincris.exe" made the FDD that contains:
phlash16.exe
minidos.sys
BIOS. WPH

plugged the FFD USB into the laptop.
outfits of the Fn + B
connect the power adapter.
Lit.

The laptop computer reads the floppy drive for like 5 minutes then it stops and stays like that.
I leave it on for like 20 minutes and then I restart, but nothing changes.
-----------------------------

* My guess is that I used the wrong bios.*
what im using, that's what toshiba gives me:
http://cdgenp01.CSD.Toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/salmv170.exe
I extract it and copied tkae170a.rom and renamed to the BIOS. WPH.

It is, in my view, that it is simply false, why should I rename a ROM file to .wph? It does not much sense.
If I rename it to BIOS. Wincris.exe ROM (a lot more sense) calls for the platform. BIN? now, where is this file be supossed? certainly not with the BIOS provided by toshiba.

I also heard that I should use a BIOS to a size of about 512K, but the I (tkae170a.rom), it is 1.05 MB!

* that I am begging for? *
a clue on where to find this platform. BIN
or a hint on where to find the BIOS 512 k.

* Last word *.
Everything I read on the net was on older models as A215 and most of them fixed in this way, but it's an A355D so I think it's a different story.
It's going very well in recovery by Fn + B mode so it must be a way to do this.

Thanks for reading guys!

  • White screen of HP Pavilion dv5 1002nr start-up and error code lights flashes twice, corrupt BIOS!

Equipped with a corrupt BIOS, I struggle to try to replace the BIOS of the motherboard.

The processor is a AMD Turion series.

Question, can anyone tell me definitively when the BIOS chip is located on the motherboard.  It seems to be next to the RTC battery on a piece of white under layer in the cutting of a transparent plastic layer.

Also, is this the only way to save the laptop from the corrupted BIOS will not work the POSITION for me to get into the BIOS to try to restore or update?

It is laptop a grandson and grandpas still inherit this type of problems.

I'd appreciate any help, instructions or information on this seemingly hopeless situation.

    Thank you

You are right about the location of the BIOS chip, this is a chip of 8 spindles/leg next to the battery.  The only other option if you are sure it's bios is to replace the motherboard.  The bios chip is on ebay for $20 to $30.  I have the same problem with the same laptop and I think I'll just bite the bullet and replace the motherboard, if the problem was caused by overheating it could have other problems that surface after replacing the bios chip and you will be chasing ghosts.  The motherboard is also on ebay for $ 119 to $ 175, for the moment.  I hope this helps.

  • Satellite C660 - Freez after boot - corrupt BIOS update 1.7

The Satellite C660 had start-up problems: freezing screen after startup and very, very slow. Also a HARD drive recovery did not help.

I tried an update of the Bios and loaded the downloadable file that at Toshiba (version 1.7). The Bios update has not completed and now the laptop does not at all.

The warranty is void, I now buy a chip of bios in China and I'm looking for now the bios file.

It's all them very disappointing and a large size of time and money.

    > The Bios update has not completed and now the laptop does not at all.
That s it Plains really looks like the module ROM was not properly flashed.
I think it's a problem with the hardware, since you had problems before the update of the BIOS.
I think that affected the procedure for updating the BIOS.

    > As the warranty is cancelled, I now buy a chip of bios in China and I'm now looking for the bios file.
Forget it mate ROM module cannot be replaced in most cases the module ROM must be flashed with a disc of crisis

Would recommend asking a Toshiba ASP for help and reflash the BIOS using the disc of the crisis.
This should not be very expensive

  • Satellite A355D - does not start

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A355D-S6889 (part PSALEU-004005 No.) and when I press the power button to turn on the laptop the power light turns on, fans turns on the CD drive light flashes for a few seconds, but it seems to stop, I don't see even the Toshiba start screen and can see it enter the BIOS. The screen shines at all, the hard drive light does not flash and if I press the keys or mouse buttons nothing happens.

I tried pressing fn + F1 (instant security lock), fn + F5 (change view), remove the battery, the removal of the memory (starting with 1 and without memory), start without the battery and just with the power plugged, leaving the battery in and out during the night, booting from a CD. All the items listed above show some of the different results.

Please can you make some suggestions on what to try

    Thank you

I'm almost sure that it is a hardware problem, because you have tried a lot of.

So I have to say go to a local ASP and allow to check your laptop. I think your laptop should still be under warranty, so it should not be a problem for you.
I think that this problem is caused by the main map and must be exchanged, but a technician knows better.

Here you can find a local ASP:

    Hey,.

BIOS recovery is not possible and it can only be done from an authorized service provider. The guys have to reflash the ROM module with special tools and need a special version of the BIOS for this procedure.

You can find a list of aspic here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an authorized service provider

I know that it s not the easiest way, but you n t have other options ;)

I m new here and 2 days ago I bought a new laptop Satellite A355D series and he installed a Windows Vista 64-bit.
However, as I tinker with it, it seems that a lot of my software that really important in my daily task seems not work with this operating system.

    Hello

I put t find drivers for Windows XP also.

One idea is to get drivers on external sites, like [www.intel.com] or [www.realtek.com]. Look in Device Manager, you can see that materials are in the book.

    For example:

    Intel chipset-online [www.intel.com]
    Realtek soundchip:-online [www.realtek.com]
    WLAN-online [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/]
    Bluetooth-online [http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/]

  • p6110y (aba): corrupt bios

corrupt BIOS, hard drive not detected.  Bios F10 quit screen.  Download sp46442.exe update of the bios.  Rename ben.43 to HPBIOS.ROM.  At this point, I'm stuck.  Already create a usb bootable back.  What the bios flashing utility program are used?

Read the previous comment about just bios make me confuse.

    Hello

Just give it go as I have suggested. Insert the CD containing the rom file renamed and shut down the PC. Now turn on. If the process is going to work, the rom file will be detected on the CD and read in to Flash the BIOS.  If this does not work, then you will need to send it in for repair.  Depending on the age, it may not be worth the cost to do so.

  • Envy 17-j043cl: corrupted BIOS

Problem started when my daughter has added a second HD and we have installed Linux on this drive. There is no entry for Linux BIOS boot change the default boot order, and all attempts to make changes only not good for the worst. We tried to go to the legacy mode, which promtped a reboot and the next screen to enter a code to take effect and a prompt for boot options, which never came to the top. When we went back into the BIOS, it shows the inheritance is always disabled. Enabling secure boot restarts even in a code to enter, but this also fails. Currently, we have tried to activate either (secure boot and legacy are disabled). Win 10 defective ACPI_BIOS_ERROR before secure boot disabled. We can enter the BIOS and go to Boot Options, navigate to the file boot firmly his Linux and efi. Linux works fine, we were not able to boot on a Windows 10 DVD to try to repair Windows 10 and at this point can't get secure startup, or legacy startup to activate. We also tried allowing only an administrator BIOS password but no change, still unable to activate.

We tried F9 to restore the default BIOS, no change. We tried the menu to restore default BIOS, no change. We have tried, perhaps thinking that something has corrupted the BIOS, to level or to reflash the BIOS with BIOS version even. F.66 currently. His ID card system is 1965. The problem with all BIOS download for its Touchsmart from HP Envy 17-j043cl and unregistered is they don't have that file system board BIOS code 1966 1961, but hers is 1965. Without an exact match, we at our end to get this matter resolved. Any ideas? This sounds like a corrupted BIOS? Why does it seem impossible allow a secure start or inheritance? Is the boot options locked so as to only allow to boot Windows normally from the BIOS? Pointers or other ideas to help are appreciated.

    Joe

Yes! It is fixed. Inside the interface EFI partition was the 01966.bin file, the last touch to this riddle. We were able to reflash it to the same version, F.66, USB, we had created since the softpaq (sp73289.exe), via the system, firmware management Diagnostics. It flashed fine and then started right Windows 10, so nothing on the disk hard Windows has been tampered. We'll put to start first at openSUSE 42.1 Leap and may start in Windows 10 in the Menu of Grub easier than playing with BIOS options each time.

Thank you, DoughJohn, for all your help.

Nothing but black screen after flashing the latest bios (fan, leds work)...

I can do, or that of new bios/motherboard can help? (I tried to rest the battery, press F8...) Thanks in advance

I presume that the BIOS is doomed. What you need is a professional help with this then contact the nearest service provider and ask for help.

By the way: check this forum using the advanced search option. In the past, I have seen several interesting discussions on BIOS recovery. I m quite skeptical on this subject but maybe you will be lucky and find the solution.

In any case, I would first check for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager. Then, to install or update the latest WLAN driver from the Toshiba page we.

In addition, check the TCP/IP settings. If your router supports DHCP, it must define in the network configuration of your wireless network card.
You should also compare the standard WiFi on your laptop and the router. On both devices always must be set the same, for example, 802.11 g or Draft N.
