Satellite A40 will not start or start the BIOS

Hello

I have a portable Satellite A40 2 days ago decided to turns off while I was on the internet, and now it does not restart. I tried removing the battery and leave overnight, but it still will not start. When give you it power outlet, the AC LED is green and if you press the button power turns on the green power light, but that's all, the HARD drive light does not illuminate, the fan does not come on, no sound from the HARD drive and nothing on the screen, not even the backlight. You can also feel the heatsink gets hot (without excess however)

If you insert a CD, you can here read the disc, and find things out there, too, now the power button still cut off the laptop.

If anyone has any advice on what may be the cause, or any way I can get the machine to reboot again, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Have you tried to connect the laptop to the external monitor to check if pictures or anything else appears on the second monitor?

Your description sounds like the malfunctioning of the internal display, but it is only a suggestion and a few trials are required to obtain a diagnosis right.

    Hello

I think that it s something wrong with the motherboard or a part of the motherboard.
The point is this laptop should turns on even if the battery is empty and the power adapter is plugged so maybe it s something wrong with the memory supply or electronic power on the motherboard.

I recommend you check the parts of memory first. Remove a module and try to start the device using that one module.

Of course this can not help you too... so in this case, it could be a severe motherboard issue...

  • Re: Satellite U300 will not start

The machine has failed at a conference while using only the word and not on any network.

Now the machine will not start orrepair and even the recovery disk will not work. He gets to the part where he asked for the language and then freezes on the next screen. I ran a disc hard diagnosis progam which reports no errors but I don't know enough about such things.

The drive light flashed hard and I can hear the work of the reader, but nothing happens.

    Help, please

    Hello!

It's strange, but in your case I would try to format the HARD drive before using the recovery disk.
There, you can use the Microsoft Windows XP disk or another tool that allows you to format the HARD drive.

If you have formatted the drive HARD try again with the Toshiba recovery disc.

  • Dell XPS 2710 all-in-One will not start, the totally blank screen

Hello. This is my first post on the forums and I hope someone can help me.

The Dell XPS 2710 all-in-one I bought for my 10 year old 15 months ago (Yes, that means that the guarantee is expired) will not start. No no post, no beeps, nothing. Just a brief spark of light on the screen, no words, nothing. The machine gets occasional use, and there is nothing to indicate what could have caused the problem. I have not upgraded the BIOS recently, is not as if it was a bad BIOS update, or whatever it is. I tried to hit the F1, F2, F12 keys delete during startup. No results.

The video works. I know because I can connect my laptop to the HDMI-in port and I can see the desktop of my laptop very well. So the question is NOT the video. My son uses this machine for occasional movies and homework in his room. I want to fix the computer, if I can. I am handy with computers and built several machines from the outset in the past.

I believe that the most likely scenario is that the motherboard has went wrong; There are several posts around the internet about motherboards 2710 AIO being unreliable. I saw an ad on the forums of Dell from a guy who said Dell Tech Support replaced its motherboard 2710 five times. I see that some of these motherboards are selling on eBay for around $200. I'm toying with the idea of getting a. I watched the service manual for the 2710 and I'm pretty confident that I could replace the Board of Directors.

Someone had experience with permutation on their motherboard on a 2710 AIO? Or someone has any ideas on what could be the problem with my son's computer? I appreciate all the advice/help anyone could offer.

OK, I have removed all the RAM from the motherboard (there were two sticks) and unplug the connector on the SATA hard drive. Then I turned on the machine and got two beeps very strong, but still no video on the screen indicating any form of activity of the POST. The sound signals have been first sounds I've ever heard during the procedure of boot on this machine. I put the RAM back in and re-connected the SATA cable. The way he has been, no video, no post, no beeps. I'm a bit at a loss for what I've decided, this means that the motherboard works technically and that another device on the machine is at the origin of the problem? Have I reason to assume that if I hear two beeps, then I should have the certainty that the motherboard was bad? Given that this a sound signal, the solution becomes cloudy, I guess. I can't help but feel that somehow the BIOS on the computer is damaged. Don't quite know how that could happen, however, because I have not updated the BIOS in over a year. I don't remember what BIOS version I have, but he had been working well for a year with no problems. Thanks for any other help/suggestions you can provide.

  • Satellite A30 crashes when starting the Bios when you insert a USB

My A30-104 laptop hangs when starting the bios, whenever I insert a USB key into the USB port.
The only message that appears at the bottom of the screen and the message is something like this:
Press F12 for the boot configuration or F12 for...

Pressing F2 or F12 does not change the start state.
Note that Microsoft XP Home SP2 is installed on the machine.
No idea why startup is suspended?

    Thank you
    Sam

Maybe the laptop tries to start the USB, but it is not possible to
It's just a suggestion, but I remember that something similar happened to a friend of mine.
The printer is connected to the USB and the laptop could not start in the OS.

Well, maybe we can solve this problem on the laptop you by changing the boot order in the BIOS.
Please enter the BIOS and change the order on the disk HARD - CD - etc.
Make sure that the HARD drive was chosen first

  • Satellite M30 - user not allowed to update the BIOS

I have a Satellite M30 (204, according to me, model 60 GB 1.6 GHz) and I try to update the BIOS but get the error message the "the user is not allowed to update the bios. The reason why I'm trying to update it is I just bought a 250 GB hard drive, but the BIOS does recognize that 128 GB and I guess the most up-to-date BIOS will allow the drives of this size, although I have not found any documentation for precise to say so be it.

Someone at - it a patch to update the BIOS (I don't think I have a usb floppy drive drive anywhere) or to access the full capacity in other ways? Thank you.

    Ainsworth

    Hello

could you please tell me what operating system you´re to help? I guess that Windows Xp...

Usually, the update of the BIOS routine has absolutely NOTHING to do with the capacity of your hard disk drive. You are working with a limited user account? If not, I suggest right clicking on the BIOS update file and choose the option "Run as..". Subsequently a windows pop up and you ask under which user you want to run this program. Click on the "Next user" radio button and choose the administrator. If you have a password for your admin account and then type in, otherwise it should start automatically.

  • Satellite A65 will not start and I get only the blue screen!

When I start my satellite A65 a blue screen comes up saying "a problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
It says to check if I have enough disk space or to disable or update the driver, if a pilot has been mentioned in the stop message... or to check the updates to the bios...
I can type everything that said if I need, but the jist

The world is - that sound familiar at all?
It may be because I was not updated enough when he told me to.
It does not start, not even on safe mode, and it won't let me not restore, which I would be perfectly willing to do at this point.

    help, please
    Joly

    Hello

The blue screen of death usually occurs because of the serious software problem or due to malfunction of the equipment.
In your case, it looks more like something wrong with the hardware. Why, because you're not able to restore the laptop from the recovery CD Toshiba delivered!

Need buddy? I think that the laptop should be verified.
Try to contact an ASP in your country and ask for later handling.

    Good luck

  • Satellite U300 will not start most of the time. Fires - OK. BIOS-OK. Rams -?

Yesterday, I decided to set the default BIOS. After save and exit - screen, black-U300 does load, no TOSHIBA logo on the screen. Only the lights can work.

I conclude that the BIOS has broken. Today, I tried it reflash with Phoenix Bios crisis recovery 1.0.0.4, but without success. FN + B does not. FN + F, Win + B, Win + F... Similarly.

BUT! Because I did so many off - power on trials, he had moments that he actually loaded successfully. Let's say it starts at 1 100 times. Once I entered the BIOS and settled before logo (clear blue Satellite on the front) to be disabled. Now whenever I start the laptop, this logo is dark and this brings me to the conclusion that the BIOS is OK, the system reads its settings and logo off.

Now, it has similarly if remove RAM, or use. Works the same with RAM and without. But sometimes it starts successfully (with RAM, of course).

When I turn it on, the fan may spin for a while and turns off after one second. If the eave it this way, after a few minutes, it starts to turn again. If there is HARD drive inside - it's light for 3-4 seconds and that's it. If there is a DVD in there - it runs as usual.

There is another problem with my laptop - sound does not work for months ago. In addition, there are such cases in the past, when my laptop stops responding for some time, but after minutes, everything was normal. This time... he refuses to answer for a long time and I don't know why.

Do someone know what is happening with my U300?

Great! Thanks for the comments dude!

  • Satellite Pro L10 will not start the system

    Hello!

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L10, which won't work for some reason any.

The last time that I used it, it worked perfectly fine, but now all I get is a black filtered message on "windows starts do not successfully»

It indicates that the computer is not responding and asked me to choose one of the five options - safe mode, safe mode with network, security mode command, last known configuration, prompt or start windows normally.

There is also a 30 second countdown if I do nothing the portable samekh automatically.
It is, none of these things work.

Everything that happens with any option is to a thought very much time on things, then it goes to a black screen with a time/processing bar downstairs, then when that ends it turns itself off, samekh, mw windows page shows (with f2 and f4/f10? options) and the process is repeated.

He did about 50 times now and still nothing.
I tried the command ctrl/alt/del, I tried to turn if off and try again, I even opened the f options but I don't know enough about computers to do more.

    Help, please!

If possible I would like to get the computer on long enough to verify what documents I have on this subject before I can back up (if necessary) and restore it to the factory settings (as I predicted), or if this is not possible, I do not think that there is a lot to lose in this respect in any case, am prepared to take it all back to factory if necessary. I have all necessary installation CD and manuals to go with.

hope this makes sense and I gave you all you need to know.

    Thanks, B

It seems that the laptop is not able to boot the system, but I m not quite sure if it s because of the defective system or HARD drive corruption.
If it s just a system problem, the installation of the new Windows operating system should help you to get it resolved.

In case the HARD disk is defective, you need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the system.

  • Satellite L300 - will not start after the installation of Skype

My Toshiba Satellite L300 won't start after installing Skype.
This happened to someone else, and can I do?

    Thank you.

I think Skype is probably the most used messenger and ideal application for communication.
It is professionally designed and programmed. As you know in recent years, it has been offered in many different versions and it is always better and better.

So I think that Skype itself is probably not the problem. I know that a lot of people also use Skype and I've never heard problem described.

Anyway, what you can try is to remove Skype and try to install it again. Try also push the BONES at that earlier time. Maybe some Microsoft updates are responsible for the stability of the software.
It's really not easy to say what the problem is here.

  • Satellite Pro L10 will not start - the LED blinks

I have a pro l10 phone which, after sutting down as battery not return to life. All I get is 8 flashes on battery led when the button is pressed. It's the same area only, battery only or both.

    It sounds bad
Generally, the laptop LED flashes as there might be a hardware malfunction.
The LED provide a microcode and the technician can read this code.
A common user is not able to read. OK maybe you can read it, but you will not find any description about the meaning of the code.
That is why it s a good idea to contact the technician in your country

But as a first step, try this:
Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait 20 - 30 minutes and then plug in the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

  • Satellite A100 will not start

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-151, which does not start.

A batery 11 times blink when I press the a/c power and nothing happens.
Before that, I pressed too many keys f1 - f12 because it has stopped responding and a blue screen (memory error in the kernel) appeared.

    I tried:
out/HDD, memory slot, battery and tried also reset with the AC button pressed without the battery.
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

    Best regards

As you know on this virtual path is not easy to say what the problem is here, but after reading your ad, I think there must be a problem with electronic control gear. It is placed on the motherboard.

Problem is that work around is quite limited and I can see what you have already tried all the logical steps to check if computer laptop will be able to start on a path.

I'm afraid it is worth noting that you can do except to communicate with the service of Toshiba and ask help from m.

  • Satellite A500 will not start - cannot access BIOS

    Hello

This morning, I got my satellite a500-1GH. I activated the option "quick start" in the bios and can not enter the bios since the screen jump the "f2" for the parameters and f12 for the boot menu and I can't get into the bios.

I tried press f2, as soon as I turn on the computer but it dosent get into the bios menu.

And also the custom of the bone rises, the stack of the screen in 'bbs-hard disk... boot. "and it stay like that until I shut down the computer.

    Please help me here...
    Thank you!

    Hello

To me it seems strange that you can not enter the Bios. I just suggest you plug the keyboard external usb and try to enter the Bios (maybe, for some reasons allowing the quick start, the laptop keyboard doesn't work pressing f2). Then try to remove the hard drive and check.

I've no idea what to say, maybe other users will also suggest something.

  • Satellite M70 will not start

    Hello
I have a big problem with my Satellite M70. I can't pass on this laptop, by AC or battery. lamp power shines for 3 seconds and then turns off, also fan who jumps for about 3 seconds. Then it is a cell phone dead. What can I do or where the problem lies?
    who can help me?
    Dieter

    Hello Dieter

Have you updated something on this unit (e.g. RAM)? Try removing the battery and start unit with AC adapter only. If nothing works I recommend you contact the service partner in your country as soon as possible.

I'm not an expert, but it cannot be anything like hardware related issue and must be verified by the service. Perhaps that the CPU is not cooled properly and the temperature is too high within 3 seconds and unit just turns off.

I guess you are from the Germany, and you can contact a service partner it. Addresses you will find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

    Good luck!
